If you go to Southern Star Amusement's website and click on News, they are proposing to purchase the place from the City! The roller coasters and log flume are all salvageable. I really hope they decide to reopen it!

Before it was a dumb Sponge Bob ride, it was a pretty cool pirate themed ride which I loved as a little kid. Also, you might be right about people doing/selling drugs there, every time we drive by the park we say, "There's Crack Land!" Man the memories...

According to the NOLA City Council, there was no budget for security patrols at the park. Also the park will no be leveled. There is still talks about revamping it for another theme park.

@KramSacul Not sure. I read somewhere that an attempt was made to salvage some of the materials in the walls. Just a rumor, though, but we saw the same kind of thing in the dark ride and lots of the restaurants...just the wall studs, no walls.

Oh My Gosh I'm shock that stuff is still there how do you all get in to the old place? heck I recall going this ride before it became spongebob squarepants ride. heck I first started going to park when it was still jazzland.
