Dixie is a psycho but I love her. My dogs always kill them selves in violent ways. Hangings, poisonings and car accidents but they all go to heaven right?
at first when it got faster and more high pitched i was like Oh my God!!! what the hell just happened to that dog????i thought he like had surgery or something! hahahahah!!!!
HA, I love how she totally forgot about the treats, cause kicking the shit out of a pumpkin was way more fun! Thankfully my Border Collies a little calmer than that lunatic! Good stuff.
LOL, she tore the hell out of that Pumpkin. I have a 5 month BC Female, she is awesome. So smart, and I'm pretty sure my shoulder will be disclocated soon from the amount of fetch and playing we get to do, but its worth it, she is so fun. Border Collies cannot be tuckered out by playing for like 30 mins, you need to get a few hrs in every day for them to be happy and sleep good. Mine is passed out beside me as I type lol, good day today outside.
The thing about the threshold of a house in general is the dog is 'defending' it. Or so they usually think.
By the bell ringing (and no one coming in right away) and the postman walking away right after delivering the mail, these people are 'retreating' from the dog and his barking, so the dog has done what it saw as it's job.
I think with an hour or two any decent dog trainer would have been able to help you get rid of that behaviour. Hell, I think even I could have done it.
If I ever get rich (aka: win a lottery.) lol I will make a boarder collie rescue. Can't wait! All to the animals, especially boarder collies. no puppy mills here.
Don't get a border collie unless you have a very big yard for it to run around in. They aren't the sorts of dogs to be kept in the house all the time or especially not on a leash, it'd go insane.
bahaha i love how she could have stopped and got the treat a longggg time ago but she just really hates that pumpkin for stealing her treat so she continues to dismember it.
Dogs eat lots of vegetables and fruits. They're actually very good for their diet. Our BC regularly gets carrots or apples as treats. Beats the commercial crap out ther full of chemicals and artificial colorings.
I had an Australian cattle dog who loved corn, grapes and strawberries... And raspberries- the number of times he'd come in the house with his face all scratched up from thorns of the raspberry bush!

what a stupid dog! DIDNT IT REALISE THAT THE PUMPKIN WAS FOOD? it neednt have chewed all that way for the treat, it could have just eaten the pumpkin!
Dont call him an idiot, dogs are not omnivoures, they are carnivores. Just because they CAN eat fruit and veggies does not mean it is th ebest food for them. Real meat is clearly the BEST food for a dog.
A wonderful way to stimulate the dogs! Making them find their treats/toys is an excellent way to make them use their heads, or to at least get a little bit of energy out. Border collies in particular are one of those breeds that NEED stimulation, they're not like shih tzus or chihuahuas who are happy sitting around all day. They're working dogs, and need something to do. My dog Ginger rounds up chickens all day, and keeps all the animals here in line, even the horses.
haha i've got a 3 and a half year old border collie husky cross he is so friendly to the family and friends but i think there is even more excitment with that breed!
Let me guess....after eating that pumpkin, she had the raging shits for days? I oughta know, my border collie mix made off with one piece of pumpkin and it was NOT a pretty sight.
i have a 7 month old border collie bitch, and she keeps biting me, each time she bites me i scream no! but it doesant seem 2 work does anyone have any clue as to what i should do??
Don't give her atention at all when she bites you, don't even say no. Pet her and give her treats when she's not biting, specifacly when you see her chose not to bite you. My dog had this problem and my vet told me to do this, tel me if it works.
that is not good for the border collie! i dont know if u realize this but border collies are obsesive. they will continue at a task untill it kills them. some collies will work untill they overheat and die! DO NOT MAKE HER DO THAT AGAIN! ITS NOT GOOD FOR HER MOUTH OR TEETH! SHE WILL RUIN HER MOUTH!
THAT IS HURTING HER GUMS AND TEETH! THEY ARE BLEEDING! ANY JACKASS KNOWS NOT TO DO THAT TO A DOG! border collies will complete any task because they are wonderful dogs, DO NOT ABUSE THEM!
Yep, that about sums up the breed in 3 minutes. Hyper, determined, intelligent. However, I have never seen a border collie quite like this one, and I mean that in a good way!
Bordor collies are also very active dogs. Not suitable for people in inactive lifestyles. So not everyone should get one. They need a LOT of attention or they get bored and when they get bored, they get into trouble.

It's called tracking. Place something somewhere, let the dog find it. That's what search and rescue dogs are for as well as drug dogs. It'd be the same if the dog didn't get any exercise and ruin the guy's couch out of frustration. Obviously you know shit about Border Collies as they are WORKING dogs and have a strong work ethic as well as they are extremely intelligent and you have to simulate their minds somehow.

i love dogs so much. but what kind of owner lets a dog get away with tearing up things for a treat? and then rewards the?!?!?! now the dog will think she can get away with anything for treats, and then get rewarded for ruining them, some lesson that person is teaching her!!!!
You see a common mistake which i used to make up untill recently is that its not the case of physically exercising a border collie, its a case of mentally exercising them. But not only that. Its not the duration of the exercise, its the quality of the stimulation that counts.
what did u put inside the pumpkin?

i love dogs so much. but what kind of owner lets a dog get away with tearing up things for a treat? and then rewards the?!?!?! now the dog will think she can get away with anything for treats, and then get rewarded for ruining them, some lesson that person is teaching her!!!!

You see a common mistake which i used to make up untill recently is that its not the case of physically exercising a border collie, its a case of mentally exercising them. But not only that. Its not the duration of the exercise, its the quality of the stimulation that counts.
