  • Man if you think people are onto you and following you the one thing you never do is go into the restroom where there's less people. Also I would had thrown up if a dick would had popped out that glory hole.

  • you know who it was? Modest Mouse...that's who...lmao..."Dream On"

  • glory holethere

  • it's George Michael in the other cubical

  • dream on? wtf does it mean

  • at first i thought the toilet paper was a penis. or both haha.

    great deleted scene. amazing movie.

  • Disembodied voice ftw

  • Silent hill totally stole the vintage look and atmosphere of this film

  • @wolfengheist silent hill didnt stole anything, thet borrow, but they gave it back. no , i mean, silent hill used some idead and teqniques of this movie and they admite it, but the story plot and a lot of things were created by team silent when made silent hill. this movie was inspiration but they didnt just copyed, they used some elements of it to make the games but a lot of things are silent hill only

  • hes lucky a demon cack didn't poke through that glory hole

  • SPOILER/QUESTION

he doesn't go to hell he goes to heaven at the end?

hes climbing up stairs with his son (symbolism)

at least thats what i remember

wait so hes going through hell and then goes to heaven

    someone explain pls

  • @666AMC666 Throughout the entire movie Jacob went through this "hell" (IE a hallucination he experienced near death due to the effects of the ladder) because he was unable to move on to the next plane of existence due to him not letting go of his memories of his son. While he tortured himself mentally, the demons were there to punish him for not letting go of Gabe and near the ending of the movie after his chiropractor revealed what he needed to do to move on, the gates of Heaven were opened.

  • @homicidalidiot thanks homic. you put it in a beautiful perspective

  • Would this scene be somewhere after Jacob is brought to the "Hospital"?

  • to be honest that's not the first time I've seen somone washing their feet in a public bathroom

  • sounds alot like david duchovney on the other side of that glory hole.

  • AHAHAHH MICROSOFT SAM'S VOICE IS SO SCARY!!!! xD

  • Ok. ill be the first to say it. i dont get this movie. at ALL! i have done my fucking best, i look at all sorts of sites about it. and I STILL CANT FIGURE IT OUT! its just like. stupid cause its INSANE! there is no real reason behind it. its just a bunch of freaky shit strung together and they ACT like it has a reason for all being there, in reality i think they just secretly said (ok lets just make a movie to fuck with peoples heads) or thats my take. im CONFUSED!

  • @SatansMullet

The film is basically a long drug trip, a nightmare

    Are your nightmares coherent?

  • @SatansMullet

The movie is based on the Tibetan Book of the Dead. His mind is creating this fake life to escape the truth that he's about to die, but there's a part of him that won't let him accept it (which appear as the demons and people who help him). The demons, the angels (or whatever you believe in), the "meat party", drowning sensation, the shivering, extreme sensations of heat and cold, are all reported in the Book.

  • @SatansMullet Look, this movie is psychological at its best. You finally figure out that he's actually dying in Vietnam and that he's been in Vietnam the entire time. He's made up an illusion, a fantasy of a life after Vietnam, but he still can't seem to let go of his son's death or recall what happens to him after he's stabbed. The deeper meaning is him accepting his death. "In Hell, all your memories, possessions burn, not your grudges. When you let go, the Devils are Angels freeing you."

  • @SatansMullet ..i guess u gotta be in a related mental state 2 really get it......

  • that's the same "dream on" you hear in the final film cut after Jacob finishes his first pass through hell, when he's lying in a hospital bed reunited with his ex and two sons.

  • That loud weird dubbed voice scared the hell outta me when I first saw this scene.

  • "Dream on."

    *JUMP*

  • They should have kept this scene. It wasn't too long and certainly gives a good spook.

  • so jacob's ladder was an inspiration to the japanese creators of silent hill?

  • Yes, definitely. So was Rosemary's Baby. But it wasn't a very good movie.

  • man this whole scene reminds me of silent hill

  • Silent Hill 3 and 5 both reference this movie. In 3, there is a subway stop for Bergen Street, the same as in this movie. In the fifth game, there is a Lyne Street. Adrian Lyne directed this movie.

Watch this entire movie, you'll see how big an inspiration this movie was to the Silent Hill games.

This movie is a horror classic, one of the best ever made!

  • In Silent Hill 2 there is a memo in the apartment for "Dear Tim," while the key you get from the coin puzzle is the "Lyne House Key."

Tim Robbins (Jacbo) and Adrian Lyne(Director).

Also one of the images that can be ripped from the Silent Hill 1 disc is the exact replica of the poster that Jacob sees in the train at the very beginning of the film. It reads:

    "HELL

That's what life can be doing drugs...

But it doesn't have to be that way

Help is available day or night."

  • Cool, I never knew about those references. I'm sure there must have been some in the 4th game, but it was the weakest and I never finished it...

  • Have you heard the gossip about the New Line Cinema making the remake for this cult movie?

  • a remake?

surely god would not let that happen

  • the guy who said dream on I think is the same guy on 24, if im correct

  • Who? keifer Sutherland?

  • Comment removed

  • BIG DREAMS!!!!

  • Between which scenes is this deleted one is? I just can´t figure out when this is happening within the movie... Can someone tell me?

  • i think this is early in the movie after he see the doctor . if u want u can read the sreenplay on line , just type in jacobs ladder screenplay.

  • It would have come after another deleted scene, where he gets 'cured'

  • ohhh thats his leg,,, hahaha sorry , my screen is really dark and his suit blended in with the dark background

  • whats the long slesh like thing coming out of his neck

  • I fucking love this film

  • I like Louis

  • so this is where the inspiration for the bathrooms in silent hill came from, very freaky shit

  • i think there are an infinite number of souls in the universo and yet onl 6 billion get the luxury of living

  • Man, that 'dream on' voice is freaky. Though, I can see why he keeps 'popping' up. Any time Jacob thinks he can run from death, that indifferent voice has to tell him the truth.

  • @dantespimp Great scene, but I think it would've been better if Jacob had reached his hand out to open the opposing stall and just couldn't bring himself to touch the door, know what I mean? Is the stall really empty...........or not?

  • I think this is Tim Robbin's best movie ever! I also think this is one of the most emotional movies I have ever seen. I placed it in my top 10 all time list. The message is very powerful.

  • Who else thinks the guy at the start of the clip looks like Alan Sugar?

  • Why is that guy washing his foot in the sink?

  • wow that was done well. Its not a really scary idea or scene, but its acted well and the atmosphere is so great, its actually really scary.

  • creepy.....

  • LOL, some antidote THAT was! hehe.

  • AMAZING MOVIE

  • that would scared da living bajeebs outta anybody in his position

  • Wow. Great scene.

  • what did the voice from the toilet say?

  • It says "Dream on!" I guess.

  • It says, "moar shit plz."

  • this scene was originally after he meets the chemist.

  • shit it would be good to see the whole movie with all the deleted scenes intact. Someone give the word to Alan.

  • that voice scared the crap out of me in the hospital scene with his wife and two kids.

  • if you guys would pay attention, there is 3 deleted scenes, number 2 starts where number 1 ended and number 3 starts wheere number 2 ended, its all part of one alternate ending, the movie ending weve all seen is where jacob goes 2 heaven, in these deleted scenes slash alternate ending he goes 2 hell.

  • No, where he is RIGHT NOW is Hell. Pay more attention to the movie.

  • raptorenasni is right... during the movie he's not in hell (except for the hospital scene) but he is actually in Limbo, the place inbetween and the demons are trying to reel him in... in this alternate ending they succeed...

  • Scare...

Are you talking about the Astral Planes? I think when we die we have to face all the love we withheld in our lives and face our demons before we can pass on. That is the message I got from this movie. Seems like he finally resolved it and then passed on.

  • As we get older and ultimately very old, we don't think of anything else but what we have done with our lives. What did we contribute? Did we do good? What legacy did I leave?

When you see that door(the end of your life) it is quite scary, because there will be no tomorrow. Life changes. You begin to miss everything, because one day it will all be gone. So you have to make peace with everything. I guess in a way Jacob has to make peace before he can move on.

  • Not true Keegah. listen to the commentary on the movie & the extras on the DVD, the writer & director explain.. The point is he's DYING and his mind is holding onto his life & trying to resolve everything as he slips into death. The demons are his mind in denial, not wanting to let go.

  • Dark,

Yep. They are all within him. Most never understood that the first time they saw this movie...I was 15 and I didn't. Now that I know...WOW

  • Rap,

In my opinion, heaven and hell are all states of mind. They are not physical places we can actually go to. Just my opinion. I have been to both many times.

  • Removed oberalles comment because it contained a spoiler

  • Do you really think that you need to remove spoilers from such an old film? We're all fans of this cult classic anyway.

  • Well, you have a point. Plus I kind of gave up after a while. With excuses to those considered.

  • @MGM12 It's always good to let the next generation enjoy it as much as we did. Never give the end of a movie away. It's sacrilege and exactly what it says "a spoiler". Why would anyone want to spoil someone else's experience?

  • If they hadn't cut this scene, the part where we heard "dream on" later when he's in the hospital would have held more relevance.

  • Not sure about that. Neither of them refer to a specific incident, rather the idea of where his mind is during the whole film.

The "dream on" voice has a very powerful, creepy effect, so I think using it only once in the film is the most effective method. The scene in the hospital is perfect because the voice comes at a time where he should feel safe. (with his wife & kids there)

  • I can't remember a scene when he was going to Chicago. It would appear to be an early scene, due to his unfettered look and his sense of being startled. The voice says "Dream on," which again sounds like an early clue to what the movie is about.

  • i can't imagine why they cut that scene.
