  • I have also a handmade hunting knife. Made in Damaskus steel, extremely sharp.

  • Gorgeous knife....That is a Hollow Grind...good for hunting and some skinning from the design so you can control the blade and not go to deep if you do not want but has a lot of length and belly to penetrate if you want to cut out some nice cuts out. It is not really good at cutting down trees! I am glad you never did that with such a knife! haha

  • Awsome knife, iv grown an interest inthem and guns

  • where can you still buy these from?

  • very nice!!!!

  • very nice knive

  • how is john i like your 45 colt blackpowder

  • The knife probably says G. For Greg and then his last name

  • It's like watching Bilbo Baggins examining the sting sword made by the elves. Amazing.

  • It's amazing how a well crafted knife just plain FEELS special. They are addictive.

  • old files work awesome for knive's just find an old file and finish on the grinder you alreay have a shank you can rivet or tread for a handle. plus the steel they used for old files is good.band saw blades make nice fillet knife's too. can't afford a custom knife so bought a carbide grinding wheel instead. you know where to find harded steel in somthing they recycle? can't afford damcaus.

  • Now that's a collectible, Lile was a legend.

My first custom knife was a Red River Bowie by Don Hastings, one of the 4 founders of the American Bladesmith Society.

I waited 2 years for that knife, and caught the knife forging bug myself during the wait.

Don Hastings passed away while I was waiting for my knife,, but fortunately his employee Dwayne Parrish bought the business and still makes Hastings knives to this day.

  • my idea of a perfect design

  • Wonderful knife.

  • Really sweet blade hickok. Color me green with envy.

  • Awesome knife..a real piece of history..

  • i love it how hickok says he isnt a knife expert but yet he knows alot about them! :-)

  • Beautiful blade! Thanks for sharing it with us!

  • great knife.

  • That is just a gorgeous blade. Thank you.

  • A real beauty.

    Always enjoy your knife videos.

  • that's a beautiful knife

  • LIKE THAT

  • Hey I bought a 70$ knife from CRKT it's the m16-14sfg. It's a nice knife. I like it

  • $125 in 1975 is around $505 today so yeah that must've been a major purchase for a knife. I bet there are some Lile fans that would pay even a bill or two more for it if it's near mint. But it'd definitely be worth more to keep and pass on to grandchildren rather than cash out for $650 or so.

  • For a while I was wondering why you taped over your name, but then I realized I never knew your real name! You're Hicock45 in my mind =p

  • very nice knife.. thanks for sharing.

  • puts my trusty mtech from big5 to shame. thanks hickok45 for ruining my life! good day sir!

  • Just something about a really nice knife. I've got several high end knives and really enjoy them. Thanks for showing.

  • YOU DONT HUNT?!?!?! I'm 13 and i hunt.

  • why dont u want us to know ur name ? like why did u tape it up

  • @LedZepplin3853 cause he doesnt want ppl to know his name? you can do alot of stuff just by knowing his general location and his real name

  • @LedZepplin3853 , Like, think about it. :-)

  • @hickok45 But your name is on your channel. Greg? Love your videos!!

  • @LedZepplin3853 Ever hear of personal privacy?

  • @LedZepplin3853 first name greg however i can tell you all about nutnfancy if you want i mean almost every thing

  • @LedZepplin3853 If you knew his name then you know where he lives his name and you could look in the phonebook and get his address. DUHH!!!

  • @WickedVids4u

So what? I mean i understand him for not wanting us to know his name, as theres no point, but to what you just said - so what?

  • @MyDoominateR What if you are a hater and you just go raid his house and steal his thousands of dollars in guns and ammo. He is probably just taking it safe so that doesn't happen.

  • @WickedVids4u

Is this really the american mentality? You couldve just said it's probably because its nice to have some privacy. What kind of a dumbass would break into Gregs house, anyway, knowing how good of a shooter he is, and how many guns he has. Not to mention, i dont think anyone hate this guys, thats pretty much impossible!

  • @LedZepplin3853

His name is Hickok45....like actually XD

  • @LedZepplin3853

Its hickok... U know... THE FAMOUS GUY.

    GERD

  • @LedZepplin3853

Probably because if he showed his name, he would wake up the next morning to a line of thousands of people at his front door wanting to use his range. lol.

  • @762BR Or, if they're unwise, trying to steal his guns. lol

  • @LedZepplin3853 go to his main page its on there

  • Beautiful knife

  • Does this come with polymer grip? ha ha just joking.

  • nice knife

  • Hey, do you use throwing knives? :)

  • Love the occasional non-gun video! Helps to keep a little variety in the channel.

  • That is a beauty. People may remember his First Blood knife. Great maker. I morned when he died in the early 90s. The handle reminds me of a Bob Loveless. Pretty sure Loveless copied Lile's design. Who wouldn't.

  • beautiful piece, thanks for sharing.

  • Beautiful Knife. I have was given a LAGUIOLE knife with raindeer antler handle at christmas. hand made from France but like the Lile knife I wont actually use it because its too nice. I love holding it.

    Thanks Again

  • he finnaly ran out of guns .

  • do you have any knives made with Damascus steel?

  • what?!?!?! A video under 30 min! Youre slipping '45

  • that is a very awesome knife, simple yet elegant. really liking the shape of the blade =D and a cool story behind it

  • excellent video, that knife is terrific

  • Amazing knife! great video as usual!

  • Wow, what a beautiful knife!!!! Love it!

  • beautiful blade...if you every want to sell, I got a brand new 50 dollar bill ready for ya. After all, that thing is way old and not worth the price of new. hehe

  • That's a beauty! Thanks for sharing, hickok45, sir!

  • Work of art .

  • Beautiful knife. Thanks for sharing. Keep up the good work.

  • Whoa... One word for that sucker: Pretty.

  • why dont you want us to know your name?

  • Have you heard of Randall Knives?

  • Nice blade. I'm the same way with my ESEE RC-4 knife. Too nice to use. :)

  • Very nice piece, I like how the tang tapers down the handle I dont think i've ever seen one like that. Thanks for sharing.

  • i dont know how you managed to take a story of a ups guy delivering you a package and make it inspiring.

    a fantastic show as always : )

  • Sweet blade. Sometimes pride in ownership is worth more than money. That knife is irreplaceable. Thanks for sharing.

  • If you had to choose one knife for everything I'd say it'd have to be the good old Ka-Bar. I got two. Ones a new one and ones from Iwo Jima that my grandfather brought home. That is a nice shiny knife you have though. Looks comfortable too.

  • That is an absolutely beautiful knife! The stag handle Looks so well made I am in love at first sight with that blade!!

  • would be interested to see more of your knive collection. This one is a beauty! Thanks for sharing.

  • Sweet knife chief, but Ballistol stiiiinks!

  • lets guess hickok45's name im gonna say Jim.

  • that sure is a sweetheart... i'm a sucker for nice stag. nice knife, hickok!

  • ahh its nice to be able to come to the Hickok45 channel and get away from all the TNPer drama!!! lol

  • Are you a homesteader @Hickok45? You seem to fit the 'profile'... I'm just starting out with homesteading, albeit sub-urban but its a start... Hehe Only veggies, can't have animals or the HOA will bitch and complain... When saudi falls apart and there's no food at giant then the HOA can kiss my ass for my produce lol

  • @Aronkarason u in the UK? A police state where 'big brother' would make US citizens poop a brick? Lol

  • winchester also makes knifes i have alot of them

  • I've seen them for around $700.

  • Beautiful! I've got a passion for knives, and guns, unfortunately I live in a country that restricts knife size to 12cm/4.5 inches! and forbids handguns! and semi-automatic firearms!

Still I torment myself by watching Hickok45 every single day, doing what I would love to be able to do at all.

Keep it up Hickok, got my view on any vid.

  • very cool

  • @parrothead2581 Shut the fuck up.

  • I really wish that there were more craftsman of Lile's standard around... I've always admired the skill and beauty involved in creating blades of this standard... I remember seeing a Japanese swordsmith forging a blade from a single block into a samurai blade... The time and care on items like this far surpass their monetary value... Lovely blade Hickok... I'd have that mounted in a glass box not in the safe ;-)

  • I like the knife videos.

  • Thanks for sharing. It is a beautiful knife.

  • you have good taste

  • for something about that piece if tape bother me but its a beautiful knife

  • For a 35 year old knife both it and the sheath look brand new. Thanks for the video.

  • Thank You, for sharing that...I love my "guns" but I will always pick a knife first when it comes to survival....but wow that knife is a piece... I use my knives hard but was happily surprised and what not you hadn't changed its originality...KUDOs.

  • beauty....

  • I don't suppose you own a Rob Simmonich or Trace Rinaldi?

  • Great knife

  • FIRST NON-FAQ VID. W/O SHOOTING!

  • Hickok,,,Why did you tape over your mane ? Your fans want to know your name,,,hahahaha

  • hey hickok love your vidios there great. you should check out this machete called the woodsman pal i own one and i use it in my forestry work blazing trees and clearing trails. Its my best friend in the woods I feel like you would apreiciate the well crafted steel.

  • b-e-a-utiful piece of bone and steel.

  • That's not fair! Big John gets everything! ;^{P> -- Very nice sir...thank you for sharing!

  • WOW! you paid about 100 sumthing for it then....now its worth about 5 times more i bet!

  • crap no chance you sell it ? :)

  • The wait time on a Randall is rediculous, and Randalls are now made by a group of guys, not an individual maker such as Bo Randall. If you want a handmade knife just the way you want it for a "resonable" price. Check out Gary Wheeler from Clarksville, Tennessee. I have 3 of his blades and it is better than my 1 Randall. Dan Mink from Florida is also good.

  • Im pretty sure this is the only video of Hickok's Ive seen with no gunfire, and I've seen every single vid he's made

  • Wow that knife is absolutely beautiful. They sure don't make them like they used to.

  • @cobolt13 Don't think you're going to get far with that attitude.

Doubt you're going to get very far at all.

  • AMEN !!! on the Ballistol Greg.

  • @SwannyHD Because he don't want no dirka dirka Jihad America hater at his door. LOL

  • what about russian/soviet knives?

  • u kept that knife looking so nice, looks like u just bought it new of the shelves and its nearly40 years old...

  • Beautiful knife for a proud infidel.

    I love this.

  • Its such a classic you are holding there Hickok45! Its a piece of history in the knife evolution. What a good way to show appreciation to Jimmy Lile's Knife collection and series.

Once again, thank you Hickok45 for showing such a beautiful piece of craftmanship.

  • What a beauty. That thing is worth like 1k

  • What a beauty

  • Thanks for sharing.

  • That is a very nice looking knife. Really like that handle.

  • Great video and thnx for sharing a fav. of yours. I have an old Pal 35, nothing special and is well used. But to think of the things it has seen makes it all the more interesting to hold it in your hand. Have thought about using it, but cannot bring myself to take it out.

  • ★★★★★

  • @cobolt13 If you were more mature you would understand that swearing without context has no meaning.

You're a monumental failure of a troll, bud.

  • Never mind I just saw The Knives of Rambo pop up.

  • If memory serves me, wasn't Jimmy Lile the maker of The First Blood Hollow Handle Knife?

  • beautiful knife... it's almost a shame not to use it.

  • I understand completely how much appreciation there is for a knife with personal history behind it. I have a knife given me by an Uncle, one by close friend I lost to a heart condition, and I even have one with morse code on one side and Hopalong Cassidy on the other I dug up in a ditch at the parsonage and they all mean something to me because of the memories they evoke. Handcrafted means the artist put a little of himself with every edge, hilt, and handle.

  • Nice knife.... I think it could be EDC....

  • @hickok45 you do go hunting...for zombies

  • hickock, if you want to sharpen it i would suggest you look into stropping. if you do a little bit often the knife never really gets dull (if not abused) and its really more of polishing the edge rather than sharpening, so there is almost no risk of making any kind of scratches like may happen with sharpening. the compound is pretty cheap and i know you probably have some leather scraps lying around.

  • @27dcx heck, i'll make you one if you want.

  • That is a very nice knife. I collect some but mostly case. Great video.

  • I'm from Russellville, AR which is Jimmy Lile's hometown, cool to know you have one of his knives

  • Lucky you. What a treasure.

  • Thanks for showing the knife it looks very well built.

  • John. Your a very lucky man to have a father like Hickok. I love firearms, alway have alway will. My family doesn't care much for them. So I didn't grow up around them. Now I've started my collection so that when I have kids I can share my passion with them.

  • That's one sweet knife.

  • One of the best knives I've ever seen. Thanks for sharing.

  • when hickok says he has a "few" knifes, he means he has atleast over 300.

  • @JustCauseVids, Actually, I more "self-controlled" when it comes to knives. I do have a weakness for certain knives I see, though.

  • @JustCauseVids And if he says a "few" guns, he means over 700. Lol

  • Real nice knife

  • Do you have a favorite oil or treatment for using on your knife blades?

  • @joshmarcinik , The only lube and cleaner I use on knives and guns is Ballistol. I really like the stuff, and I like to keep things simple.

  • @hickok45 Hahaha, Hickok...You know, come thanksgiving, do you baste your turkey with Ballistol? You seem to use it for everything else :oD

  • @hickok45 Have you ever used Japanese water stones to sharpen and polish the edge? If not, I recommend them. Check out Ray Mears using a set in his camp

  • @joshmarcinik hickok uses ballistol instead of milk for his cereal composed of 45 brass :)

  • You seem to have made some good choices even though they were expensive. Thanks for sharing them with us.

  • What do you think about Ontario knives?

  • i have an old smith an wesson .38special with grips exactly like those

  • trusty ballistol.. ordered 2 cans today for my glock from your recomendation : )

  • pre-internet days? you mean there hasnt always been google? how did you survive? lol

  • Do you have any folding knives or are you a fixed blade is best blade kinda guy?

  • @lawrencetimmons94 , Oh, yes, I'm a Sypderco guy. I have a video on my primary carry knife.

  • @hickok45 I saw it, i got the same blade! I also have a cold steel recon 1, which is a bit bigger but I like it better, its stronger. I'd recommended checking it out.

I really love all these reviews by the way, I'd love to see more knife reviews!

  • Is there a tiny bit of rust on the hand/finger guard? It looked like some minor marks of discoloration on the front of it (where your pointer finger would touch).

Just don't want you getting any! That is a irreplaceable.

  • @AllfatherGuideUs , Definitely no rust.

  • Mr.Hickock, very good knife you got there....Really good...I'm also having some rare

knives (Glen Avaritt)and particullary i'm in love with damascus blade or wootz blades.

I have one wootz knife from Oleg Krimlin....Also I'm trying to be a bladesmith by my self just for the fun and the experience of doing that and i really enjoy it..

I would thank you for all the educational videos about the firearms, here in Greece such videos are really a treasure, especially for me...My best regards Mr.Hickock

  • Thank you for sharing Hickok45!

  • Love the lines on that beauty!

  • Nice blade you have there hickok..I like your knife reviews/ "show and tell" keep em coming and thanks for sharing!...T

  • I liked seeing the knife, and I can appreciate you wanting to keep it in pristine condition. For myself though, if I get a knife like that, I'm going to use it. I'm sure I just made a few collectors gasp in shock, but I'm not a collector. When I buy a knife, it's a tool; and although I buy high-quality tools, and take care of them, tools are meant to be used.

Before anyone sends rage comments my way, ask yourself what Mr. Lile would say, if nobody ever used the knives he made?

  • @LemmeLieHere, I think the same way with guns, as I shoot old Colts and things that a lot of people would handle with white gloves; however, knives are a bit different for me. I guess it's the fact that you actually grind on them, and as long as I have knives in all the sizes I like that I sharpen and use, I just see no need to file and grind on others that are essentially the same but just "prettier" or more collectible and such.

  • @hickok45 - I'm a straight razor shaver and have razors that are from the mid 19th century that still look great, even after being passed down through generations of different users. I know what you mean, though; it's nice to keep your knives looking nice. I'll bet most knives disappear due to guys losing them, not using them.

  • @hickok45 I agree, re: using knives vs. 'collecting' them. I will not buy any knife that is not usable, but that doesn't mean I feel compelled to use all my knives. And I think most high end knife makers would be just as honored having their knives collected and valued highly as they would be by having them used and eventually worn out.

Beautiful knife, many thanks for showing it.

  • That is a peach of a knife.

  • @KarlssonGroup , That's right; I'd forgotten about that.

  • one person got stabed when they were little

  • Those are extremely expensive

  • That is a great knife! I hope you will keep the tradition going by not sharpening it :D

  • oh man, that is beautiful! i love it.

  • One gorgeous knife you got there. Love to see knife videos too.
