To this day I cannot comprehend how someone can genuinely dislike trance. I will ask someone why they feel that way and the answer is usually one of two things:

1. "It all sounds the same" - This is definitely the one I hear the most. It is often quickly accompanied by series of over-exaggerated and extremely annoying "dun dun" or "tssst tssst" sounds, as they attempt to mock the bass and/or hi hats. This usually leaves them in a state of utter self-amusement and wonder...

I always find "it all sounds the same" amusing because, to me, trance couldn't be further away from sounding the same. On the contrary, I find trance to be the antagonist of uniformity. To me, trance is immensely complex, with supernatural elements of sound that create atmospheric emotion no other genre could dream of matching.

2. "It's too long" - To me, this is a reflection of the "now" generation we are in, where everything is expected to produce immediate results. In our case, the satisfaction of hearing a song. If only they would take the time to sit down and listen to a real, genuine piece of trance as opposed to the stereotypical "cheese" they are likely to have heard. Unfortunately, ignorance is not bliss in this case.
