I used to see these guys at Hammerjacks. Them and Kix were awesome. Now I live in South Florida, but I will always remember Hammerjacks and all the fun I had there. I won several wet t-shirt and hot body contests there also! I was a dancer at BodyTalk, Memories, The Gold Club and Gales back in the 80's
Does anyone else here remember a big white dude named Bootsy that used to have HUGE parties at his house back in the woods by the raildroad tracks where the Reisterstown Subway Station is now? I remember listening to this in a haze at 14 at one of those parties.
LONG LIVE- HAMMERJACKS- CAPRICORN- SANDBAR . I SAW CRACK THE SKY AT ALL OF THESE PLACES. Nothing will compare, Long live those fuckin 80s and great times
how do I get this on to my I-Phone? I don't think I realized they were only local until I moved and Couldn't find them anymore, now that I am back in the MD/DC/VA/WV area's I am getting my fill of Crack the sky again!!!!! <3 Memories.........
I lived in Baltimore in 76-78. This album was HUGE there! We played it over and over. They were cursed. They easily could have been worldwide stars. Crazy.
My uncle played guitar and sang in this band....he was from Baltimore, so I think they were well known mostly local :) Not sure when he left the band.........my aunt and he divorces a while back....
Thanks so much for uploading this. What a gas! I used to have this album. Used to listen to this song all the time. Yes, in Baltimore! For some reason I assumed they were a local band.
so is every 1 from baltimore commenting one this bc im 17 and im froem baltimore and i lvoe and my dad used to party with these guys thats how i know them my dad got their tape and cd from them and my dad listened 2 them when i was young and i loved them ever since Essex Maryland i love
i named my 1973 firebird cindy cause of this song ..man i miss baltimore..best and nicest people around..now im in ugly sucky michigan..god i wish i could go back to that time of my life....
i been gone since mid 80's but still have a freind there i still talk to ..im going to visit in aug ...my best years growing up was there and i realy do miss it bunches....i lived next to the kenelworth mall i think its been so long ago..lol
Please elaborate your comment a bit further. I saw those guys at Hammerjacks in the mid 80s. Very under appreciated, while P-Diddy gets billions and a reality show. Pallease tell me thats a joke.
You said it...98 Rock and Crack The Sky....Ain't nothing any better than them days.....makes me feel the chills hearing this., Plus my Ex's name was Cindy......LOL
Man oh Man ...thank you so much for posting this!!!!!!! I could go on about my memories with Crack the Sky.... but , if you were there, you were there. What a ripped off band. They should have been so famous. But no.... Brittney Spears got famous instead. But who cares... we, the priveleged, got to soak it in !!!!
This song and album was essenially a new two man band for 1980. Ricky Witkowski produced the album and played Guitar, Lead Guitar, Drums. John Palumbo, sang, Played Bass Guitar, plus Guitars, etc. They were going to call this "new" band "The Marines" but Lifesong their record company wouldn't put the album out unless it was a Crack The Sky release and the rest is history.
awesome! I dont know how many times I saw them at the old Painters Mill Theatre in Pikesville - at least a half dozen times - I was the guy in the front row who handed him off the 4 foot joint on New Years Eve that the entire band and audience shared - ahhh good times...
Your lucky man. All I got to do at Painters Mill was roller skate. Never got to see Crack the Sky. I saw plenty at the Civic Center ( Baltimore Arena ).

Reminds me of my childhood in Baltimore. Like many others, I was shocked they didn't get "bigger"...
AngelaBaldi 4 months ago
@AngelaBaldi They play this song on WZBA 100.7. Pretty mainstream, I think. Maybe they did make it "big" in some fashion.
