@Steamboat12002 I'll take soul over skill any day. As the poster already pointed it, it's not the best solo in the world. But it does it's job, i.e. a focal point of the song that the crowd can go wild at. And when this solo is played live, the crowd can't get enough. So much better than a slow, 2 minute long solo that the crowd can go "Oh yeah, that was quite nice" at.
i think the live version of the New Born solo is waay better than this, even tho invincible's a fantastic song and i can play the solo (yay!) muse are definitely top of the list of bands id LOVE to see!
"Wanky"? Bahahahahahaha! Thanks for adding a new word to my vocabulary!
Go listen to your mediocre 80's rock mate... because Matthew Bellamy, Dominic Howard and Chris Wolstenholme are some of, if not THE most talented musicians of our time, not just being able to play the fastest & loudest (not saying they can't) but actually creating amazing music and lyrics.
*sigh* I wasn't able to read what Invisible said because all the muppets flagged it as spam where it was probably an opinion, but my response is to you, because some of 80s rock is the best ever and I just think its such a narrow way to think, especially the way you structured your opinion. Muse are present day music, but just because you like 'trendy stuff' doesn't mean you should basically put people who don't like it down...
Yeah okay, I agree, some 80's rock is awesome, and I don't just like 'trendy' stuff. I understand what your saying and I agree. But if you had seen what he had said you would have thought differently. I think?
I'm not trying to start an argument by the way. I had to add that seeing a lot of the YouTube users are idiots...
admiral17, can i just point out the fact, dream theater are heavily influenced by muse, if you listen to never enough ( i think thats what its called) its a blatent rip off of stockholm syndrome, and just cos a song is in a diff signature dont make it any better...
suck a fat donkey cock dream theatre themselves even say they have been influenced by muse so you stop chatting shit, and yes im a little indie fagboy me, eventhough i hate indie music so well done on judging me without knowing me you emo fag stfu
Bellamy is much better at guitar than, say, this solo shows him to be. This is relatively simple in comparison to what he's capable of. Check out Matt playing New Born at Kroq in 2004.
How can you show so much hate towards someone you don't even know? It's sad. Especially since Matt Bellamy is absolutely phenomenal in every way and that people who hate him are just insanely jealous of him.
lol bellamy is awsome and you know it your just jelouse of his awsomeness and infact i think he is so awsome that if he started floating whilst playing the guitar then the whole universe would just explode from awsomeness!
that's really not that uncommon. many great guitar players taught themselves how to play; and you don't have to learn the notes; it's all in playing by ear, learning by listening how the notes work and sound together
Thats not true, at the start you couldn't read guitar music(this is when he was still a teenager) He now can read music very well he is a classical trained Pianist and Guitarist.
Yeah there are definitely more intricate solos out there from many other bands - most experienced guitarists can play a more complicated solo than this one, but i've yet to find a guitarist who can write a song as well as Matt Bellamy can! Plus the effects make up for the lack of shredding, where else do you get this kind of awesome sound? :P
@laurieclarke effects never make up for shredding. its generic. not that i dislike muse.. but when people say hes the greatest guitarist on the planet. i hit them really hard for being retarded faggots
@rmarino4471, I agree with much of what you have said but being the greatest doesn't always mean playing the fastest or something of that nature. I agree that Matt isn't the greatest guitarist ever, and he himself would clearly admit that too, but he does put a lot of passion into his work that is hard to find these days. He doesn't always play insanely fast, but he always plays with passion. That's what makes him great, not the greatest but great nonetheless.
@AktivityNow what many of you are trying to say is. he's a great musician, he takes a great deal out of what he can do... all im saying is i refuse to put him at the top of the guitar player pyramid. compared to people like srv, hendrix, hetfield, mustaine, page, and a list that i can go on with for hours. he's got nothing, is not, and will never be on their level. fact
A good solo doesn't have to mean a super fast shredding. Matt's solos are melodic! There are so many out there that can play really fast but not so many that can make such cool solos as Matt can.
Is bad quality but you can hear the passion he puts on it!!! It's amazing!!!! Matttastic

You get WAY better solo's than that. It's not that skillful, rather simply put together I believe. Try Dime Clinic to see what soling is about.

Those better solos you are talking about consist of bog standard, shredding that you can hear in most metal songs.
It's boring.
