In the comic books, there is an issue where Magneto pulls the adamantium right out of Wolverine's bones, which nearly kills Logan.

That enraged Professor X so much that he uses his full mind power on Magneto to put him into a coma with no brain function.

Wolverine only had bone claws for a long time after that. Finally he was able to get his Adamantium back later on.

There were some real badass comic issues lol.
