This is great! I play at least one Link Wray tune on my weekly radio program! This video is from The Dick Clark Beech Nut Show. It ran on Saturday nights. The kids in the audience are wearing "IFIC" buttons. Beech Nut gum's slogan was "It's Flavorific!". Great seeing Link and the boys back in the 1950's!
After 10 years of not bothering I felt compelled to open an account today just so that I could post;
holy fuck! Live footage of my favourite artist performing my favourite instrumental during my favourite time period. This is by far the most exciting video to have ever been posted on the Internet in its history! Link Wray was a God, and as this footage proves, a mighty cool one at that. I had the privilege of seeing him twice in the 90s and got him to sign my guitar.
You just fixed youtube's woeful lack of authentic video evidence of the genius and greatness of Link and his brothers (and Shorty too!) in their prime.
When it comes to rock and roll, there is Link Wray, and everybody else is copyin' or posin'...nobody embodied the sound of rock and roll like Link Wray and the Wraymen.
RAWHIDE!
