i have a 500gb HD from a laptop i put it in ps3 it never worked its SATA but its 7200rpm how can i get it 2 work do i need put any files on the HD before puttin in ps3

Can i put my 250gb slim hard drive into a 40gb console? mine got the 80010514 error code so im waiting to get a 40gb but wanna know if its possible/safe to switch?!?

and thats it! It just works, I did the same freaking thing im upgrading from a 60 GB to the 250 GB sata 5400 rpm blah blah and I put that thing in and it has stayed formatting on 1% for the last 8 hours. what the hell is wrong, can someone help?

@TheSpiralQueenTSQ should work for all models. unless ur using slim which has a different technique of disesmbling the harddrive compartment.
