  • Let me just say this: When God made Scott Baio, that's when he knew he was God. :)

  • i thought it was keanu reeves in this add ? so im thinking this add must been shot around around 1982-1984 most actors did tv adds in 1980's it was not about the money it was more about become more famous and geting notice more

  • so peppered

  • I wonder if that was Jennifer Grey, the girl at the far right end when the commercial ends, in a white shirt and red pants. Its somewhere in the '79-'81 years when she made her first appearance.

  • eh, the other one is better.

  • Zapped!

  • I love Scott Baio <3

  • okay why does that can of Dr. Pepper look so much bigger then todays can soda?

  • Does anyone know how d Be a pepper shirt looks like?

    I

  • what year??

  • Now those are very really 80s clothes.

  • Oh Good Lord... Chachi selling Dr Pepper in those bad clothes!

  • You know you're a child of the 80s when...

you know Scott Baio as Charles in Charge, but not as Chachi.

  • @davincent98

I am quite familiar with the character of Chachi. I thought that Scott Baio did a very good job at it!

  • I remember this commercial. I had a HUGE crush on Scott Baio.

  • I could tell Scott Baio is from the Bay Ridge area. And you still work for his old neighbor.....that's interesting to hear. Very interesting.

  • This is a poor copy od the great David Naughton commercials. I guess David didn't want to do them anymore after the great movie "An American Werewolf in London" and his short lived TV Show. He just disappeared after being so popular for a few years...I reall liked him as a young teen here in Brooklyn... Scott Baio is from Bay Ridge, Brookyn. I still do work for his old neibor on 72nd Court. Scott, go visit Lorraine Foley, your old neighbor....

  • What do you mean his old neighbor on 72nd court. He lived on 80th Street and 10th avenue.

  • Poor quality but oh my word do I remember this!

  • @Cajunlady02 I remember to we are old !!

  • Erin Moran did commercials, but those started when she was only a kid at most and that was way before Happy Days. I don't think they were any commercials from Erin when she an adult. At least, not to my knowledge. Scott did commercials between his pre-teen and adult years as well. Though the most famous one is the Ovaltine commercial that got him the gig for Bugsy Malone.

  • Where's Joni?

  • I never saw this before. Maybe it wasn't played everywhere?

  • David Naughton lost this gig due to his frontal nude scene in "An American Werewolf in London". I remember the "scandal" lol. Too bad because Scott just doesn't do it for me...

  • Well, this appeared in 1982 and Back To The Future was from 1985, so I guess Spielberg used this lot for the movie.

  • @83survivor Yes i wish Biff Tannin would walk in and tell Scot Baio never to come in here again

  • That looks an awful lot like the Back to the Future diner, doesn't it?

  • good job scott

  • Don't worry. Youtube can screw up the sound, no matter how good your quality was. It's all thanks to them that they cut out some music sounds......due to copywrite issues.

  • What did YouTube do to my video? It looks even worse than before. Did they re-recompress it?

  • In the 80s, there was no such thing as embarassment. You either join the club or you're out. :) One of the many reasons it's one of the most loved decades ever, you know.

  • I'm embarrassed for him

  • I'm not. Scott looks just fine given the era.

  • hhahahahahaha

    ohhh

    hes better than david.

  • Care if you post that one. "It's a winner!"...

  • LOL...NOSTALGIC!

  • Dr Pepper rules.

  • I disagree with you there. If you wanted something very puke-worthy...it was New Coke back in the mid-80s. That stuff tasted like crap.

  • Dr pepper is puke-worthy

  • HEY mrFragaz:

Don't talk shit 'bout Dr. Pepper!

  • Nothing wrong being very 80s! I just missed the simplicity of these commercial back in the 80s. Now every commercial sucks today.

  • How could you say that?! :)

  • In every 80s commercial, everyone broke into a dance routine once they drank Cola, Diet Coke, or any soft drinks. The 80s were a much simpler time back then. For more example of 80s commercials breaking out in dance routines, check out the infamous McDonald dance commercial featuring a very young unknown actor that would later appear in Seinfeld.

  • *sigh* i miss those days.

  • gotta love dp...whats the worst that could happen?

  • thanks for posting this Rtrt67! scott baio was a dream.

  • David Naughton may have been more talented, but Charles was in charge.

  • Where's the Ovaltine commercial her did as a kid in the 70s? "It's a winner!"

  • I have that Ovaltine commercial somewhere on VHS.

  • I didn't even know scott took over the commercial, so this is my first time to

see. Not a bad job though.

  • David Naughton was busy around this time doing the classic An American Werewolf In London with acclaimed director John Landis.

  • David Naughton was WAY better!

  • ABSOLUTELY! scotty boy just a johnny come lately. LOL

  • Scott Baio didn't do a bad job singing. When he played that red Yamaha guitar on JLC, I even bought a Yamaha guitar, same make & model, except it's black.

  • Hey anyone spot Ally Sheedy at 14sec?

  • No. What is she wearing?

  • Shes sitting at the counter wearing a blue shirt and she takes a big gulp of the Dr.

  • I thought that was a boy. lol

  • Yeah I will never understand how she became famous, she was ok in the breakfast club though.

  • Doesn't look at all like Ally Sheedy.

  • @Rtrt67 I thought it was either Dorothy Hamil, Kristy McNichol or Potsy! lol The video quality isn't that great. I don't think that was Ally.

  • Scott Baio admits that he has no rhythm at all in an interview.

  • who would have known that all the people in that place are profesional dancers lol

  • His nephew is in Vampire Weekend lol

  • This had to be in the Joanie Loves Chachi days...he had grown. I loved him regardless(and still do) :0) Scott - I am yor BIGGEST FAN!

  • You all forgot the classic Ovaltine commercial Scott Baio did way back in the 70s.

  • Im related to Scott Baio

  • How?

  • whoa!!!!! i've been wanting to see this commercial ever since they stopped showing it! i *loved* this song, scott baio, the dancing, everything! we didn't have a vcr yet when it was airing but i recorded it on an audio cassette and listened to it for many many years after. i still have it somewhere.. thank you so much for putting this up!! i've been searching for it on youtube every now and then to see if someone maybe had it up yet, and looks like today is my lucky day!! thanks so much!!! :)

  • You're welcome!

  • The 10 year old me believed this commerical to be shot in Heaven. Scott Baio, Dr.Pepper, Neon and Singing.Yeah, that was heaven circa 1982. Sigh.

  • High waisted, brightly coloured pants... memories...

  • i saw this commercial when i was litte and didn't know why a dr. pepper wouldn't appear when i snapped

  • lol...thanks for posting this.

  • What I mean by rare, I mean I haven't seen this commercial since 1984. That was so long ago. If you notice, Baio had a haircut and he was staring in the sitcom, Charles In Charge. He was 23 years old in this commercial, but he looks 18 or 19 here, does he? This is actually Baio's 2nd commercial, his very first was the Ovaltine commercial from 1976 that got him recognized right away.

  • He was in his late teens in this commercial. He was still on Happy Days...trust me, I was in love with the man and slept with pictures of him under my pillow every night. I watched every show he was on all the way up until he was on Diagnosis Murder...and recently started watching him again on Scott Baio is 45 and pregnant. I adored him and I remember he was still on HD when this commercial came out.

  • I thought the year said... 1984. Oh, well...

  • I slept with his pictures under my pillow too and all over my room! I think, though - he was more like in his early, early 20's in this video - he had grown and was born in 61, which put the Joanie Loves Chachi days right in the very early 80's.

  • WOW that was one of my faveorite commercials

  • Wow...this is totally rare. This is possibly the only time Scott Baio actually danced..LOL. He should have used those moves for Broadway or something. Terrible singer, not a bad dancer. No Michael Jackson, but who is. Those were pretty impressive moves by him. He was quoted that he had zero rhythmn in his whole body, but this made question him more as to if he really did ever had rhythmn at all. He is no Michael Jackson, though.
