  • wonderful!

  • Such a strong vioce, incredibly powerful to listen to

  • Hauntingly beautiful. Freya's voice seems to call the Runes right into you as you listen.

  • ...so true ! ! !

  • EXCELLENT!

    *****

  • ahhhhhh.............love it.............

  • I don't know if my comment went through before or not so I'm sorry if this is a double. I'll keep it shorter than the first I wrote. Do you have any advice on where to begin when you are starting to study the runes? I have been studying Taking up the runes by diana paxson, browsing the web (where I found beautiful you!). This is all very overwhelming and I'm having a baby soon (in Feb) I want to be able to teach her readily when the time comes. *laughs* I guess its just as long as the first try!

  • I'm just learning, and have discovered like many before me I'm sure, that this can be overwhelming with no one around to show you. I've started thus far by reading and working with Taking up the Runes by diana paxson, browsing the internet, and working on a power point for my own studies..(I'm having my first child in feb so I'm trying to make it simple so she can learn easily while she is young). Do you have any advice for where beginners should look?

  • Does it go from A-Z? Or is it completely from the alphabet we know?

  • The Elder Futhark that we present in this video is not A-Z as you will find out when you watch the video. But there are several Rune Sets. From the Elder Futhark comes the Ancient Nordic Rune Set. During the 10th century punctuations were added to these Runes and in Scandinavia this set has been used as alphabet (A-Z) up into the 19th century before they were substituted by the latin alphabet - remarkable. But the runes are more than an alphabet - much more... Vana

  • The sounds of the runes send a feeling trough my body that I can't explain... Hail Odin...

  • great vid! i've just been drawing my own pictures for the runes. n_n

  • please when you've finished it upload it! wassail

  • I like it, I don't understand or believe in it and don't know how I ended up on this page but the vocals are haunting and mystical.

  • ***** :)))))))))

  • Beautiful video. It made my body shiver and my left ear kept vibrating.

    Favourite pictures -

Jera - I liked the way that the two women were almost like a picture of the rune. Particularly with the forming of a circle (year).

Mannaz - Again, I felt this was a really powerful image. The strengths of two men together, the power of friendship - this picture portrayed it perfectly.

Dagaz - I must mention this, simply because of the day-night halves.

  • Regarding Jera, I think one is a man, and one a woman... :)

  • This is great. I'm studying runes right now but I've never heard them spoken or chanted like this. Can I ask - is this how the actual letters sound out?

  • Ive been studying runes for a long time... I think they are very interesting.. i offen draw them on my skin when i need them, for luck and stuff like that. So its nice when people post these vids. THANKS FREYA

  • Excellent! Thanks for posting them here, Freya!

  • This video is delicious.

  • wonderful, thank you

  • Beautiful! I really liked it. I first heard you chanting on an old Current 93 album. I have a question though: how does this kind of meditation work? Do you combine the chanting with visualizations? I recently learnt the Elder Futhark by heart and am very much interested in its possibilities.

  • excellent

  • excellent presentation

    many thanks.............

  • Magnificent.

  • i found myself chanting to it. very moving, great meditation!

  • Chanting the runes can be very power-full indeed, and this recording was very hauntingly so! :)

Curious tho: Why is Reid and Sol shown wrong in this vid?

To my knowledge; Reids bistaves never connect to the primary one and Sol is, as usual, shown slightly tilted.

Also I am curious as to where the pictures are from? WHo made them, pls?

  • The pictures have been made by Mchael De Witt for my German translated book Die Bladern von Yggdrasil.

    Avalialbe from Ananeal Vererlag.

    Freya

  • Apart from the usual rune-errors it was quite interesting :) thank you!

  • Errors???

    Like what.

These pictures are Art not Academic Runology!

    Freya
