Consumers have a choice..they can choose to either buy a product or don't. But, game dev companies don't have such a luxury. They have to put out and hope you buy their product. Also maybe we wouldn't buy as many used games if they lowered the price of the new games to begin with. Think about it, 60 bucks a pop! A regular DVD or Blu-Ray is around 20 to 30 dollars and video games are 2 to 3 times that amount!

EBGames, GameCrazy, Funcoland, EBX were all bought out by GameStop. Since there was a lack of competition GameStop can charge $55 for a used copy of a game.

@FusedGamers Well of course they and other retailers need that money to offset the cost of new games. Depending on the retailer they either get 20% - 5% profit per new game sold. So lets say if Gamestop sell a $60 game they will only get around 15$-10$ of the profit. Also remember that Gamstop is not only used game retailer out there like Ebay, Amazon, Best Buy, Play N Trade, and independent retailers like Digital Press and L1 Games who depend on used sales in order to survive.
