  • Where is Buile Hill Park??

  • Great video, but also quite sad ..............when i work around this area now, all I see is Halal food, depressed people, unemployment, poverty, spongers and run down housing association houses..........and the gangs of scally's that roam around

  • I was born in Lord Nelson Street 1967,brought back distant memories

  • @warrenpeterbithell

Fascinating , did you recognise anyone , or does your family recognise anyone? Several of my family lived on the street at that time. Gilli

  • @profutube01 Doubt if I recognise anyone but my mum might,I will show her the video at weekend and see if she does

  • did I see people doing the whit walks .. I remember them days

  • @AS6VIDEO

Yes you did, I have a vague recollection of being in the walks. Gilli

  • Rock on Broughton Modern (class of 72), China King, Poets Corner, Dirty Dick & Vinegar Vera, candle factory fire, that Italian ice cream from Lower Broughton Road, Broad Street & Cross Lane shops, Disc City and fog! I was born in Burnley but grew up in Lower Broughton / Pendleton. My roots are Salford!

  • youd be arrested if you took pictures of kids now .......isnt that sad

  • Notice how spotless the whole place is? No litter, kids all turned out immaculately, houses well looked after.

    What the hell went wrong?

Thanks for posting this, I was born in Lower Broughton 1958 and it looked just like this.

  • Not a mp3 player or mobile phone in sight, just young people playing and enjoying themselves.

  • This is a fantastic video. Great snap shot of life way back when, now sadly lost forever.

  • wow

  • Yes, great clip. The NW Film Archive would be very interested too I'm sure :) And do I see an interlacing artefact, could this be restored even better? If you run a deinterlace filter after capture you can get rid of that stripe effect, assuming it isn't on the source.

  • @UKArchiveTV

I think it may be on the source , it was very neglected before it came into my hands. Damaged badly and moldy. It would be nice if it could be improved. Thanks Gilli

  • XCLNT! more like this please.

    Do we know the street?

  • hi thanks , Lord Nelson st , best g

  • when they knocked it all down and built flats , scattering the community to the four winds....they destroyed the soul/spirit of the comminity !!! Impressed by your observations , thank you gillix

  • The place looked so homely and safe back then.Where did it all go wrong!
