Corollas are excellent cars. My 1989 Corolla Exec Auto, not that dissimilar in condition to this one, has strong rubber bump strips all around it. These resist minor to harder scuffs. These have long vanished as design features. Why is this? A small similar nudge on this or any modern car will result in a £500 ($750) repair bill. Anybody from Toyota please explain?

You're leaving out that it is reliable and it is an ECONOMICAL car. It's not meant to have insane features to "AW" people. I recommend you take out the XRS, that model is meant to have a sportier suspension and feel. The XLE not in any way does.

It's all about being economical with the Corrolla. Something Toyota does a quite good job with. This car will go up to at least 250-350K miles.

I have a 2009 corolla standard model. And let me say, it's a great riding car, noise from the engine is minimal, sometimes i forget that the car is even on. It's comfortable, and has a lot of pep for 132hp. well worth 13k

I love my Corolla. I have a 1.4 diesel hatchback (british made 2006 model) and it's a pleasure to drive. It just feels tough and looks brand new every time I get into it. But the new models... too much thin plastic on the inside, I was really shocked. Ok, Mp3 player is a nice feature but I didn't see the Aux input in the european versions. Americans might get better versions, but the turkish made ones are a sad sight. If this keeps up, my next car will be a Volvo/Saab.

I bought a 2007 new Hyundai Sonata for less than 16.5K out of the door. It has more power and more comfortable than the Corolla. It is faster and the quality is high. Corolla buyers are missing out great deals on other brands not really famous like Toyota but the quality is there. Drive a 2009 Sonata and you will be convinced that Toyota cars are overpriced.

Future XRS is going to be just on time for another kiddiracer model - Lancer Ralliart. I'd still prefer Lancer ES cause it has CVT which is great for city driving.

This new corolla looks cool, but the only thing I'm not impressed with is that the base engine is not that much more powerful than in the old model & the XRS model only has 158hp compared to the old XRS which had 170hp, but will have a choice between manual & automatic transmissions where in the old model was manual only. I own a 06 S model.

But the new XRS should have about 161 lb/ft of torque vs. 128 lb/ft of torque in the old XRS. They probably chose the torqued engine for the new XRS because it'll be a better match with an automatic.
