Alright, I feel your points are acceptable and understandable, but I feel that you are focusing on GHB simply because you had problems with it. All drugs can be terribly destructive but if safety, moderation, knowledge and common sense are applied, I believe most drug use(yes even heroin and meth)can be safe. I get away with using methamphetamine and cocaine because I follow these simple rules. I have a particular hate of alcohol because it greatly damages others besides the user.

I personally knew one local "cool guy" who used this drug. When he was not on him he worked a normal job, had nearly everything he wanted. But when he was on it, better even ask him. His girlfriend forced him to quit, but when they seperated, he started to take it once more. One day when he was on drug he decided to take a ride from car which recently had been painted in his father's paint shop. People should be aware that what they believe is GHB can easily also contain a varying amount of GBL as an impurity. Some people knowingly sell GBL as GHB--and they basically should be shot for this. GBL kills, and very poorly made GHB can also. GBL melts plastics and if you are consuming poorly made GHB containing GBL, you may be consuming plastic, as it's often stored in plastic bottles, which GBL can easily dissolve and melt. People really need to know the truth about GHB--that with known and appropriate dosage, high purity (free from GBL,) and infrequent use, it is much safer than alcohol and other drugs. GHB in low to moderate dosages is considered non-toxic, having no toxic metabolites, etc. But rarely anyone consumes GHB knowing the amount they are taking--it's often diluted to unknown concentration, making this almost impossible to establish.

No it is not at all scarier than psychosis, delirium, seizures, dystonia, tremors, RLS, etc, etc. And if you ever went through real withdrawal, you would NEVER make that statement again. There is a reason why heroin, cocaine and meth are huge problems while weed, MDMA, GHB are not. But GHB is physically addicitve: "Gamma-hydroxybutyric acid (GHB) dependence and the GHB withdrawal syndrome: diagnosis and treatment" That is an article in a Dutch scientific journal posted on PubMed.

I have yet to try GHB but have done significant research on it. There is an amazing wealth of scientific data available online if one does a little scraping. As far as I can tell, apart from the fact that the difference between a recreational dose and an over-the-top dose is so small, this drug appears to be no worse than alcohol. So many people die of alcohol poisoning but no one seems to make a fuss. I'm very sorry to hear about your son though.

They do not investigate, educate or pay much attention to GHB, although it is well worth worrying about in this country. But it is ignored, except by drug companies who want to make it legal for certain afflictions. There is a great deal of dfference between having a few drinks and getting dosed or OD'ing GHB. One, you can die from, the other not.

Men are also at risk. I've been victim of GHB after meeting 2 girls in a nightclub and bringing them back to my appartment. They stole everything they could, and even went through my identity papers (most of which they took) while I was in a 4hr coma. I can imagine the horrible feeling women go through on waking up... I'm on medication that's hard for my liver so I can't really drink alcohol. I personally am taking a look into trying GHB if it doesn't affect the liver too much.

With GHB/GBL it's one nice hit, yes I agree the dose responce is steep and for new comers - do NOT do it in public because it can be easy to pass out on. His last few months were nothing remotely like the highs these people are talking about. He was in a very dark place that he found terrifying. No, he wasn't on anything else, only GHB, but an enormous amount of it, no kidding. The hospital, where he ended up in intensive care in a coma had never seen anything quite like it. His body was screwed. He died from withdrawal, (renal failure, pneumonia and muscle wastage). Through research, they are now discovering this happens. He knew the score and had done his reading. He'd warned my parents that he wouldn't live to 40. He was so right.

My brother was on it for over 15 years and as I say, he was having to take more and more of the stuff. I agree to some extent. GHB can be extremely dangerous if abused. Although physiologically almost benign it can cause overdose at only 2-3x the recreational dose, possibly even lethal. But taken responsibly it is also one of the safest drugs available. It's not drugs that are the problem, it's irresponsible drug use. No drugs kill at recreational doses, no drugs get you hooked from the first time, but some can cause problems at usage levels closer to the average than others.
