My brother and I discovered this a long time ago. Oh the fun we had - trying to see how many arrows we could get into Foster's head and see it flop about everywhere. Amazing game.

If you're in the carrington institute, go and get ahold of the hover crate at the hanger. Bring it back to the firing range and put it in the doorway, then pick a gun and start. I'd recommend a crossbow. Take the crossbow, and because the door is now forced open by the box, you can shoot the two technicians (foster and the other fellow) full of arrows/bomb them/cover them in mines or whatever. Another interesting point is that you can shoot Carrington in the head with a far sight from there.

You should buy a new controller online but... Make sure you do get the right colour. I wanted a yellow one, the picture showed yellow, but when it came through the post the back half was red, and it looked so weird... Plus I already have a red one. I got used to the controller, though.
