@nakosroccomagic According to Who? You see that's the thing, this fan is so old and there is no credited source, that there are many slightly different variations. Most people do keep the index finger under the fan, and they probably get larger fans becuase of it. The index finger over feels more natural to me, and as I stated before, I don't really use this fan, I use Jerry C's One Handed Fan. It's much cleaner.
@JBCardMagic There are many different kinds of One handed Fans. This is called a Smear Fan. If you want a reference check out Jerry C.'s Encyclopedia of Card Flourishes.
Do you need to hold the deck in that grip at the beginning? Because I have seen tutorials where the deck is simply held between the thumb and the rest of lthe fingers.
The smear fan is quite possibly the oldest trick in the book. For me, or anyone to say that there is only one way to do it, and you must do it exactly like me, would be absurd.
My grip works well for me. There are tons of other slighlty different tutorials on it. Try a lot of them and use what ever works best for you.
This fan is so old, there really isn't a right or wrong way to do it. The bigger you can get it and the more even you can get it the better. I think most people probably do like you do with the index below. Just work to get it even and the effect is the same.
not tryin to preach man just pointing out the obvious, the only reason why i do that is cause you have people telling you that you are doin it wrong but regaurdless of weather you are or arn't if you don't want people to preach don't sit in the pew
instead of posting a tutorial it might be good to refer the requester to the book or probably video you found it on or find out where they can find it and give them that info, just a thought
This isn't "magic exposure" so slow down on the preaching. This is flourishing, and All my videos are of my own material or stuff that is old and unclaimed (Like the smear fan)

What do you think is obvious?
That it's wrong to put the fan below the index instead of on top?
At first you came off, like you were blaming me for disclosure or something. Now I'm not really sure what you are on about.
People can say whatever they want on my videos, I don't censor them unless they get vulgar or spam.
If people want to say I'm doing something wrong, that's fine, but I'm going to reply. lol
