I'm very interested in the drug war, and totally against it, but I found this documentary severely lacking and a lot of the interviews seemed very guided.

The average Am/Idol watcher has no idea why "drugs" are illegal or why alcohol is not. In PA, cops are now raiding homes, jailing people for possesion of marajuana with at least a $10,000 bail. You can punch your girlfriend and break some teeth for a lesser bond.

"Drugs" are illegal but we have hundreds of thousands of drugstores. This does nothing but confuse the kids. And us.

When watching this movie, at about 55:18 I saw a flash of words. I paused it just in time to read, "Oliver North finances Contras by selling cocaine to U.S. cities" Hmm..?

I watched this recently on Showtime. I could have sworn they were talking about a book written about how the CIA was bringing the drugs in to the county. The author was killed/died. Anyone know the name of this book?

Out of interest. How much did this documentary cost to put together. It was very well editted (good soundtrack etc) but seemed to rely on archive footage and interviews.
