THE ASSASSIN SAVED MORE LIVES THAN ALL GODS COMBINE INCLUDING JESUS INCLUDING YOUR OWN LIFE! JFK A DOUBLE O O SPIDER HELL BENT ON THE EXTICTION OF MANKIND (USE IR METER TO CONFIRM SKIN). @DocMEDICK Mohogany is a very heavy wood. One book I read says the coffin was 1000 lbs and the soldiers practiced carrying a coffin with 1000 lbs of sandbags inside and even had a man sit on the coffin too while they carried it.
@gaserjd being 47 years later it is still so sad of what happened to John, still not fair. So what church was his funeral at? was it St Matthews? like for Ronald...
@bikefixer No this was live at the time I recall this fabulous music that would not hold a candle to the military bands. Music was taught in America's schools.

Say, wasn't that the voice of Roger Mudd, then of the Columbia Broadcasting System (CBS), doing the narration during the video?

What precession of our military bands during this time. Well executed and disciplined. No flaws or uniforms out of place. Loved that era.

The casket weighed 1100 pounds, pall bearers were shocked by the weight yet a great job by Honor Guard Platoon

What a sad time that was for America and the world.
JFK was a good man who wanted what was best for the people.
We need leaders like that today.

I will recall the music played by the best bands of our time. Such an unbearable grief for an innocent nation.

The music in the rotunda scene was Charles Ive's, "The Unanswered Question".

What was the music that CBS had when people were walking in the rotunda when Kennedy's casket was on display?

That was the United States Coast Guard Band, from the US Coast Guard Academy in New London, Connecticut, playing the music in this video.

This looks abridged. Was it taken from CBS' 25th anniversary special? Still, it's well done.
"Hail to the Chief" never sounded so mournful. The second piece by the band was "O God of Loveliness," the signature song of the event.
