Who's Greg Boyd Rocky MT. Thunder was Dean LaRosa. he was my best friend and was The Corner before he Passed away In 2002. We all Miss you Dean. RIP brother.
Sufer looks a little bit like Kevin Von Erich....only the face, he didn't had the body or the talent of Kevin, of course. and Thunder had the size, but not the talent. Hey, at least he tried to achieve his dream, nothing wrong with that.
I notice there wasn't much of a reaction from the people facing Thunder, possibly because they were bored or couldn't quite see what happened, but I bet those facing Surfer were cringing like they thought he just broke his neck or something.
@masterblaster406 Dean has Passed I spoke at the service. he was Rocky Mountain Thunder before he went on to be The Corner. Dean was a great friend and Wrestler. he started me in Wrestling as Slamm'n Stew.
I JUST watched this match on ESPN Classic Canada and decided to look up info on this Rocky Mt. Thunder guy. Man, that Widow's Peak-ish move was scary, especially now that I have a chance to see it again! :S
I don't know who The Surfer was (he looks like a bigger Kid Kash) but he must be a pretty tough and durable guy to not have suffered any injury after that botched Widow's Peak. Obviously, Verne Gagne didn't bother training Greg Boyd and it shows with his botched moves and lack of protection for his opponent. I believe RMT wrestled one or two more matches on T.V. before disappearing for good.
Dean was one of the nicest people I have ever met. RIP my friend.

They forgot to tell Rocky Mountain that he is supposed to communicate the moves with his opponent.

He has had worse matches as Armoured Saint and Dean Justice. Don't know about him passing. Real name was Dean Del La Rossa lived in Orange county.

I wish the Sklar Brothers would have used this match for an episode of Cheap Seats. What a missed opportunity.

WOW this was bad. The Surfer was not Ray Odyssey from ICW and later ECW. Ray was a lot shorter.
apwrock 3 years ago
'the surfer' is Ray Odyssey, who was later in ECW.

Nah Sandman started working in the early 90s for Tri-State Wrestling Alliance under the name Mr. Sandman.

Oddly enough, the blown spot looked so sick that the AWA used the clip of it as a ten-second promo piece for Rocky Mountain Thunder thereafter.
