the QB of Iowa (Ken Ploen) came up to Winnipeg in 1958 and became one of the all-time great players in the CFL's long history. (Frank Rigney came along too ... another great!) This is great footage and I intend to tell Ken about it when I meet him this Saturday at his book signing. A book has been written about him that has just been released. It's a blast seeing Alex Karras in the Disneyland footage. My grandfather was one of Alex's HS teachers (Science). Mongo like Disneyland. :)

Okay things I noticed:

1) the airplane is incredible, with a custom paint scheme!

2) everyone dressed really nicely

3) at 4:50 Coach Evy's expression on his face is epic

4) Its cool to see everyone driving cars that we collect now, and I really want the Bel Air at 14:18

5) All the players were white

6) The Oregon State uniforms look Archaic at 13:55

7) Who is Queen Ann? 17:08

@reedsposer22 RE: #5, who are those guys at 12:14 then?  Iowa was actually one of the few integrated teams in the nation at the time. Iowa welcomed and played the first African American athlete to play in the Big Ten in the 1920s.....and played its first AA athlete in 1896. Frank Holbrook. Look up Duke Slater, he was the Jackie Robinson of College Football. Iowa has always been very progressive.
