FAA carry on approved, but the real question is there's a limit weight on a carry on baggage so lets say 10 kilos is the limit and you exceeded 10 kilos what now? still its gonna get toss and turn in the baggage area.
Don't go over the limit then its not rocket science. This case just gives you the means and maximum space to have as hold. Maybe you should ask for a gravity defying case?
