I do have a question about iMovie. In the '09-version, they removed the support for video layers. That kind of sucks, because I want to be able to add pictures and other videos on top of the current one. Do you know a solution for it? I'd love to be able to use my Mac for videos, too.

Hey Maw5! Thanks for your comment. Actually, people who have bought a new Mac recently will get an even better offer. Then you can upgrade to Snow Leopard for less than 10 euro (only shipping and handling is charged) =).
There is an adapter that you can get so that you can plug in your PC's monitor. That would give you a dual monitor setup on you iMac. That's how I have it setup at home. I bought a Samsung monitor and an adaptor and I'm using the Samsung monitor as my secondary display. It's nice to have two screens when you do things like video editing or web development. The web developer at my work has his coding software in one screen and a test browser on the other. ;-)
Hey Sam! Thanks for all your tips! I followed an iMac workshop before buying it, so I already learned some stuff. Other than that, I'll definitely check the instruction videos by Apple out and stay subscribed to the leading Mac-users on YouTube.
I think my iMac is a newer generation, that comes with a smaller keyboard. It's the 2.93Ghz, 4 GB, 680 GB type to be exact.
By the way... I made this very video with iMovie, so I'm already getting the hang of it :-).
For sure yours is a newer generation. I got mine mid 2007. It has OS X 10.4. It's Core2 Duo 2 GHz. It came with 1 GB but I upgraded it to 4 GB, OCZ brand RAM. It came with a 250 GB hard drive and I replaced it with a 1 TB high performance hard drive about two weeks ago. I was impressed with the quality design and engineering of Apple when I disassembled my computer to replace the hard drive. It's a very well built machine.
I learnt the reason why they are so quiet. They use centrifugal fans instead of axial fans and they are shock mounted to the case with rubber so there is no transference of vibration. The hard drive is also shock mounted with four rubbers and a little foam bumper that goes between it and the casing. The speakers are two way. There is a tiny woofer and a tweeter. It's just very impressive. Those guys are geniuses.
Yes, you have finally joined the rank of Mac users. It's weird that the keyboard you have is so small. Mine is longer and it has a numeric keypad at the end. At first, I didn't like that keyboard at all but after a day or two, I liked it better than a regular keyboard. I've never been a fan of the mighty mouse. I tossed mine into a box and I'm using my Logitech mouse. One tip about the mighty mouse: as well as right-click, you can also middle-click (like clicking the mouse wheel).
IIRC, it's not setup to sense right-click and middle-click out of the box. You have to go set it in system preferences.
A few tips since you're new to mac
Programmes don't close when you close the last window like they do in Windows. You have to go into the menu and choose quite or use the keyboard shortcut command-Q.
You can switch between programmes by using command-tab (same as alt-tab in Windows).
