  • when I first heard this song, i though it was Seal. sounds very much like him!

  • Its your past. It has been forgiven.

  • beautiful song

  • Kevin Smith lives right around the corner from me in Grand Rapids, MI. He really is a cool guy.

  • @rosiesapig lucky lol

  • 1996...wow can remember it like yesterday when this came out! Senior year in high school, one of the best years of my life

  • i love this song. i always wonder what was in the box? :/

  • @unologo43 His sins and regrets. His soul (dropping it off at the cleaners??) Not sure, but I love speculating.

  • @unologo43 the cards from sakura ;) ... joke ... I luv the song too

  • @unologo43 Supposedly the holy grail. The COMPLETE Pokeman card set!

  • @unologo43 OMGosh....that so drives me crazy....I also want to know what was in that box!!!(LOL)!

  • I will never be tired of hearing this song. LOVE it!

  • One of my favorites!

  • I love this song!

  • this is one of two of my fave dc talk songs...

  • Super!

  • I love this song.... What happen to these guys, did they break up? Cause tobymac is now solo and dc talk hasnt put out anything in years....

  • @ocasio3024 they've been hiatus for years. the guys are talking about doing a reunion tour sooner or later but with toby and kevin's solo careers and tait now the lead singer of Newsboys, the timing has to be right.

  • Show ball music. really cool

  • I love listening to this song! It reminds me that if ever you need to repent, he will always welcome you back :D

  • oh, , i guess it's kind of a clue too that they're doing dirty laundry...

  • saw something else. if u come to the same conclusion of what i think it is(BELOW), it fits then that as the guy goes to ck out what's in the box, the red-haired lady, sort of out focus, dances like one of the running pursuers, bcuz of the guy's intention to ck out what is in the box, & just before they open it she stares, but behind the glass of the dryer door, blocked, sort of, just like they blocked u sort of from what's in that man's box, cuz if u think it's what i do, we don't need to know

  • inside the box represented the one thing everybody has that they are constantly dogged by, pursued, hounded, etc.--a clue is given to what it is when the strange lady w/ the red hair holds up an old black & white photo--when u accept christ, its something that once forgiven you can stop being worried about, throw it away & be at peace like the guy who walks calmly out of the bldg. (even though everybody else wants to know what it is!). in the same spirit of the video i'm not going to say. guess

  • @turquoise770 Wow Turquoise, very precise, and well put!!

  • @TheFunChrissy well, i'm only speculating. some band member could come along and say, "no, we didn't mean that at all". and i guess that would be funny, but then i would be interested in what it all meant, if anything.

  • dc home based group has a great sound

  • I'm so glad I found this I almost forgot thr name ofm this bend

    \

  • Here is a fantastic music video that the Christian world will love! It's called "Don't forget about the walk." It was written and created by a small town pastor that is also making a feature film and has written four books. You don't want to miss it! You can go to his website by going to alanmakimusicDOTcom and seeing his music video on the media tab or search for Alan Maki on youtube or Godtube. It would only take a second to look. Show some support! He has wonderful devotionals and an app too!

  • in the box: their note that mentioned their break up date. . .how they were to do it (by telling everyone they weren't breaking up) but going solo anyway, easing out of it with a few reunion tours and then joining other bands.. . (ala tait with newsboys) that was what was in the box.

  • Awesome song, great album...

  • The most important lyrics are missing from this radio edit.

  • @jrajesse ? I never heard that. What are they?

  • @caroleabumoussa

In my pursuit of God I thirst for holiness

As I approach the Son I must consider this

Offenses unresolved they'll keep me from the throne

Before I go to him my wrong must be atoned

  • @jrajesse Nice! <3 it!!!

  • I love this band and sonǵ... Iʾm 13 and Iʾve been a fan since I was 4 cos my mom listened to it alot... My momʾs impressed that I still listen to them..

    btw Iʾm Catholic :D

  • @TheKillerpony123 Awesome!!! They're great!

  • @caroleabumoussa they're awesome... :D

  • @TheKillerpony123 Thats just fine..Catholisism is just another way to believe in God and Christ...The substance is Jesus and your belief in his saving grace. See you up there.=)

  • @boopyboy1 :D see you up there too :D

  • @boopyboy1 Except that Catholicism is based upon worshiping an idol. Mary was the vessel for Jesus to be born, not someone to worship to.

"You must not worship the gods of these nations or serve them in any way or imitate their evil practices. Instead, you must utterly destroy them and smash their sacred pillars."

    Exodus 23:24

So, while I agree partly with your statement about Jesus, I do not agree with their beliefs.,

  • I remember I was a senior in highschool when it came out about this time of the year. I love how music can be like a time machine. That was one of the best years of my life. I traveled back home to northern california where it was played on the radio on a great day of being at the beach, sight seeing. Fuck I wish I could go back. >:|

  • Im pretty sure that i watched this video more then 190,528

  • Love this song! The message to forgive is powerful!

  • Such a beautiful song!

  • okay, what's really in the box?!

  • damn. i thought,as a kid, that this was a love song since it played on a soft rock station.

  • @cherubicnerd Great that it was something more though eh.

  • i also like to think that by the messege of the song about reconcile the box was a symbol about the guys troubles and he drop them and let them go...and inside the box was his burdens

  • @prophetkillz thats exactly it

  • i always liked to think that what they found in the box was their next music video lol then they would make a transition to it if these videos came out on dvd...they did but it wasnt a smooth transition...oh well its dc talk dang it....like em, love em..need em back

  • Toby Mac is so not the same now.

  • What was in the box?

  • wait, these guys all do their laundry together?

  • @astronautagogo yeah, thats the christian message xD

  • i love tobymac and newsboys, but this video just isn't good

  • I thought this was Seal at first.

  • i'm an atheist, but this is a good, soulful song that can speak to anyone. It also comes from a sincere place, which is what music needs more of these days.

  • @astronautagogo i like to think of myself as a "realist" rather than aethist.... i look at the facts and info that i see in reality...

if there's proof of god...then i would believe...but "the reality" is that the bible is wrong is soo many areas...

but still christians are the most well-grounded positive people on earth..........because they think there's a god who loves them....positive thinking leading to postive energy is also "reality"

  • @nikkiejanee1972 a good song for u would be DC Talk : Minds Eye :(

  • @nikkiejanee1972 But you have to wonder, the fact that only earth that we know of is the only planet with the perfect atmosphere, gravitational pull, perfect amount of sunlight and lunar rotation to support life. Does it not seem a little suspicious?

  • Man, if only TobyMac would try 2 get DC Talk together again for at least one more album. It would be a nice throwback to 90s Christian music, when the music could easily relate to everyone. A lot of new bands do nothing but worship music like u hear in churches. How do u expect to reach people with your music if it seems focused on only those already saved? That's what I like about Switchfoot not labeling itself a Christian band.

  • @GAdawgsfan93 I loved this comment.

Our church never really played any music except for like .. the slow worship songs. We went to Forward this year and TobyMac was there & then NewsBoys were at Winter Jam. [: We came back & played both of them in our chuch and tried to liven it up. I've never heard of DC Talk until I became a fan of TobyMac .. but I'd be amazing if they got back together for one more album .. they are amazing. <33

  • It is too odd watching this video with Lady Gaga as the site background.

  • 3:42 Dang!! I wanted to see if he had a shiny Charizard!!

  • We'll never know what's in that box!

  • Such a relaxing, easy-going song. My problems just melt away for awhile and I go into this dream zone of a song.

  • I forgot all about this song. This group reminded me a lot of Take That.

  • DCtalk is was a Christian pop group. Their band name stood for Decent Christian Talk. they were very popular during the 90s and early 2000s. one of their most famous songs was "jesus Freak."

  • who is dc talk

  • DC TALK is awesome we defiantly need more bands like them.

  • DCTALKDCTALKDCTALKDCTALKDCTALKDCTALKDCTALKDCTALKDCTALKDCTALKDCTALKDCTALKDCTA;KDCTALKDCTALKDCTALKDCTALKDCTALKDCTALKDCTALKDCTALKDCTALKDCTALKDCTALKDCTALKDCTALKDCTALKDCTALKDCTALKDCTALKDCTALKDCTALKDCTALK

  • I remember when this song was released...several of our hit/pop radio stations here in AZ played it...it was always rated high, and as I remember it was a hit at first. A listener had called one of the stations live on air and congratulated them on playing a Christian band (I don't think most people knew they were) and within a day or two all the stations here STOPPED playing the song..also dropped off the charts as soon as the press revealed they were a religious group. Pretty sad.

  • @brbgal Jesus Freak went way up the charts as well

  • @brbgal Not cool. Oh well - their loss.

  • @brbgal Very sad news, but thanks for that information. Also if you notice, the bridge that says "In my pursuit of God..." is cut out on the single/video version. I'm pretty sure the song "Godsend" was sent out as a pop single after this, but it obviously didn't recieve the same kind of sucess as this song.

  • @BRProvince I remember reading something in a CCM magazine about this in late 1995 or early 1996. The reason they cut out the bridge has nothing to do with the fact that the song was a religious one. They cut it out because radio singles have to be under 3 minutes and 50 seconds. The original album version was 5 minutes long and the only logical place to get it to the correct time length for airplay would be to cut out the bridge.

  • @fleetstreetfilms Oh yeah, I know - I just wish they hadn't had to cut out such a great part both artistically and spiritually.

  • Search "Dc Talk Toby Mac illuminati" on Google to find out what this band is really about... prepare Yourself For The Truth... God Bless

  • @Double8J I'm pretty sure you're a BAPTIST...

  • @RocketRodder Naww...

  • We all know that their pokemon cards were in that box

  • @JDBW I'll go ahead and put forth this explanation for the famous box: it's an allegory referring to what weighs people down, i.e. sin. "Confession needs to be made ..." In essence, throwing the box in the trash symbolizes confessing our sins. It's hard to argue with the Pokemon theory, though.

  • @sfarinas2 I know about the allegory of the box=sin.

However I'm betting those two DO want their pokemon cards back

  • @JDBW that's dum ,in reality there is a Bible in the box

  • @asiafire64 No sense of humor much Aye?

  • @JDBW Funny man...

  • @JDBW haha I remember the pokemon cards back in the late 90's

  • This song makes me happy and calms me down.

  • @sfarinas2 same effect on me. ;-) life feels so much lighter.

  • @sfarinas2 when ever i feel down i can listen to this song and it makes me feel like a million bucks

  • damn it! the whole video i was like, 'what's inside that box?' and just when i thought i was gonna find out... they cut it! ahhhh lol

great song and video thought :)

  • 10 people had to forgive out loud

  • What is a dislike button doing here???

  • I need someone to please gather all members of DC Talk and form a reunion tour please and thank you and if you can get them to make a new album. That would be great! :) And please for goodness sake tell me what was in the box. LOL!

  • what was in the box???? UGHHHH!! love the song:)

  • Great song, and as one person said, it sounds a lot like Seal. They are such an awesome band. I heard so much about them in the 90's, but never listened, because I wasn't a Christian at that time. So glad to say I'm now a Jesus Freak, and can fill my love of 90's music with songs that gives such glory to God!

  • I wish DC Talk would get back together!

  • @WingsOfASnowhiteDove toby mac is still pretty awsome

  • @BritishPatriot3 Oh yes, I sure loved them though. I think Jesus Freak is my fav. then What if I stumble. Whats your favorites?

  • @WingsOfASnowhiteDove Defintily what if i stumble, without a doubt. and also jesus is just alright is a good one :)

  • ugh, i hate how they leave out part of the song.. but so glad that michael tait joined newsboys! he has given them a whole new spin on the group.

  • @ashleyrwoodall yeah they left out the middle where it's the beautiful acoustic guitar and toby.. regardless, such an amazing song.

  • @Shoxfan11 Agree. I was like "hold on wasn't there.... oh yeah they cut some of the song out."

  • All glory, honor, and praise be to the LORD!!!!

  • I didnt realize TobyMac was in a dfferent group until last week. But then again I just came to christ last year.

  • @hoosierredneck1 its ok, you didn't know. Congratulations on becoming a Christian. May God Bless you and bless you. If you like Toby mac, you might also like Newsboys,Kutless, and the Sidewalk Prophets.

  • @sukimalooki30 I love all three of those groups! I saw Kutless, Sidewalk Prophets, and TobyMac at a concert here in Indiana and I thought they were awesome!

  • Aww CHEESE! I really wanted to see what was in the box!

  • As Brad Pitt Would say...Whats in the Boxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx!!!

  • Wait, this is a GOD song!? I feel dirty.

  • @melissahburt yes

  • @melissahburt a GOD song? if you dont mind me asking, what does that mean?

  • @TheZayin77 I'm pretty sure you know exactly what I mean, but I'll play along. I assumed it was a tacky 90s pop song, one of those "so bad it's good" oldies, completely secular. I have been deceived by radio editing. Now it's like, "surprise! You've been witnessed!"

  • @melissahburt actually i didnt know what you mean, and frankly i still dont

  • @melissahburt thats a sad thing?

  • Their creativity and versatility at this point in their career , for me, is reminiscent of the Beatles back in the day. Dc Talk , as a group, blows me away!

  • @MrCwII Brother, true that! There will never be another group close to dc Talk. Wish they'd get back together for a bit. Probably won't happen, at least for a while, now that Tait's a newsboy.

  • And "don't sin by letting anger control you." Don't let the sun go down while you are still angry

    Ephesians 4:26

But if you forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses

    Matthew 6:15

  • And "don't sin by letting anger control you." Don't let the sun go down while you are still angry

    Ephesians 4:26

  • don't let the sun go down on your anger...

  • if you saw the longer version of the video it a bible in the box

  • For those wondering what's in the box, listen to the words of the song. Don't make it anymore complicated than what it really is. What an awesome song. Thank You DC Talk!

  • last heard aprox 15 years, still very actual.

these guys are good, pity they're not together anymore...

it's 1 minute for 12, the earth is in turmoil, with earthquakes, floods and everything, when will we hear the voice of the Lord who is calling??

not long before He comes to take us home......

  • first time i hear this song i thought it was seal - the voice and the music is very much similar :)

  • What's in the box?????

  • When my friend and i would argue in school i would secretly show her this song and with out saying anything i said sorry

  • I like dc talk

  • Decent christian talk is one of my favorite bands...i remember listening to this when i was little...

  • what was in the box: his life, his secrets, everything the world could use against him, but once he decided to let go of it he escaped his pursuers

  • One of my all time favorite music videos of all time.

  • What was in the box?

  • noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo! WHAT WAS IN THE BOX!

  • Great son but only one complaint: not enough Toby!

  • he couldnt escape until those guys got in the way of his pursuers (2:35), a note to christians, dont be afraid to get in front of someone's pursuers it could be an eternity of difference.

  • What a great great great awsome lyric and melody and soooooooooooooooo true .

  • These guys have a totally special message =) I especially love Jesus Freak and Colored People. Their songs are relevent and real. They deal with real issues that every Christian faces. I've been listening to them since I was a teenager =)

  • MAN!,,, What the heck was in the box? :o

  • @desiglas Supposed to be the Bible according to an earlier post. However, I have interepreted that the object in the Box is the general "TRUTH", something which those who want to hold on to the superstructure would want to suppress.

  • @cris750 Thanks,I think?

  • Comment removed

  • I find Relient K's cover of this song better-Not saying this song ain't good, it still is.

  • To Cris 750, yes I do believe in the literal interpretation of the Bible...why wouldn't I? It was inspired by God and since God doesn't lie, it stands to reason that every single story (yes, including the Adam and Eve story) is true! The point isn't the interpretation of the Bible, it is that he sent his son to die for our sins as a free gift, you keep skirting that subject (something people do when they feel uncomfortable about sin...which we all do.) It's okay, he died for you too.

  • To Cris 750..um...right...well, the ONE creator is Jesus, God, and the Holy Spirit...all three in one, so I suppose you're on the right page if you're answering to at least one of them because they all encompass a loving God! :)

  • These guys remind me of Seal and Sting if they did a duet

  • EXELENTE GRACIAS A QUIEN LOS SUBIO EN ESTA CALIDAD ES LOMEJOR D LO MEJOR!!!!

  • for those watching the whole way thru , what was in the box? lol

  • How old is this video?

  • I was in... Skillet playlist... and Justin Bieber thing came up e_o

  • Not Judaism. Some form of Deism!

  • @cris750 deism, like jefferson's idea? hmmm deism is a form of Christianity... its just the doctrine of deists says that God is impersonal and if that were so why would he send his son? why wouldnt he just kill us all? after all, people hate the idea of God

  • @TheZayin77 yes,Jefferson's idea and THOMAS PAINE mostly! Deism refutes trinity concept. It accepts the idea of One God or One Creator through causality(cause and effect). However, it rejects the idea that the Books of the Bible and Quran and others because of mistakes in these books! Read Thomas Paine's - Age of Reason.

  • I'm not christian. I just like the theme of the song where someone is persecuted because of a book. In the future, it will definately be people who are neither Muslim nor Christian but have some information of importance.

  • @cris750 I would suggest highly you reflect about the end of your life...one day you will be held accountable for your sins. God sent his son (in the form of himself) as the ultimate sacrifice for ALL and EVERYONE'S sins...it was a gift from God becuz he knew his people would end up in hell for eternity if he didn't, (nobody who has the stain of sin can enter heaven). The gift isn't forced though, but given freely, accepted or discarded freely. The only problem is if we refuse the gift,

  • @mbt777 I have and I answer to the One Creator! not Jesus nor Islamic ideas barrowed from the Christian-Judaic ideas.

  • @cris750 Cris, I would certainly reflect on your decision to turn your back on the one true God. We are all sinful in the eyes of God, we have a sinful nature (starting from the Garden of Eden). We've been given a free gift though (not forced) of eternal life with God, we just need to accept the gift of it. It is our choice really to accept the gift. The reason one can't get to heaven without this gift is because Heaven is so perfect, sin is not allowed in. So accepting the gift assures this.

  • @mbt777 So, you think Adam & Eve were literal people or symbolic? "Original sin" is a foreign concept. You have many things twisted. There are passages within the Books of Jeremiah and Ezekiel which speaks against original sin and many other Christian concepts foreign to the Jewish belief system.

  • @cris750 its not a book per se however it is represented by a book (christians like to use metaphors a lot!)

  • @TheZayin77 I know. That is why I have interpretated it as the "truth" rather than a book or the symbolic representation of the Bible.

  • I LOVE this SONG And this VIDEO

  • This song sure brings back memories. Sure wish they got back together and exalt Jesus this way.

  • Ephesians ch.4

  • @Thirdshiftzombie i love that verse!
