  • @mrsct1976 okay we get it he's related to you

  • On nights like this

When the world's a bit amiss

    And the lights go down

    Across the trailer park

  • its cool that steve trask is my brother inlaw haha

  • I do lol I thought I was the only one who thought that...

  • I love this song, I love this movie.... *sigh*

  • Anyone else think Hedwig looks like Brenda Chenowith from Six Feet Under?

  • Had to watch this movie for my third year english theory class. learned so much about everything, and myself as well. I hate to sound like a "first year intellectual" kind of person, but it's always such a sad thing to leave such an openminded place and go back to my old haunts

  • Ok so is that a woman or a transvestite

  • @WallaWallaShow a transvestite, and the director of this movie if im not mistaken

  • Did Weird Al join in at 3:10?

  • if any of us had waited..............

  • I love this movie but this song and Midnight Radio gets me going in a good way

  • On nights like this

When the world's a bit amiss

    And the lights go down

    Across the trailer park

I go down, I feel had

I feel on the verge of going mad

And then it's time to punch the clock

  • Hedwig is a strong woman, I am inspired by her.

  • is that a guy?

  • @TheGoaway12345 ...technically...

  • @TheGoaway12345 Haha. The actor, yeah. But Hedwig is.... a bit more complicated of a character. She is stuck somewhere in between. Watch the movie, it's quite good.

  • I put in some make up, turn on the 8 track.... ahhh :D

  • Both JCM and Stephen Trask are great artists. However, I think the credits must be given to ALL involved in this wonderful project.

  • A good, hopeful song.

  • poor babydoll.

  • Suddenly I'm...Amy Winehouse! 2:26

  • I was looking for "Hedwig's Theme" and landed on this O_o

  • @LOLnoodle501 You're a better person for it.

  • I had to seen this movie like....10 times? to realize that Yitzhak was actually a woman xD. I LOOOOVEEE this movie

  • @fransuaqj A friend of mine realized Yitzhak was a woman, and was very upset with himself about it.

  • mitchell gets alot of credit but stephen trask is one of the best composers and song writers ever and its cool he is married to my brother

  • When the world gets me down, I listen to this over and over again.

  • @Beatnikzombie Ditto. This entire movie should be prescribed in place of anti-depressants, if for this song alone.

  • @Beatnikzombie This is always my "feel better" song.

  • @mooncrack Isn't it the greatest for that?

  • This song makes me want to do drag. But I don't have the guts. Drag queens are the bravest people in the world.

  • @avatarmn -- DO IT!!! you only live once! :)

  • @avatarmn I'll bet you're a lot stronger than you realize. XOXO

  • @avatarmn I have the guts but not the bone structure. Me in a Hedwig costume would just look like Dee Snyder =/

  • @avatarmn if its truly what you want you should try it sometime :)

like for a party or something opportunistic like that

  • Oh how i love this song

  • @avatarmn The bravest are firefighting drag queens. Tights are flammable and its not an easy look to pull off.

  • Great fucking song.

  • I wish I was able to seen this on brodway :)

  • My Fav song too

  • LOVE THE OOOHS AT 2:41

  • I love when she stomps the light bulb at the end.

  • Did anyone else notice the little jar of (what I think is) Vaseline at 2:03 ?

  • @chessclubpresident removes heavy makeup......old school

  • i still can`t get over how beautiful john cameron mitchell looks here as hedwig.

    or maybe it`s just me

  • i got this movie... 'cuz one of my friends, told me to wacth this outrageous, nice, crazy, movie and i did... one word: PERFECT!!

  • i have an obsession with this movie. :)

  • I felt so sorry for Hedwig when s/he realized that Germany isn't divided anymore and s/he could have left without having had that operation. It almost brought me to tears.

  • I want Yitzak's apron :D

  • @chessclubpresident

    I want Yitzak :D

  • [John Cameron Mitchell, very talented individual. i especially love the growth of this movie from its roots in the underground to branching out to the Stage where numerous others have found their niche in Hedwig. and Stephen Trask's work on the soundtrack; Brillant! love it.]

  • She is a superhero.

She finally accepted who she was and made sure the rest of the world knew it.

  • i love her voice, simply amazing.

  • seriously amazing song and movie GENIUS

  • i love this movie, so touching, and plain awesome

  • The bit at the start where she realises that if she had waited a bit, she wouldn't have had all this pain and heart ache makes me cry every time I watch the movie.

  • No matter how bad I'm feeling, this song always puts a smile on my face. Here's to all of the beautiful misfits!

  • This movie is very interesting and I love this guys voice.

  • thumbs up if jason horton sent u here :)

  • She sounds like James Blunt

  • one of my fav numbers from the movie.

    : )

  • VERY ENTERTAINING! SHE IS BEAUTIFUL! I LOVE THE WAY THIS IS EDITED TOGETHER, AND THE CAMERA SHOTS... LOVE HOW THE TRAILER TURNS INTO A STAGE!

  • I didn't know Lady Gaga came out with a new song!!!

  • @corkscrewfork Fuck you

  • @HyHelloHannah can I just point out I was trying to be funny? And you gotta admit, at 3:25, Hedwig kinda DID look like Lady Gaga, y'know?

  • the world never be the same...

  • Of course, masculinity is way more wide-ranging than the Alpha male stererotypes. Gay men, by nature also have a masculinity. Of course, there really are differences in the way that men and women think and gay men think a little like both sexes. On the other hand many of the differences are purely cultural and have nothing to do with hormones and genetics.

  • I know you guys know there a deeper meaning to this song and movie. My take on it is that it's about self-acceptance and self-expression. He is telling us a secret that most Str8s don't seem to understand- for gay men doing drag is theater and social commentary. Oh yeah it's also funny and fun.But for transgender (non-gay) people it's their personhood. In the end the gay drag queen accepts his masculinity and the female drag king her femininity.

  • love it love it love it!!!!

  • That's most definitely a dude. His name is John Cameron Mitchell.

  • the way Hedwig moves reminds me of Juliette Lewis and the Licks.......or vice versa...you know what I mean....lol. Love it!!!!!

  • I love this movie and the soundtrack......would love to see it live....with John Cameron Mitchell....this is one of my fave tunes from it...............

  • I Love you hedwig

  • im pretty sure thatsss a mannnn.... why did this come up with guy stuck in elevator

  • she's a perfect mixture of madonna, gwen steffani, cher and lady poo-poo in one package. Oh, and she isn't tone deaf.

  • @leavellscott0481 and Juliette Lewis

  • This movie totally changed my life. This song especially gets me through some rough times.

  • @blaiddxdrwg agreed!!!!

  • she is

  • I love you Headwig!!!

  • This director/star is amazing. How can you be an amazing writer, singer, songwriter, director, filmmaker, actor all at the same time? Classic stuff.

  • This is genius! I always wondered how the writer-director-star of this film could have made such an awesome film then I saw their resume going back as so far as to the film Band of the Hand by Michael Mann and I see that they learned from a lot of cool people! This movie rocks!

  • Okay I must be out of touch but it has a definate Pricille Queen of the Desert, flair to it. I want more give me more Hedwig, very fun....

  • Hedwig helps me a lot almost every day.

  • where´s the lyrics???

  • This clip was shown in my cinema studies class last week and I was OH SO CLOSE to singing along. I think everyone was, but no one was brave enough to break into song. Still, this film is so awesome and Hedwig is gorgeous! I'd kill for his legs....and I'm an eighteen year old girl. That says something!

  • @sraphael

We watched the movie in class this week too and I definitely wanted to sing along. But I bet there were more than just me that silently moved their lips. I could see that xD

I want this movie. I think I'm going to buy it. It's so awesome!

...and most of the films we watch in class are deadly boring oO

  • i love this damn song!

  • man thats quite an outfit hes wearing in the end there. its like he scalped other blonds and is wearing them

  • Great video! To the people that wanted to download, its so easy. In your URL location bar type the letters "pwn" in front of "youtube", and hit enter.

  • If David Bowie had died in his crib, and there was no Rocky Horror Picture Show...this video would not exist.

    I'm happy it's here.

  • Amen.

  • @lithjimmy hell, quite of few people wouldn't be here...you should see the statistics of girls who say their biggest reason for actively losing their virginity was seeing David Bowie in those super-tight pants in Labyrinth.

  • @lithjimmy I totally agree with you. And a lot of people would be lonely in this cruel world.

  • @lithjimmy And if Alice Cooper hadn't survived his burst appendix, none of it would have happened.

  • AMAZING SONG!!!!!

    LUV <3 LUV <3 LUV <3

  • LOVE this song!

  • i can't believe it. . . I've not seen this movie in years! Absolutely brilliant, my friend.

  • der beste Film den ich jemals zufällig um zwei uhr morgens im Fernsehen gesehen habe! der Typ ist der Hammer!

my favorit song from that movie! ^^

  • I So Love This Movie And The Guy Who Plays Hedwig Is So Pretty, Prettier Then The Accual Guy...

  • Yitzhak's hat spells out the English word "chef" with the Hebrew alphabet.

That is, it says "sh-e-f," instead of the Hebrew word for "chef."

  • There will just never ever be a better movie than Hedwig and the Angry Inch!

  • Wait, which one is the guy with the pink hair?

  • @atomicale365

I don't really think they gave him a name, or if they did, they never really tell us.

I really love this movie, but one of the flaws I see is that they don't do nearlyy enough with the other band members.

I understand that they can only fit so much in a movie, but it would be nice if they acknowledged them a little more.

  • @KellyKeratin

The movie originated as a one man show, so that's why it focuses on Hedwig so much. In the original production the band members were on stage and provided lines for "other characters" whenever necessary, but the only "actor" in the show was whoever played Hedwig.

  • That's Yitzhak in the chef's hat, right? (Pardon the stupid question, my eyesight is crap and I'm having a hard time making out the faces.)

  • Yes, that's Yitzhak.

  • Put on some make up, turn on the tapedeck......

I just love it!!! Hope to see the live show someday......I'm hooked........thanks.

  • recently saw this movie, everything about it is striking!

  • i love this movie. this song is my fave tho

  • I love this song and I LOVE the drummer and his portable drum kit

  • Hedwig looks so much prettier with lighter makeup. and dang, stephen trask is so talented n hot!

  • Each metaphor she used to describe herself gets stronger each time to show how she is getting more confident with her image and what she can achieve. This is such a feel good song and i've been singing it all day. :)

  • god i love this. :)

  • most... amazing... movie...ever... Hedwig is so gorgeous

  • as a boy and a girl! its crazy!

  • This is my favorite song from the movie.

  • hedwig is god

  • And yeah, I'm feeling kinda depressed and abandoned right now! Woo!

  • I usually listen to this song in the same mood I would listen to "All By Myself" by Jamie O'Neal. it's just slightly more upbeat. ^^

  • i SO want that dress.

  • How is this a feel good song? o.O

  • haha....cuz when you're feeling sad....you just put on your make up, turn on the 8 track, and pull that wig down from the shelf!

  • It's about the power to create magic, glamour, beauty, and love when you feel empty and alone and hopeless. By transforming yourself you transform everything. You create your own happiness... You take the power back from the outside world. It's a pretty big theme through the whole movie. In East Berlin Hedwig found hope in Lou Reed and David Bowie, who did just that. When she came to America, she became that herself...

  • It starts off depressing, but by the end Hedwig's embraced her new self and decides to keep living life to its fullest instead of sulking. :3

  • Ive actually been to the trailer park where this was filmed

  • me too :)

  • This song always puts a smile on my face. Turns any bad day into a good one. Love Hedwig!!!

  • Wonderful movieeeeeeeeeeeeeee!Wonderful song!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I loved this movie, the ironic part is Hedwig's "boyfriend" in the movie is a girl pretending to be a guy, as a part of the movie. (the guitar player with the beard)

  • my favorite song from the movie!!!

  • Oh Hedwig... am I the only one who thinks she's beautiful?

  • no u are not lol i think hedwig is smoking hot and i would totally go out with her, tranny or not lol

  • @ladymercury666 I don't think she's beautiful. But she's sexy, absolutely.

  • @ladymercury666 nope :D

  • @ladymercury666 no i think she's stunning actually. every time i watch the movie I am just in awe of how beautiful she is.

  • @ladymercury666 hedwig is gorgeoussss.

  • @ladymercury666 no you aren't the only one who thinks she/he is beautiful......it's about the person inside....and the music is great!!!!

  • @ladymercury666 I think she's absolutely beautiful! I'm an actual woman and I'de kill to have a body like that!

  • @ladymercury666 shes gorgious! even though she never wanted to be a woman

  • @ladymercury666 Not at all!

  • @ladymercury666 hey i doo i wanna look like that

  • I LOVE the sing-a-long part, and Hedwig being a punk rock star(of stage and screen)...lol so awesome!!! As is the rest of the band...hehe

  • me too! :'o

  • RIP Farrah.

  • Best use of tiny drum kit in a movie.
