@jigadude24 I don't think he was trying to imply Macs were better than PCs, I think he was saying that the reason 22 people had 'disliked' this video was because their computers didn't have speakers, and hence, they couldn't hear the concerto.
Good heavens, get a grip! Ever heard of Gustav Mahler? He was WAY ahead of his time and is now astonishingly inspiring. Talk about a man who could write music? His skill is still blazing trails! Bach was my favorite too, until I discovered Mahler.
@keznh I think there's 3 movements and the recording only goes to the 2nd notice how there's no applause in the transition between the 1rst and 2nd movements. . . and why hasn't anyone answered this guy's question it bugged me to the point that I made this stupid youtube account
I'm currently learning how to play this piece! It's not up to speed yet, but it will be soon :) It's pretty hard. D: I've been working on it for quite awhile :)
WhenBach wrote for two instruments as in this case, there is no first or second violin. It switches back and forth. That is the style of fugue that he created. That's why he's the greatest and all musicians were inspired by his music, even to this day.
lol why do they have sheet music? i doubt they could fit the entire song on one stand like that, and music stands make you look really unprofessional. Sounds nice though.
@TheWorstViolinist Oh, thanks for that. Now you're making me remember my class A pieces for Solo & Ensemble to the very note so that I don't use a stand and maybe go to state. ;P
is there a seperate 1st violin part that I can listen to? (as well as seperate 2nd violin part). and for people who says the 2nd violin part is harder/more important than 1st violin can you please tell me why?
A friend of mine did this for a contest and we played it this speed and the judge said we went too slow. I wanted to whip out my computer and show him this. Jerk.
is it me or is this performance played a bit too fast and at the same tempo.
I have heard versions where they alter the tempo that tiny bit (altering a bit of faster with that bit of slower...) where you really get more of emotion (read as e-motion as emotion moved in motion, being moved) as a result. My thoughts...
@othesemo omg ik! its become so hard to name famous composers after the 21st centruy. i mean, there have been AMAZING ones yes (i.e Samuel Barber who wrote one of my fave pieces Adagio for Strings) but we need someone who is so famous you can pick a random not musical person off the street and have them name a famous string composer. best oh luck to u and your compositioNS! PLEASE teel me about any songs u write cause i LOVE hearing new pieces!
@othesemo So am I! We have this thing at school we do every year called Solo & Ensemble, which means we choose a solo, then find people for a quartet, duet, or whatever you want. I'm in middle school, we both study Suzuki, so this should be fairly easy.
@othesemo: Greats throughout history in every application: music, medicine, sports, writing, religion, design; and the X factor in every great is developing intuition and connection with spirit (god and angels). bach had it for sure! So did mozart: he is quoted as saying he could hear and see an entire piece flash through his mind in a instant! Of course, without his gifts in notation they would have never made it to the page, we call this downloading in the spiritual community! let divine come
@othesemo sigh i think the same thing, but i dont think any1 could produce such masterpieces as this man did. as a listener, i enjoy it alot! as a violinist i thoroughly enjoy playing such wonderful pieces. Bach, Brahms, Tchaikovsky all geniuses in their time and still in the present.
@othesemo I'm also a budding composer! We are in need of another composer as skilled as Bach, I agree, especially when we see that the majority of classical pieces are really just movie soundtrack pieces. Hans Zimmer is quite good, but he's really a movie composer as is John Williams. What kinds of things do you write?I prefer sacred and absolute music. Do you use Noteflight ever?
What can I say...I think this is one of the most wonderful J.S.Bach composition, personally is my favourite, when I start listen this I become like hypnotized. Thanks J.S.B.
Hehe! I'd just like to know how long it took the double-bassman to calm down after the first movement. He goes through those 16ths like a hot knife through butter:) Really nice.
GAH! If only I could play this well. We're currently playing this peice in my highschool orchestra and I have the part of the first violin soloist. I can play the piece through, all the notes correct, but somehow the second violinist and I keep getting off tempo somehow, and I cant figure it out. IT'S SO STRESSFUL!! but it's a beautiful piece and I've loved it since before we played. I just hope everything goes well for our concert.
i can only play the vivace part (1st mvmt). i play both violin parts, but i like the 2nd violin part better (the part played by the woman). i think it sounds prettier. they're so good. but i think they should stress dynamics....
wow i like it but ive played long enough to know that the dynamics should have been stressed more ITS TO LOUD!!!!!!! other than that its pretty good love the violins!
Okay, all you people with bad comments be quiet. You guys don't know what real music is if you dont think that this is well played. None of you have that great of talent to be talking.
they aren't using any dynamics. It's like everyone's trying to out-play each other. this sucks. And ever heard of shifting without sliding up the fingerboard? Jesus
He looks like he's playing a 3/4 violin and she looks like she's playing viola. That's funny. I just wish that the microphones on them didn't get rid of so much of the resonance and overtones :(
@DarkLoveFashion To me Bach is a prophet who had a direct link, a channel to the yonder world. He just didn't express himself in words like traditional prophets are supposed to do, but in music. In marvellous, pure and perfect music that speaks from the heart to the heart! Long live Bach!!!
I should have been more specific in my original comment. What I meant was that I don't know how many orchestral instruments, in total, Bach had in mind when he wrote this piece. I've never see the score for this concerto; I don't even know if it specifies exactly how many instruments should be used.
I do prefer a smaller number of total instruments, so that the different parts can be heard more clearly. Thanks to Ruinney for responding.
to fmotp: The only autographed score for this that exists today is the double harpsichord concerto BWV 1062; and the only autographed parts for the violin concerto were the Violin I and Violin II Solos,
Either the continuo was probably transposed from C minor to D minor and reconstructed in the style of the autographed solos or was copied and the original lost (we don't really know)
Generally a small ensemble is used for solo concertos so the soloists can be heard, it's never really specified
HEY! I'd like to see you do better, and if your not going to put anything posative, don't put anything at all, no-one wants to hear your cocky comments. Damn i hate people being up their own arse!
Superb! This seems to me to be the right amount of instruments - I have no idea how many Bach wrote it for. You can hear the harpsichord and cello continuo really well. The soloists are great. This is on my list of favorite pieces of classical music.

I admire your ambition. I too am a classical musician-aspirant. But please don't troll, they don't play that badly.

Superb! This seems to me to be the right amount of instruments - I have no idea how many Bach wrote it for. You can hear the harpsichord and cello continuo really well. The soloists are great. This is on my list of favorite pieces of classical music.
