  • i just started this piece and i luv it! I really want to play like he does

  • Amazing!! I'm playing the same piece to!! And his playing is really inspiring!!

  • What style is this?

  • I have heard so many interpretations of this but I think this is the most beautiful.

  • Holy trill at 5:26!!! Sheesh

  • Comment removed

  • I don't really care what counts, skill, maturity, fame... but THIS got to be best performance ever. I can watch this over and over all day. so passionate!

  • Unbelievable. The amount of emotion he wrung out of those poor strings - this guy should be much better known.

  • My favourite violinist

  • Un-tucked shirt. Boss.

  • Naruto on violin :o

  • @TheNBortor Just to set the record straight. Koreans are not japanese you dumbfuck racist. Second, Naruto is a disgrace to all Japanese people.

  • @lolmanlolify ololol what's wrong with you man? Who says Naruto is japanese? He's just created by Japanese people, he doesn't really look Japanese.. And should it be racist to call a Korean person Naruto (or Japanese, if that's how you see it). Maybe (s)he has seen the series, liked it a lot (like me, seen it twice = D), thinks Naruto's a bad-ass, just like JooYoung and linked the two together?? I think you're just a hotheaded dumbfuck having a bad day and picking on other people.

  • @SomeAnimeOtaku Naruto is japanese... Google it... Historically, Koreans never had ninjas themselves. Grow up man, anyone who starts getting sensitive about racism and Naruto definitely needs to get a job.

  • @lolmanlolify ololol I was thinking of what to say but you're just spouting nonsense:P I'll just let you be and hope the very best for you xD

  • @SomeAnimeOtaku Thank you. PIGS LIKE TO ROLL IN COW GRASS!

  • 최고.

  • oh gosh, the trill at the end is scary....

  • @lilmizpurrfectionest I was about to comment on that too til I saw yours! ha

  • Oh my life. i actually love this. i love him and kreisler with a passion! so beautiful.

  • what the fuck happened to the applause?!?

  • and people say that asians have to musical soul...

  • total awesome music spasm from 4:40!

  • wow............

I just finished learning this piece, but while learning it, this was such a helper.

He should be so much more famous!!!!

  • not the best intonation in the beginning...im playing this song and i know its hard but i expected a bit more

  • He's GREAT!!!

  • amazing... im left speechless...

  • with this superb interpretation.....the best so far....how will I be able to play this piece with justice!!!!wish I am a genius like him...but no regret....listening to this video is equally gratifying!!!!!!this is kind of Da Vinci's Last supper!!! thanks Joo young Oh and kreisler... now violin music has a place in this world!!

  • The double-stops are a pain in the ass.

  • Excellent interpretation, played superbly, best I ever heard, well balanced.

  • No one draws you in like him. He should be a superstar! Someone discover him, please!

  • @kbo1966 He is famous

  • damn.. @4:45 you cant even see his hand movingg

  • is anyone else reminded of a minigun at 5:27?

  • Excellent articulation in the minute 2:30

    A true Master! :D

  • I can't stop watching this. It's a great interpretation. I'm preparing this piece now to play in April and I can't help but be inspired by him!

  • @Mrgowermate i would still prefer his than yours

  • @63annushka agreed!

  • on bar 144 he went to fast, if he couldve slowed down and make his bow more longer it wouldve sounded really great

  • This is so freaking good...I'm playing this right now abs it's reeaallly hard to do the double stops...me jealous!! ;(

  • I was considering learning the start of this and just learning up until the amazing part ends, but then the amazing part just continued through the whole song.

  • He is my favourite fiddler

  • cant stop listening to this guy,,,,,so unique an interpretation! did he went to Julliard...who's his teacher? Kyung Wha chung? or Dorothy......whoever..he is a superstar!

  • Somehow he makes such a beautiful tone on the violin but he looks like he butchering the instrument to pulp! hahaha amazing...

  • I don't know why, but the high note at 0:46 or 0:47 is my favorite. (propably because of his face :P)

  • I don't know if Heifetz could have even played it that well.

  • this guy looks like he has a demon inside of him throughout the whole song with all the shaking and stuff ahahha what a beast

  • He enters super saiyan mode at 4:40

  • @theomnihoward Super saiyan mode is japanese.

  • WOW

  • my friend performed this piece. and that's how i came here. amazing!

  • i love this

  • I'm trying to memorise this song and it IS hard :(

  • im practicing this piece at the time and i thought this 1 is the best to learn from :)

  • The Allegro was solid and clean. I disliked this artists phrasing in the Praeludium.

  • omg he deserves a MUCH larger audience and attention

  • @ohverrmynd He gets it on youtube.

  • @Mumblez5772 lol yeap

  • A little fast for my taste, but that's just preference, not a mistake on his part, wonderful stuff

  • the best verson of this piece.

  • best praeludium and allegro ive ever heard

  • It is wonderful!! I loved it

He changed a lot in it but it was unbelievable

    And he felt it

I hope I could play it like this:)

  • he is expressing his feelings which is why he looks angry

  • why does he look angry at the beginning

  • arnt u korean cause i am 2

  • the best part is 0:00 - 5:46

  • well he forgot to tuck his shirt in... ;)

  • His upbows are a little wooshy and uneven at around 1:50 to 2:03, but beside that, this is a great performance! :D

  • ouah !!!!!!!!

  • FANTASTIC!!!!!YOU'RE A GENIUS!!!!i like very much how you pley!!!I'm doing this piece and i like only you're personal interpretation of it!!i don't like Itzhak Perlman in this piece!!!!!!!!!!BRAVISSIMO!!!!!!!Compliments!!!

  • Koreans are the best, he proves it

  • how unprofessional.....i don't care how good you are, but you need to follow proper etiquette and tuck in your shirt.

  • @alluhx NO HE'S SO GOD DAMN GOOD HE'S LIKE "FUCK YOU ETIQUETTE, I AIN'T TUCKIN' IN MY SHIRT!"

  • This bobbing head nonsense makes me really mad.

  • @tristan01101 makes you really mad? Why "mad"? It might be a bit silly, but if it contributes to this immaculate performance...

  • well the damn crowd stand up or they all just retarded?

  • Oh wow! This is easily my favorite! Such great musicianship, musicality, and so expressive! Bravo!

  • I've listened to a number of recordings of this piece (pianist actually, accompanying a violinist on this). Of all of them, including Perlman's, I've found this to be the most moving and memorable. Some interesting interpretations, but that's what makes it, well, interesting. So many robotic performances, but this one is an exception to the rule.

  • I'm learning this piece after 8 years of experience and I am freaking out! This is so much fun to watch and I can't wait to play it! :-)

  • Love his musicality =)....

  • nathan milstein also has an amazing one, but it's not a video, just a recording

  • Uh. Wow.

  • people like me shouldn't dare to play this

  • This song is such a b***h to learn... im learning it wight now.. :/ but i love it

  • @InsanityType66 I plax just now the piano part . . . I think thats a bit easier

  • @StreetPerforming I like the chords in the backgound. They sound cool : ] and yesss I'm make improvements :D

  • @InsanityType66 try learning it on VIOLA. :I

  • This piece will be classic as it is and will remain the best of the best interpretations you may consider........he has the most creative mind and warmest heart and soul as to interpreting a masterpiece!!!some do it for fame...but he is just but a real artist!!!!Genius he is!!!!never mind some flaws but the flash of energy is so direct and powerful!!!more than excellent...perfect musicality!!!

  • Bravo¡¡¡ Bravo¡¡¡¡ Excelente, Simplemente maravilloso

  • Bravo¡¡¡ Bravo¡¡¡¡ Excelente, Simplemente maravilloso

  • This song seems so crazy and terrifying when you first learn it. But then, when you get a little better at it, you realize it's almost kind of short...

I agree that this is better than Perlman's interpretation, although given the amount of information on Perlman's performance, I wouldn't be surprised if he threw it together at the last minute so maybe that's why it comes off as a little mediocre.

The only problem I have with this performance are the drop-strokes. So, not perfect but damn near

  • He´s perfect. I agree his interpretation is better than Itzak Perlmman´s. Wonderful!!!

    BRAVO

  • i love how he clearly makes it his own (superb) interpretation without altering what the piece itself has to say

  • Brillaint

  • 11 out of 10 XD u are absolutely amazing

  • I have yet to hear an interpretation of this piece with as much emotion and passion put into it as this violinist here does. Very well done, AWESOME!

  • SO i had to choose between this piece and the haydn concerto in C major and this was by far my favorite this is so beautiful :)

  • Amazing!!

    Very well played :)

    Very inspiring!!

I listen to this before I practice... It boosts me and inspires me :)

  • what a stunning performance! !

I was totally turned on(emotionally) by it!

  • He is terrific. But I think at the beginning he has too many head jerks. But that is only my opinion. Also he plays the song really well and it has given me an idea of how I am going to play this piece.

  • the words over the top come to mind when i watch this guy...

  • i could listen to this forever

  • BRAVO!!

What a nice play of Kreisler !!

This play is the best I've ever listened.

  • God my teacher pisses me off, "You to have more flexibility in your bow hand." So then I use what i think is sufficient, enough so that its comfortable but no "Use more!" he says. ok then, watch this guy, then tell me I need more.

  • Perfection :)

  • I know this guy is sick. But all the gay cunts are like "Excellent performance, bravo" and shit are gay.

Im just sticking with "Mad cunt aye"

  • his violin is so pretty. LOVE THIS. :D

  • The guy is good no doubt but the interpretation of this piece with the pink martini band is far better in my opinion

  • @violinist86 Keep your opinions to yourself then shit weasel !

  • WOW

  • sounds great. very intense and emotional.

  • brilliante!

  • He isn't too young like the other asian virtuosos... he's Joo Young

  • @TheWhiteStrat Hahahahahaha

  • I love him......................

  • This is very different from what I have heard before.

Most beautiful and a very powerful performance.

  • wow he's great like i wouldn't listen to anyone

play this song except him he's just amazing

is he korean hey people check out my music

    videos

  • look at him attack those double stops! fierce and aggresive! throughout the whole piece! damn this player is talented!

  • Comment removed

  • no matter how much i try my intonation for the whole piece always sounds a bit off. i wish i could sound that good,

meh not everyone was born a prodigy

  • Bravo! This is truly inspiring..koreans :)

  • HfM&Co.

  • does anyone know what kind of violin he uses?

  • well done

  • Why do you guys talk to much of Perlman....close your eyes and listen to this guy...yes he is a korean but his musicality is even divine! I guess its time to give due credit to some great Korean Violin artist who exceed those comercialized name as Perman...etc.

  • @patcalisura its not fair to compare joo young oh to perlman.. i agree with you

now if someone compares perlman with heifetz then there you go. im good.

but jooyoung oh he's not even close to perlman

but this is a great video

  • @xDwepee what are you talking about? he is talking about musical interpretation, not how well he plays. I agree with pacalisura in the way that Joo Young Oh has interpreted the piece. It is different to most that is out there and is much nicer to listen to

  • Yep. I'd pay good money to hear this live.

  • Mr. Oh Joo-Young's Praeludium and Allegro performance is "sonorically electrifying". I feel that his general approach to violin-playing is very sonoric (i.e. Chopin-esque) yet he understands how to uniquely accentuate certain passages to draw a passionate voice out of his instrument.

  • u are so right Itzhak Perlman is the worlds greatest. So inspiring.

  • Do you find hapiness in mis-quoting people's commentary? If Perlman was so great, you wouldn't have to misquote me to somehow promote him. Here's a serious opinion about Perlman: he is an excellent technical violinist, but the voice of his violin is sometimes considered over-sweet and metallic. This may be partly attributed to his choice of string brand (Dominant). However, his Bach unaccompanied partitas /sonata recordings have received harsh criticisms from professional critics in the past.

  • I would like to know something. Are either one of us critics? We all are entiteld to our opinion. No violence intended.

  • I'm not sure whether violence is something you resort to in the first place...Why even mention such horrendous terms out of nowhere for music listeners? However, I suppose Koreans are excellent at self-defense skills and martial arts. Want to learn some?

  • By violence i was intending to state that we dont have to argue about it.

  • Sounds good with me.

  • Great...

  • @Unseenh3r056 LOL- no violence intended!

  • I agree this is the best one. I've also listen to almost all available vid on youtube about this piece.

  • this interpretation combined with the skill to perform blows me away. listened to this piece too many times from too many people... by far jooyoung has produced the most amazing result. closest to perfection, no offense to perlman.

  • Perlman's performance wasn't that good

  • amazing! his bowing looks like tai chi chuan exercise

  • this was absolutely terrific, i love how much he gets into it, iv never seen a more emotional performance. iv listened to countless recordings of this piece... this was the best in my opinion.

  • Wow! It's beautiful.

  • hooooly smokes. definitive interpretation. at 4:40 he takes this piece to a level i haven't heard before. bravissimo. perlman doesn't come close.

  • I agree 100% it was amazing, i heard perlman's performance, it didn't seem to have the same emotions or intensity that his had. But what do I know, I'm still learning

  • Comment removed

  • Well, we should, but in the end, we are living in the computer age. He could be replaced with pure perfection and modified into millions different styles to suit every tastes for any social class. But, why would anyone want to do that, Joo Young Oh is wonderful.

  • @brother234 You just wrote a bunch of nonsensical mumbojumbo

  • Modern violinist, as opposed to my aforementioned greats except Hahn, who brings yet another unique style to the world of great violinist, who was trained in the same line of esoteric methodology, now performing for us music with a near perfect technic, leaving us to enjoy it or critic it positively with respect for his level of achievment. Therefore i think Negative comments can only be personal tastes rather than crass judgements which criticize his interpretationform or form .hope thishelps.

  • This was all wondeful, but I think that I could only listen to his cadential parts towards the end, because his head and body motion was too distracting.

  • for this piece, my opinion is that the best player of this piece is Itzhak Perlman..he really plays awesome this piece..the reason of this comment is Joo play as good as Itzhak..great job buddy ;)

  • He is very good violinist. He plqy very well but I not liek this style. I can not speak about some problems in intonation, vibrato, style because he play this piece in his style and it is interesting. Bravé...

  • It was great, I loved it. You were on everything! Great, although... the tempo was fast. The only person in my opinion who can go that fast is Itzhak Perlman-Pugnani But, It was good.

  • "How fast" should not be the issue in this passionate and expressive piece. Technically is not the hardest piece on the violin (not easy, either), but for a good violinist it's not difficult to play it even faster (although the composer said "No!" on the sheet!). Joo's performance is fantastic, but not because of the fast tempo. For some incredible acrobatic tempi, try "young Kavakos" playing live Paganini caprice no5- I was there, and it is for real..!!!

  • I don't know why..I feel totally impressed by special appearance when i listen to his violin. very powerful yet soft. I sure he is one of my favorite violinist.
