Despite what commentator Liggett predicted about Cubino, that was as good as it got for him. Never heard from him again, and I still remember the part at the end where Hampsten had to beat back the spectator
Yeah, it John Tesh, he did backing soundtracks for several Tours and one day races, think the Paris Roubaix.... hmm I want to say 1984-85... he loved his synths, he is a keyboard player of some renown. dunno what he's doing now, but... interesting he did soundtrack albums, kind of like bread minus the filling.. no video, the tunes would probably seem a bit lost..
@force600 John Tesh. I actually have the cassette tape. The album is call Tour de France. It has a lot of songs from when he did the music for CBS. Good luck finding it! It's great music to ride to.
Twenty years latter I still train to this, I have it on cassette. Does anyone know how to transfer cassette to CD is it possible.86,87,88 tour coverage will never be matched. It never grows old. Same with Roubaix coverage of those years. Does anyone know anything about the music they used for NBC coverage of the 1990 worlds there is Tesh and Yanni but I am trying to figure out the piece the last time up the climb when Rudy and Dirk drop Madiot.
It's Tesh but if i am correct i think it is on his Garden City album. I have not been able to locate it on CD but have it on tape from when it was released
i was 15 and watched this on tv..back then cycling was so differnt than now..im 34 now i took up cycling in 1983..its hard to watch it now..I really miss it, i would go so far to say i miss it so much it hurts..
the second song of this video is in the geofrey downes album titleholder THE LIGHT PROGRAM , in the single SIMPHONIE ELECTRONIQUE of 15 minutes, that is subdivided in the following songs :
As a young junior cyclist I used to train for hours to the entire 1987 and 1988 TDF covereage (downladed to my walkman!) and i'd like to get it on IPOD now. Perico!!!! Best of luck
Not sure if the song in question is from 'The Light Program". You can listen to snippets of each song at: emusic. They only give you 30 seconds and the songs are 14 minutes each. The only track I see progressing to any song on this video is Track4 (East West). if anybody does figure this out, A LOT of cycling fans would appreciate it.
Just got word that the second song in this clip is from Geoff Downes' solo work "The Light Program" from 1986. This album lists 5 songs on his website, so take yer pick ;o)
That's a great cadence on that song--perfect for climbing innit? I have the CDs of every song from those TdF days that I could remember, but someone mentioned a third musician (besides Yanni and John Tesh). I'll have to look into that.
Awesome summer I spent in Almeria in '88, watching the tour in our old b/w tv and letting hours pass reading news reports and thinking on the next stage. Happy times.
I really want that music played during the Luz Ardiden climb! I have a couple of John Tesh's Tour De France alubms, but that piece isn't in it! That piece of music is by far my favorite cycling music; it has alot of high and low emotions
people make so much talk over bjarnne riis and his attacks on hautacam..i think delgado here was even more inpsiring and powerful...

I'm pretty sure this is John Tesh - you could probably find it on his album which is surprisingly called Tour de France 1988!

You can buy the CD for not much money.
My question is: who music is playing during the Luz Ardiden climb? It sounds like Tesh but it's not on his TDF album.
