  • I never saw this show. What channel is it on?

  • Best game show ever!

  • Reading some of the history on the show, the contestants along with the panel and Gene were known to imbibe in some cold adult beverages at meal time on the days they shot the show. You can usuallly tell the shows that were taped AFTER dinner time. I think this was one of them!

  • feets?

    NO

    BOOBIES!

  • they are so bad lol

  • BOOBIES!!

  • Wow...my and my boyfriend just saw this episode earlier this morning!

  • lol haha

  • @luvulngtime2 so did i

  • One of the most hilarious game shows ever! The fact that the FCC was so strict with "off-color" remarks is what made these old game shows so funny: the innuendo and double entendras only worked so brilliantly BECAUSE of the censors! Now, I'm all for free speech, but you have to admit, this contestant's answer wouldn't cause anyone to bat an eye, let alone laugh so hysterically today.

MATCH GAME, Bob Eubank's NEWLYWED GAME, and Richard Dawson's FAMILY FUED: classic comedic humor!

  • Two thoughts:

Steve Allen was not sporting a good look at this time.

I wish I could block certain posters so that I would not have to wade through their juvenile flame war.

  • Tap 3 for the remix!

  • I think that 8 posts in a row is a record.

  • Notice the ashtray at 3:50. Times have indeed changed.

  • Fannie at 3:57 lol!

  • 3:45 is one the show's funniest moments

  • Darius595 u r a perv my friend told me to watch this and it's stupid

  • speaking of bazzooms fanny could you should us yours

  • Am I the only one who thinks Richard Dawson looks a lot like Robert Shaw?

  • @heyufool1 LOL, when Richard Dawson did Family Feud after this, he'd kiss every woman on each side on the lips. It's kinda funny as some women would blush or get uncomfortable, some husbands looked like they wanted to punch him, and meanwhile the the thought of him passing oral herpes around was kind of disturbing knowing what people know about STD's now :(

  • I still watch this on the game show network

  • i love watching richard smoking on the game u would put in jail nowadays no more freedom in the U S A

  • George Carlin sent me here

  • @TheLizardKing1967 Mission accomplished? LOL Do you know what you sound like? No nerves hit here, you are just boring me. If that 1967 means your birth year then you have some issues at 44 years old saying mission accomplished. I already knew you had issues when you wanted to bag a 67 year old woman but Jesus...LOL WOW. I take it you sit here all day and make an asshole out of yourself to hit people's nerves on purpose. That says you have NO JOB and live at home...

  • @TheLizardKing1967 First of all, go paaaaaaark ya caaaaaaaaaaaaar? That's a BOSTON accent asshole...LOL I don't live in Boston. Also, what does your shoes have to do with anything? Pathetic

  • Comment removed

  • @BDOUG23 Sounds like something your mom told you before you laid your one inch pipe in her. LMAO

  • @luvulngtime2 I did too. It seems creepy, now, yes!

  • I fell off my chair laughing

  • "Speaking of 'buzzums'... Fannie, would you show us yours?" XD

  • they're all hammered

  • i remember seeing this episode a few days ago, i even recorded it.

  • Heh, I saw this episode on GSN last week. :D

  • The best moment in Match Game's storied history!!

  • @steelersfan7238 Even better than Cuckoo, Friend and Ollie?

  • this is a very cheeky clip indeed

  • Why did the stars walk out like that time the star wheel landed on Richard?

  • @hallpriest9 to be funny

  • Thousandth person to like this! :)

  • They used to film two episodes of Match Game per shooting day, one before dinner and one after dinner. In the after dinner episodes half of the cast was hammered!!! It's safe to say this was an after dinner episode.

  • This was the funniest game show ever! Great cast and host!

  • Best game show ever. Is there anything on today as much fun as Match Game ? I don't think so.

  • God, I just LOVE that 'synth vamp' think music during the question!

  • Ûhm_ãñÿôÑé_wÅÑnÂ_chåt_wÌth_mè_Î_féEl_sò_lÕÑélY_tÒdâý♥

  • I don't want to get too heavy here or anything - I loved this clip, love seeing the great Gene Rayburn again - but in fact, Steve Allen, for all of his joking around here, reveals a little bit of his true character. He was a flat-out prude. He HATED Elvis, HATED rock-and-roll, HATED the cracking open of American society that occurred in the '60s. And, I confess it, I hated Steve Allen.

  • wow, definitely the 70s. digging the 'staches on steve allen and richard dawson.

  • tv and everyone else seemed so much relaxed then! we need to take a chill pill

  • @ 1:44 goodbye gene

  • 1:59 <3

  • I just wish people don't care for profanity like they didn't in the 70's

    More understandable response

THE 70S DIDN'T CARE ABOUT CUSS WORDS

  • MY dad told me everyone he knew was doing drugs, and having sex back in the day, why were they so weird about profanity?

  • @Gorillazfreak18 Which one? Now, it was known that they used to have lots of drinking during the tapings (Match Game shot 3-6 episodes in a day). This sounds like an afternoon taping.

  • @AEMoreira81 I wouldn't doubt if they were drinking during the tapings lol. I'm just saying the 1970's was all about sex, drugs, rock n roll, similar to the 60's.

  • I'm 13 and I love this show. I wish they would bring it back.

  • @cdgrnr me too

  • @MrSnapplesauce your a fart

  • Did you know Fannie Flagg wrote "Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafe." She wrote the screenplay based on that book which became the film Fried Green Tomatoes. The 1991 movie garnered her a nomination for an Academy Award. Great book, movie. Great lady

  • she had boobs gean

  • Valerie, which one do you want, A or B?

B - for boobs, of course!

  • Steve Allen failed in his answer...

  • @spaceplanepilot Pillows is another word for boobs

  • my mom said that when she was younger, this was the "grown-up" show that she couldn't watch. seems pretty harmless these days.

  • brett is DRUNK.

  • am 15 and i just started watching the reruns on GSN .. and i love this show! why wasn't i born back when tv was awesome?

  • @ilovefall08 omg i'm 18 and i watch this all the time i wish i was born back then too!

  • 1:25-1:32 lmaooo

  • GO FANNIE !

  • 4:48 - Charles saying to Richard Dawson, you will do anything for your own show

  • "The big bad wolf said, 'I just came from the house, where this old lady had the biggest BLANKS I have ever saw!'"

    :D

  • Biggest "balls"

  • Ha, only Richard sat. He liked boobs in the 1970s.

  • Classic! I would have said bosoms too.

  • BIGGEST TITSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

  • Brett is SO wasted!!!!

    Buzzums!

  • @waderulz96 There was question concerning football that Brett gave a dumb answer to because, as she had proudly said before with sports-related questions she knew absolutely nothing about sports. She then quickly shot back "My sport is DRINKING!" Can't say that on TV now. I do miss the 70's and hate the New Puritanism of the Republican era.

  • @waderulz96 You are absolutely right. When GSN did a tribute show to Match Game, one of the show's workers said they would tape five or six shows in a day. In the middle there was a "dinner break" and the shows after the break tended to get wilder and more silly.

  • so which answer was right?

  • @TabalugaDragon its Not About Which Answer was RIGHT the Answer could have Been Eyes she had the Biggest eyes i ever Saw refering to her Eyes on her Face or the Biggest Cheeks for the cheek bones on her Face the point is not to get the RIGHT answer but to Match the contestants Answer so its funny half of them had a Naughty Answer Like Boobs because its the 70s and its so Offensive back then now who would give a crap but its still funny Boobs!
  • They used to get away with murder on this show, that's what made it so great.

  • And this wasn't even "Match Game PM"!

  • lmfao match game is classic.

  • Used to watch this after school and loved it. A comedian (can't recall name) who used to occasionally appear on the show, was being interviewed once and claimed that after each taping, (5 shows/day), they would meet in the commissary and have drinks. He said, to the effect, "by the time Wednesday's show was on, we were bombed..." Today this would be scripted, but back then, the drinks took care of that. Love the ashtrays. Just like ma & pa's parties long ago. Everything today is so uptight.

  • @rever65 i believe it was Jimmie JJ Walker who briefed us on the taping schedule

  • Speaking of fannies, bosom buddy, would you show us yours?

  • "There's nothing wrong with Mother Nature, it's just not nice to fool with her!"

  • steve allen's voice reminds me of jon miller, the sf giants broadcaster

  • Brett was drunk!

  • 4:00 Sit down! Sit DOWN!!!

  • Priceless.............!

  • Well, what else was she supposed to say! LOL! CLASIC!

  • Gotta love how Gene makes innuendo an art, "Speaking of bosoms... Fannie would you show us yours?"

R.I.P. Gene Rayburn "The Master of the Innuendo"

  • I miss shows like this. Definitely another era.

  • anyone notice they have ashtrays

  • TV shows today do not even compare to those of yesteryear, such as Match Game or All in the Family for example. The sitcoms aren't even funny. The funniest shows on TV are in daytime Ellen and The View. If anyone disagrees about new sitcoms that are as funny feel free to comment so I can watch the show.

  • match game had a pimpin theme song

  • all time classic

  • This ep is airing now! I'm not surprised Richard didn't leave lol.

  • miss those days,,, these days are full of shit

  • Any contestant who ever saw the show knew what the regular panelists (Brett, Charles and Richard) answers would be. I always thought these were always freebies.

  • i would have said labia's

  • so what's the correct answer? I would have said "eyes"

  • This is what I love about Match Game! I may not have been around in the 70's, but I know a case of pushing the envolope when I see one, and Match Game was a clasic example! I love it for that!

  • Funniest video on YouTube IMHO!

  • yes, this was in early 1974.

  • Says Match Game '74, so this would make it 1974. Grew up watching this. Anyone remember Nipsy Russel?

  • this was about in 1978...(i was 12) gas was about 75 cents a gallon...jimmy carter era...(if you said a naughty word on tv big bleep sound went off over it!) the gong show was far more wild!...remember for the summertime months kids watched this show daily!...i saw this show for years age 12!

  • Which came first the american or the uk version?

  • 3:48 Classic mistake in clarification! I constantly get in trouble by that!

  • some one explain to me what was said to make her go crazy with laughter. I cannot hear it.

  • The host said: "Speaking of 'buzzums,' Fannie would you please show us yours." He meant her written answer, not her anatomy

  • OMG! She said BOOBS! How disgusting! LOL!

  • In the day when profanity wasn't standard, intelligence and wit reigned.

  • I was raised in that type of world... profanity wasn't even in our vocabulary. I really miss that world... maybe that's why Match Game was so popular, genuine people, intelligence, with wit and humor

  • i remember this episode, man i loved this show...

  • They should have Ozzy Osbourne, Dane Cook, Chris Rock, ,Paula Abdul, Carol Liefer, Letterman

Ricky Gervais, Whoopi Goldberg, Lewis Black, Matthew Perry, Lisa Kudrow, Seinfeld

  • i agree

  • They had great game shows back then, I sue to watch this with my grandparents.

  • The best one EVER!!

  • Richard Dawson was the best part of this video, as always! "I do hope that you and the producers and directors will remember that I was the only one that didn't walk out..."

    "Also, I couldn't walk out...'cause I wrote bosoms!"

  • BRING MATCH GAME BACK!!

  • Who could be on the panel now though?

  • There r so many wonderful actors that are available, like Robert Culp, Ernie Borgnine and Betty White who'd be great guests.

  • rip taylor

    Clint Eastwood

    Robin Williams

    Chris Rock

    Jim Carrey

    and someone else

  • this is why match game will remain my favorite game show of all time!!

  • "there's nothing wrong with mother nature!" that's the bestest bit!

  • "It's not nice to fool with her!"

  • what a great show...i love how Gene used to hammer the contestants when they responded to questions with bad answers aha

not something you ever see on game shows nowadays....everybody is too damn p/c

  • They should bring this game back!!! Chuck Woolery should host it and Chelsea handler should be a regular. lol.

  • >Implying Chuck Woolery doesn't suck

  • lol you just can't get hilarious tv like this now a days :(

  • @roflret Because ppl see everything and say anything, so while this was funny and shocking back in '74, not now. Sadly.

  • @roflret They still have shows like this in the UK. Look up via Youtube "Would I Lie To You?" series 1-4 (their version of "To Tell the Truth"). "Never Mind the Buzzcocks" (a pop music panel show series 1-24), and "Big Fat Quiz Show of the Year."

  • Gene was a Bad Boy!!!

  • she had boobs gean

  • I remember this show when I was little, it's great! Charles Nelson Reilly is so awesome! Wish there were shows and celebrities like these nowadays.

  • i am one who was born in 1992, but enjoy the classics. this is the funniest blooper ever!!

  • A blooper is a mistake. This is not a mistake.

  • 1973-1977 were the best years

  • Dig Gene's foofy hair!

  • Talkin' bout the CNR...

  • I plain love Match Game.

The best game show of the world!!

And I love so much Brett... She's very funny!!

  • im 17 years old and i think that also. game shows back then were so much better/funnier than they are now.

  • I am 24 years old and I think this is the all time best game show of all time! I'll never get tired of this show.

  • Omg 70's stylin!

  • What happened to genes really long microphone

  • It didn't come into play until around the end of 1974.

  • u never get game shows like this anymore.

  • "Speaking of bosoms, Fannie would you show us yours?"

    LOL

  • @cotc17 That was funny!

  • They would tape a week's worth of shows in one day. There was a bar backstage. So hat's why sometimes, during Wednesday's show,Brett was laying all over Charles

  • That's awesome! lol Good lord, (specifically THIS) Match Game was the best ever

  • "feets!"

  • "feets" lol

  • I am 44 now and I have told this story over and over how TV has changed so much. I remember when she said the bad dirty word "Boobs" I freaked out and called my Mom at work and said..."Mom you'll never believe what they said on TV! Then I spelled it out and she asked me what kind of show I was watching. Wow how things have changed!

  • does anyone else think that match game would be popular today if it was brought back? I think it could still do very well, as long as you had ridiculous characters like charles, richard and a good host and people would love this show because everyone loves the sexual innuendo questions. But then again i think part of why it was so fun was because during those times it was considered much more racy. Now a days people say anything. And finding a cast as good as the original had would be impossible

  • I always thought it would do good today too.. but any t.v. executive would simply ruin any chance by using their crappy ideas for what they think it should be today. Or the celebs they would use would be those grade D crap reality stars that no-one cares for. Ya just would not be able to duplicate it.

They should just re-digitize them and air the originals.
