I.m.o. a more fairer comparison in price, wait and size, would be between this Victorinox Handyman or Ranger vs the Leatherman Juice XE6. In that comparison the Victorinox Handyman or Ranger would beat the Juice XE6 on every single tool hands down except for the wire cutting pliers. Also Victorinox gives life long guarantee. In my experience that guarantee is unlimited and no-questions-asked.
In another one of your videos you mentioned the Spartan and Tourist model SAK's. It seems to me that both of those models are the exact same knife, with the exact same tools. Am I missing something? Please advise. Thanks.
@9787kyle um kyle you need to calm down. the victorinox is made to be a pocket knife. the leatherman is made to be a work tool. two differant designs.
Good video. I actually sent it to one of my friends who swears by swiss army while I on the other hand the leatherman's are my ultimate choice hands down. Good job again. Thanks.
Wow what a moron, he took Victorinox every day carry knife and he is saying that it's not good for desert island ? WTF well take Rescue Tool or some awesome model not that piece of sh!t for every day carry ??!
Victorinox is about accesibilty, ease of use and actal uses. Where as leatherman want to provide blades that are trying to compare with fixed blade knives and saws, it just dosent compare. For edc and everyday use victorinox comes out on top by for due to the quality and the amount of excellent quality tools compared to size and weight.
@Witheraf god above, you obviously are blind or have no nerve endings in your fingers to distinguish how the leatherman and victorinox styles are diffrent.
So I have always been a single, hard use, edc blade kind of guy, but I'm curious about maybe using a multi tool. One thing that I can NOT sacrifice is a quality locking blade. I would also like some drivers, scissors, pliers, and maybe some other cool gadgets just to experiment with. What would you recommend? I would like to stay under $75(preferably $50)
@sulcata94 Also Check out the Leatherman Super tool, about 65 bucks from walmart but that is of course if you dont need scissors!! ;) The wave is nice too like Sal said... Great tool!! i have them both and you can't go wrong either way
@sulcata94 I'd reccomend a Victorinox SwissTool Spirit X its way better than the LM Wave, alle the tools are on the outside + you have this kickass front serrated blade, didn't dull on me since i got it (like a year ago) and cuts almost anything like butter + victorinox has a very good customer service, if anything is damaged or wiggly you just send it to them and they repair it for free.
gotta compare comparable things.... You should compare the Leatherman with the Victorinox Swiss Tool... The regular Victorinox SAK's are different things
It's still an incorrect comparison. The Vic you chose is a knife with tools and the Leatherman is a set of tools with a knife blade. When comparing a multi-plier tool to another company's tool, the other company's tool should be a multi-plier. Based on your pairing, it'd be fair to compare a Gerber axe to a Leatherman Wave, brand to brand--Gerber style vs. Leatherman style. And how would the Leatherman beat the SwissTool "hands down"? You toss that out there without any explanation.
@CanItAlready since he's discussing the STYLE , if u all don't know what style is , shape, position of tools together , and if u look the sak has a plier like the leatherman , the leatherman has a knife like the sak , they both have a saw and file , both have siccors , both have their unique specific accesories ... so what he is trying to say is right ... just like u would say he likes a suv more than a citycar while they both have wheels, windows,a steeringwheel and doors ...
while i appreciate ur video review, i feel swisstool spirit is more appropriate comparison. or compare this with Juice CS4 or XE6 for similar size, weight and features.
leatherman, would be far more difficult to sharpen once dull, while Victorinox sharpens in a couple mins. it would bee Very hard to sharpen the serrations on Leatherman as well
@MrPlaystationboy true, but serrations are an extremely poor choice to have on a blade in the field. Having handled both, I am not a fan of the leatherman serrations. Really I am not a fan of any serrations at all. The sak can come with a serrated blade as well, but being stranded on a island, I would opt for a sak over a leatherman, and the reason is because a sak won't rust on you, lighter weight, and more precise craftsmanship making it an all around more durable tool (I love both though)
for full size, leatherman wins hands down.victorinox full size like the swisschamp has too much the you are not going to use.they are too thick to carry in your pocket comfortably to.as for edc it depends what you need.as far as i am concerned leatherman wins.I really doubt that the people making claims below me have actually been camping and surviving in the wild enough or at all even to know what they are saying.
if i was on an island i would rather take a fixed blade like kabar or a roach belly by cold steel but if not i would take the non serrated trekker by victorinox even though i have a charge tti but also victorinox dulls too fast
Victorinox is more reliable and they are better quality THAT IS A FACT since all of their knives go trough a quality check
AND
the only reason to use a leatherman over a victorinox is the pliers
I love both but I use leatherman as more of a work tool and victorinox more as a EDC
But if I hade to choose between a leatherman and a victorinox if I was sent to a desserted island I would choose a victorinox since it wouldn't rust on me
omg the leatherman is FCKING expensive. at a shop close to my house they sell swiss army knives like that one for about 20 bucks. the leatherman is very expensive and i like and dislike the one handed opening knife. i went 2 germany over the summer and got mine taken away because one hand openers are illegal over there. im glad i had my swiss army knife. for the price the swiss army knife is amazing and i agree with brucemcmurtrie. i like the leather man though only for the pliers
If you are on a desert island a pair of pliers may not be as advantagous as one may think. What will you cut or tighten. Not many nuts and bolts or wire on a desert island,
@brucemcmurtrie exactly and all the screwdrivers on leatherman dont help much either i would go with a kabar heavy bowie and a sawvivor 9 out of 10 tomes
The swiss tool owns leathermans the only leather man thats close is the super tool 300 because of the replacable wire cutters and thats it

To save on money get the Leatherman WAVE, It is pretty much the same knife as the Charge, the body construction is the only difference.

The SwissTool is closer in style to the Leatherman (pliers, locking...). You are comparing apples and oranges.
