@theirishbloke Yeah, that's what I read, too. Lennon was also annoyed with Ali. He thought Liston would whup him and then they'd look like fools. Two things are important to note: Ali & Lennon later became friends and allies in their anti-war struggles, and The Beatles weren't exactly softies. All 4 came from tough working class backgrounds.
wow the beatles and muhammad ali together. arguably the two most popular figures in the world at one time. maybe even still today. this is amazing footage.
a young, prime Clay... truly a boxing phenomen. Unthinkable that there r middleweights out there that cant match this heavyweights speed and he must possess the greatest footwork ever seen in boxing
Muhammad Ali was a stupendous inspiration for at me 18. I lived on his every word. But, they stole 3 1/2 years of his boxing life because he spoke his mind and stood up for his people. I will love him forever. Him and Malcolm side by side. Awesome. The 60's were tremendous. If you didn't live it you really missed some great vibrations. I'll never FORGET IT!!!!!!
there have debates whether tyson was a good fighter or it was evander who is worth to take that fame and till today there have been many fighters who 's rep is at stake but there is noone pointout at Ali's Game!
Haha they're all funny. Ali's all screaming, "The Beatles, the Beatles, the Beatles want my autograph, yeah, IM DA KING!!" You have to think like a winner if you want to win, I guess there's no time to be humble in the ring. It's cool because they all looked like they were having fun, I wonder if they met at all afterwards.
Muhammad Ali said that in all the matches that he was performing, the holy Quran was always with him, my question is where he was keeping the Quran as he was almost naked?

That's Luis Rodriguez @ 4:25 who was probably training for Emile Griffith at the time. Either he was going for or defending the welterweight title. Great Upload!

John Lennon was to have remarked that Ali showed up The Beatles in their historic meeting. If had to do agian Lennon would have passed. Oh well great footage anyway.
They mentioned the meeting in the Will Smith movie. Finally I got to see it. The Beatles and Muhammad Ali: two of my greatest sources of admiration, one on one. (as it were lol)
Frightening to think that we never saw Ali at his best. The closest to Ali at his peak was the Cleveland Williams bout in 1966. oh yes, you the greatest ali! also the same with the greatest band in the history, The Beatles! I am big Beatlemaniac and I am white, but Muhammad Ali is my truly sport hero!
muhammud ali/cassius clay was a damn good fighter and somewhat entertaining,,but great, not even close,,,cooper, jones frazier, foreman and spinks proved that,,he was a damn good fighter especially in big rings,,,you put him in a 16x16 foot ring, and louis, dempsey, maricano, liston, and tyson eat him alive,,nowhere to dance and run,,,unless the ref let him hold all night long,,and push opponents heads down,,,smaller ring,,the greats get him easily,,,big 21x21 foot rings,,ali/clay gets edge on most
All you mother fuckers who write comments against muhammad ali are racist. cassius clay was a good fighter,,not great,,great is joe louis,,rocky marciano, jack dempsey,,cassius clay getting pounded by larry holmes proved his greatness
dude give me a break don't ever compare marciano to ali, marciano made a name for himself by defeating a over the hill legend like joe louis the rest of them were cans but a few ali fought during the greatest era of heavyweights and beat them, ali was old and fucked when he got beat by holmes, ali is the greatest like it or not
I think the four Beatles would have probably taken Ali in the ring...Maybe with Pete Best as well. Wouldn't hurt to have two drummers pounding on him!
I believe you. You can send almost thing to Ali and ask for a signature and eventually he will send it back to you signed. His wife said in a interview once that he feels like it helps him get closer to God because he knows it will bring joy someone else's life. So I hope I don't burst your bubble, but Ali signatures aren't too rare.
Great, Great footage. Two incredibly important and magnetic forces in popular culture united. Ali was in the prime of his life here, a exuberant young man ready to conquer the world, he still had many glorious and tough roads ahead of him. Beautiful.
Funny that he says he will be the greatest heavyweight of all time so early in his career - even before he was champion and he was the greatest in the end. (4.15)
It's not funny exactly. I think he had a quote about how two things were important in boxing, skill and will, and willpower in the end was the greater of the two. If he wasn't so determined to be the greatest... he might not have been.
ali said to the beatles you guys aren't as dumb as you look.to which lennon replied no but you are.ali looked ay him and lennon stared back.everybody got real quiet.then ali laughed and everybody else started laughing.lennon wasn't scared of no man.
