ARAWAK/TAINOS lives in st.vincent CARIB INDIANS FROM THE ORINOCOO RIVER IN VENEZUELA came to st.vincent in 1300 later on in history a slave ship with AFRICANS crashed and the AFRICANS AND RED CARIBS mixxxed making garifuna which were then expelled to central america I am garifuna from union island st.vincent i speak english n now spanish currently learning garifuna i had no idea about my countrys history or what i was untill i started researching

You need to check your history, we are decendents of escaped west Africans and Carib and Arawak Indians that intermarried in st Vincent,then we got exiled from there to roatan, an island of Honduras, then later spreading along the coast of other C.A countries like Belize,Guatemala and Nicaragua.

@youngdollabillz Garifuna people are not Africans. We never came from Africa. We only got mixed up with the Africans when the ship wrecked in St. Vincent in 1635. But originally the Garifuna people were the Yellow and Red caribs. The Yellow and Red caribs were the real Garifuna people. The only reason why the Garifuna people have dark skin is because they got mixed up with African slaves.

@azar7834 trust me,garifuna ppl are a mixture of african,carib,and arawak...if the africans wouldved never came,there would not be a garifuna ppl. those indians played a big part in the language,but the drumming are beliefs and to some point some of the language has an african influence.
