No, we shouldn't squander our infinitesimal lives, but in my experience when you give someone the "you have a week to live, what do you do" quandary, they tend to go to extremes. They think of things that are short term pleasures that they couldn't justify, and what I think you're getting at is to do things with real value and worth that someone just might not be doing. Just my 2 cents.

If you choose the extreme option, i believe your life is lacking something, or you are searching for something you haven't found yet. And maybe by thinking about these things you can figure out what it is that you are missing. Of course, "Nobody needs to go anywhere else. We are all, if we only knew it, already there."
