  • my favorite song, i cried when i first saw the video and still gets to me everytime i watch it.

  • Can't get this song out my head, what lovely daughter very beautiful

  • I cried when I heard this song. I am now a massive JC fan

  • The only video that ever brought tears to my eyes and gave me goosebumps at the same time. True art from a true artist.

  • the most iconic american ever. no1 will ever replace him. thank you johnny cash for the inspiation youve been

  • saddest song ever

  • NIN's underground???? Not since '89 lol

  • @alec9tap This was a BBC Four documentary, it's a great factual channel filled with awesome content, it is however aimed at a more mature learned adult. Labeling NIN as 'underground' helps the intended viewer understand why they haven't heard of NIN before lol.

  • @alec9tap No i just found it funny... and kind of disrespectful to a band/man who has accomplished so much

  • my sweetest freind i hope we do all meet up in the end

  • my sweetest freind

  • It's amazing to see how pain knows no boundaries - whether you are young like Trent when he wrote it or at the end of the line like when Johnny covered it. You are missed my friend.

  • Very Moving rip johnny and June

  • for the record it was trent reznors song from Nine Inch Nails.

  • For me it's hard to watch him pour that wine. Watching his hand shiver, knowing the end is near. Writing the song that summed him up, his finale. I believe he gave us a song to remember forever. And for that, I thank you Mr. Cash.

  • Rest In Piece fellow patriot.

  • Kilgore is 100% right. John wrote his epitaph.

  • A moving tribute....the tears in her eyes manifest pure honesty...god bless...xxx..

  • he just looks like he knows secrets..

  • After seeing 49 deaths in the back of an ambulance I understand how he feels in this song. Great song

  • Johnny Cash is the most interesting man in the world

  • when i think of love i think of June and johnny! he never stooped propose to her, after 30 proposals she finally said yes and they where together every day for the rest of there life! thats true love <3

  • 13 people need to go die

  • Thank you to John Cash for pointing us to Jesus Christ

  • In his time on Earth, Jonathon R. Cash was a god, even though his life was mortal, his John's spirit, music, and legacy will remain immortal. Even though John is gone, he will always be around. R.I.P Johnny Cash, THE highwayman :'(

  • I remember when the "hurt" video was up for 9 MTV video awards I believe it didn't even win one, but when the artists who won came up to accept their award they would talk about how Johnny Cash was an Inspiration...I think it was because he should have won!

  • J. Cash was an excellent song writer, musician, and had a true ear for music. Without him Rock N Roll wouldn't be what it is today. Sleep Well Mr. Cash Sleep well.

  • Another artist Rick Ruban produced for was Slayer, who asked "What if there was no God, would you be the same?"

If there is no God, I would still listen to Johnny Cash. He is the only God I need.

  • @LueyLuvaexthe13th but Johnny wouldnt exist though if he is a a god

  • Excellent post.

  • 12 people feel no emotion and have no heart

  • People have religion to guide them in life.

I always ask myself what would Johnny Cash do in this situation.

He was a gentleman and Is an inspiration.

    Johnny Cash is my God.

  • @TheJackssuprise

What you see before you is the lighthouse.

Do not mistake the lighthouse for the great country it heralds.

Nor should you confuse the lighthouse with the hands which formed it.

For which is greater the lighthouse or the one who formed the lighthouse?

So I say to you if Johnny Cash has inspired you, look to that which inspired him.

For he himself is not God but rather yet reflects the light of the Holy One.

  • @TheJackssuprise Johnny Cash would want you to turn to the true God, not to him.

  • @jimmypautz Like I said Johnny cash Is my god!

My father died young, My closest cousin died young. My Grandparents have died....I have no more faith In a god who makes me feel so much pain :'(

  • @TheJackssuprise read the book of job it'll help you understand

  • @game67freak I just read a brief outline of Jobs story, I get the point youre making...I dunno what to think

  • @TheJackssuprise one day you will understand but it might not be in this life.... No matter what, live your life right and despite all the things thrown at you, you stand strong and don't let this world get the best of you the next is even better if you keep your faith.. I'll keep you in my prayers

  • @TheJackssuprise Mate, Johnny wouldn't want you to worship him. Knowing his life, I'd imagine he'd want you to worship God. Up to you buddy :)

  • @TheJackssuprise Apparently you missed his point. Johnny has no interest in being anyone's God.

  • I dont see this as a song of pain but of triumph over the cold world he lived in and an homage to the people and memories he cherished. He showed us that not one bit of the wealth brought him happiness it may have brought stability but the people around him kept him happy. He showed us stardom doesnt have to corrupt but can be used as a tool to bring joy and excitement to the world. RIP Johnny and June

  • really?how can you possibly dislike this video..just don't understand some people

  • I just shiver when I see him pouring the wine and trembling.

  • Thanks for posting this. Hurt is such a powerful video, truly his last farewell, yet Johnny's family and friends manage to graciously fill in all the remaining details for all of us. What a great tribute. He was one of a kind and is missed.

  • I know if that was my dad's video I would be crying just like his daughter. So sad. His soul. His pain. It would break my heart.

I watched this entire documentary. It was very good.

  • In memory of John & June----we miss you

  • Wow. pretty moving. Some people just won't ever get it.

And doesn't matter that lyrics kinda seem like its about heroin and/or drugs. Cash OWNS it. Makes u wanna live for family friends - his sweetest friend. So beautiful.

  • 12 people didn't like it cause they realised that Jonny Cash and June Carter will neve be with us again.

  • check out my cover! Its good =) !!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • god bless johny and all of us who must endure this fucked world amen!

  • God bless Johnny CAsh

  • Only the best of artist can sing a song and make you feel and understand it!

  • What sick mind need to have to dislike this video?WTF!

    R.I.P GREAT MAN Mr.Johnny Cash

  • 12 people are misunderstanding this, and mis-understanding Trents feelings.

  • Good doucmentary

  • Something so endearing about an old man singing a song that is so touching. It makes me cry everytime. Especially when June Carter is in the background, warmly embracing Johnny.. To learn that she died of a broken heart months later is just so incredibly touching...

  • All i can say is WOW. Talk about an emotional roller coaster. RIP Cash

  • What program was this on?

  • One of the best videos I've seen on you tube. Totally awesome.

  • what a beautiful couple, and a nice man

  • They see Delivery trollin', they hatin'

  • They see Delivery trollin', they hatin'

  • I love the Cash version of this song and I have been a JC fan for my whole life, but.... If Johnny wrote this song then why on HIS cd "American 4" does he list Trent Resner as the author?

  • song at 4:51 ?

  • anyone know the song that starts at 4.51 ?

  • 12 people probably just would like to change the title of the video...

  • Hurt is a song written by Johnny Cash in 1974 while serving time in Folsom Prison, and intended for Johnny Cash's 1975 album Don't Need No Stinkn' College. The song was about setting his truck on fire and the resulting blaze that burned down a national park and a species of rare eagle went extinct. Cash also makes references to the time he shot a man, and the subsequent time he spent in Folsom prison for committing the act. The song later became his epitaph after he died.

  • @DeliveryManBoy .... Are you for real?

The song was written by trent Reznor from Nine Inch Nails. And Cash never did any time. He was arrested a couple of times and spend the night in jail, and he got one suspended sentence for drug-possesion. That's all.

  • @LarS1963 wrong. check your facts before you go making wild statements. it was johnny cash who originally wrote this song. he just never had it recorded or copyrighted because he thought it was too special. Trent Reznor heard the song at a private engagement and recorded it as his own the following year. While johnny Cash never made a big deal about it, he was deeply offended to have his song covered by a necropheliac. There is a bit of evidence to this fact on my channel I have provided.

  • @DeliveryManBoy Right.....

This would actually be amusing if it was not for the fact that you are dragging the name of a great man in the mud! You are fouling the memory of Johnny Cash when you attempt to apply this nonsense to him. If Cash served time in Folsom, I suppose you can present a criminal record to support your statement? No, you can't, because he never did. Get out of here and seek professional aid!

You ought to be ashamed of yourself!

  • @LarS1963 I see why NIN fans have such a hard time believing Reznor stole Hurt from Cash. I hate to admit it, but Reznor is a talented musician and has a wide bevy of appropriately moving and complex music. While I am not a fan of his, do to his blatant theft of Johnny Cash's song Hurt, I understand why you spend so much time posting mean things on my channel. NIN fans are sad and lonely people. It makes sense they would see Trent as a hero. But he shouldn't have covered Hurt.

  • @DeliveryManBoy Good Lord, you are truly deranged.

I'm not particularly a fan of NIN or TR. I am and has been a fan of Johnny Cash since I heard Walk the Line, when I was about the tender age of 15, which is many years ago.

I haven't posted a single item on you channel, I have in fact bever visited it. Nor do I care to. Now, please go away and live on in your constructed reality or present some proof to your ridiculous statements. Like a criminal record confirming that JC did time.

  • @DeliveryManBoy I'm not a big fan of Nine Inch Nails, well, Hurt is the only Nine Inch Nails song I've heard. But stop being such an idiot, Trent Reznor wrote Hurt. What is your theory? that when Johnny Cash was a sick, old man that the one thing he wanted to do before he passed on was to write a brilliant song, and then give credit to a random artist? where's the logic in that? so stop living in your own fantasy world and come back to reality.

  • @DeliveryManBoy

im confused, dont you know trent reznor wrote this song, and johnny cash covered it, are you confused too, johnny covered lots of different songs before his death, this being one of them..even depeche mode he covered, theres no harm in it, show tribute to other great bands..

  • @DeliveryManBoy You didn't actually listen to the video, did you? You can't argue with a fucking documentary video... What you're doing, pushing your arguement so far, even though you try to defend Johnny, is very disrespectful both to Johhny Cash and Trent Reznor.

  • @toshineon haha, this is the one I was talking about refering to ''Hurt'' NIN/Bowie (Deliveryman...).Is his daughter deranged you think !!??He probably has no clue about music !Did he ever read who and what is playing on an album and who the writer/composer is,even Trent you can find on ytube talking about his song being covered by Cash !!I have a feeling he won't except it as the truth and thinks ''personal Jesus'' is written by Cash too !! But don't want to be rude,or judge too harshly !

  • Definitely my favourite Nine Inch Nails song. \m/

  • no lie i litery cried to this

  • Immenso Cash è davvero l'ultimo grande Americano!

    pezzo stratosferico!

  • Mamma santissma!!!!!

    IMMENSO

  • @DeliveryManBoy @DeliveryManBoy you are very deluded, I am a Johnny Cash Fan not a NIN fan, this does not alter the fact that this song WAS written by Trent Reznor and NOT by Johnny Cash. As I've said before Cashs version is better in my opinion Reznor has even said he prefers Cashs cover. The song has nothing to do with Hitler either and Deliverymanboy is a retarded redneck who just makes up his own little fantasy world and plays with guns because his daddy abused him..

  • @DomSpens To you people who say I have no life. Your absolutely right. I have no life of my own. I gave that up when I decided to defend the honor of Johnny Cash. I WILL NOT REST UNTIL TRENT REZNOR IS SCREAMING FOR JC UP IN HEAVEN TO FORGIVE HIM for covering Hurt when JC didn't want him to. Obviously this song was written by Johnny Cash. I have supplied plenty of evidence to this truth on my channel.

  • @DeliveryManBoy you are clearly an unhinged psychopath, you are living in a fantasy world, you repeatedly say you have evidence on your channel, to give you a fair hearing I actually sat through that drivel of you, a snivelling confused, sexually abused, educationally challenged, attention seeking, redneck, talking absolute nonsense, with no references to facts other than your own inane lunacy, further punctuating your crazyness by ending your video/s with you shooting a TV with a handgun?!!

  • @DeliveryManBoy I think you should probably just go for the enevitable right now, don some combat fatigues, go climb a clocktower, ideally aim at someone in politics that has lots of armed security that will put you out of your pathetic misery, remember to scream your bullshit rantings about Reznor/Cash before you open fire to give normal folks chance to take cover and the authorities to take aim. Alternatively just do us all a favour and kill yourself, ideally posting it somehow on youtube.

  • @DomSpens you are hilarious. I love you man.

  • courage is not the absence of fear... its the presence of fear with the willingness to go on.

you cannot be brave when there is nothing to lose. rest in peace friend you earned it well.

  • Whenever DeliveryManBoy shows up or speaks just vote him down and enjoy the music :)

  • Just ignore the fuck.

  • @DeliveryManBoy What is with you, I hate you, I've seen your shitty comments spamming everywhere, they're useless, and I hate you.

  • @RenyRuIez wrong. check your facts before you go making wild statements. it was johnny cash who originally wrote this song. he just never had it recorded or copyrighted because he thought it was too special. Trent Reznor heard the song at a private engagement and recorded it as his own the following year. While johnny Cash never made a big deal about it, he was deeply offended to have his song covered by a necropheliac. There is a bit of evidence to this fact on my channel I have provided.

  • @DeliveryManBoy your wrong!!! why do you keep saying this?! moron! Trent Reznor wrote the song, and Jonny Cash covered it and did a better job of it, Reznor even says in interview e prefers Cash's cover!

  • @DomSpens When Are you people going to get it through your thick skulls?!!! NIN did not write this song it was Johnny Cash who wrote it. Nine Inch Nails stole this song from Johnny Cash and then tried to make it look like Cash's version was the cover, only because Cash had never recorded it until 2003. Please join me in Boycotting Trent Reznor and his dirty version of Hurt. For anyone who supports this cause, there is a following on my channel where I provide instructions on how.

  • Jesus. This video does hurt. Fuckin' ouch. Man I love music.

  • Jesus. This video does hurt. Fuckin' ouch.

  • first 10 seconds. it says its originally a NIN song.

  • 11 people have no fucken idea about music or its history.. they watch too much mtv bull shit when in fact if it wasn't for Mr cash they wouldn't have that to was there stupid fuck heads out

  • @jaybyrdwv true!

  • @jaybyrdwv it is now 12 that have no heart for the pain and passion in the cover that Johnny sang

  • Does anyone know where I can get this documentary at?

  • @daintyhippie go to kickasstorrents and search for BBC and cash

  • that documentary is highly recommended

  • An amazing guy, well done to the BBC for a great documentary that tells his story so well.

  • I used to listern to Johnny Cash with my Dad 38 years ago... I am now 45 and now appreciate the work that Johnny did and to the musical taste my Dad had until his own death in 2004. RIP Johnny.

  • :/ Sad . . . I'm actually crying. :/

  • @BadJazzy27 I cried as well, dont worry.

  • You will be missed Johnny. Thank you for all you gave us. May you and June rest in peace

  • Thank you, Johnny.

  • this guy was an amasing artist

  • amazing, nuff said

  • i see this video .. i was here... thanks for load...

  • Also...the fact that Cash chose this song to cover...of all that were available just rasies both Johnny Cash, and Trent Reznor in my eyes.

  • @jvmss I agree, of all the bands I never really expected johnny cash to cover a song by NIN but he nailed it.

  • I am a raving Nine Inch nails fan. I have foloowed Trent Reznor for years, and never really liked Johnny Cash. But...I gotta say. Johnny Cash took this, and gave it more meaning than even Trent could. /salute. WOW man.

  • Damn i startes crying.

  • HAHAHAHAHAHA UNDERGROUJND BAND

  • Johnny Cash is the real last American. He was humble and one of history's greatest musicians. Today, the music world is being polluted by Justin Bieber and Lady Gaga.

  • Theres a lesson in here for young people. Dont burn your bridges while your young.

Beacause your lifes still worth living even when your old.

  • This video is raw and Johnny's version should be up there as one of the best covers of all time!!!!!!!

  • @Psychatron Not just "one of the best", "THE BEST"

  • R.I.P johnny and june we'll miss you. you made america and other places happy you may now rest in peace in a better place please god please takes care of johnny and june for us i hope he's making music in heaven for all the angels and to god adn we'll miss you bless your heart

  • Are we still calling Nine Inch Nails an underground band? That doesn't seem right.

  • amazing video

  • The "Hurt" video is true cinema. The world was diminished on 9/12/03. Godspeed, Johnny.

  • Johnny Cash is by far the most honorable, legendary artist in the history of music. He changed so many people's lives with songs. I can't help but cry every time I see this video. Such a great man. If only everyone could try and be half of what Johnny was, the world would be a better place. Much love and respect for this man. RIP Johnny Cash

  • wow talent that stretch across the world ... respect from the UK

  • Long live the Man in Black!!!

  • video is spelled this way hun. lol

  • God Bless Johnny.

  • One of the greatest tracks ever recorded, and it probably should not be touched, but I thought I'd take a risk....check out my subtle dubstep take on this amazing track at hobbzification on youtube or go to soundcloud to download.

One of the hardest tracks to work with as the rhythm/arrangement goes in and out of synch, but done what I can without ruining the original too much (I hope!)

Please comment if u have something to say....good or bad on this one!

  • I cried. Throaty where they said if June was still alive so would Johnny. After she passed Johnny had to keep busy :( I cried... Thanx for posting...

  • The mark of the man that has truly lived is in direct propotion to the amount of hurt he has. In time, regret brings wisdom , but not closure. This is the sad truth.

  • tank71988 has hit it bang on the head. Integrity from artists like Cash, Lennon, Maiden, Motorhead, lets see any of todays modern shite even try and hold a candle to this.

  • Just to see June watching over him...and then to hear him sing "everyone I know goes away in the end"...KNOWING she died just a few months later...that is just so heartbreaking.

  • Johnny represents the same thing that Bob Dylan, Neil Young and John Lennon represent to me. Artistic Integrity, something that most artists today know nothing about.

  • thanks for posting this.

  • Anyone know where to find the whole BBC dvd?

  • He was a genuine troubadour, a bona fide minstrel, telling and re-telling the stories of our lives, what we wish were our lives or sometimes the stories that shouldn't be part of anyone's lives but become so due to our human nature and the choices we make. He fully embodied our human spirit, and we're richer for his life and what he has left behind. I only hope I to touch anyone the way his music has touched me.

  • Those 9 people arnt Human if they cant like this song.

  • tears every fucking time, god fucking damnit

  • thanks for posting this

    'doucementary'

  • @AbbadonXII wtf

  • @AbbadonXII wtf

  • Thank 'you' for making this vid.

I never appreciated Johnny until I (he) got older.

    'I feel a fool' !!!

    'nuff' said: Wolf

  • Never knew a lot about Cash until I saw the Hurt video, but the lyrics (by Trent R.) and incredibly beautiful performance by Cash break me down every time. The ragged face of Cash as he dumps the wine out like his blood... he took everything life could toss at him and was creative until the end with a wife and family by his side. Bravo to a legend

  • This made me want to cry,..he was such a Great musician and Man...R.I.P

  • JC is amazing this song and video blow me away. What a wonderful man. R.I.P

  • legend!

  • I feel bad for him he had to see his wife buried. I think he died beacuse he had nothing left to live for, she was his everything.

  • Style and class all in THIS man

  • i can relate to this, alot
