Oo, this has been sorta close to one of my actual 'resolutions'. Never tried Salmon steak, Mackerel, Prawn Cocktail.. etc and yeah, just trying to get more seafood in my diet.

a great hint in the vegetarian-food-thing is not to eat meat-re-placers from the package, the taste can be dull.

be sure to try EVERY vegetable, I'm a vegetarian for 9 years and still find a lot of new food i didn't know.

Tell you what to do with those capers. Take a few hard-boiled eggs, cut them in half. Take the yolk out, crush it in a bowl, add olive oil, vinegar, salt, pepper and capers, maybe garlic. Put a reasonable chunk back into the egg white half. Then eat.

Are mushy peas just literally peas mushed up and put in a can? Just curious if any other ingredients went into them. Capers are good on chicken piccata (sp?) but like you say, you're a vegetarian so that would not work for you! :)

You can't eat capers right from the jar. That is really disgusting. You have to combine theme correctly. For example my mother does boiled eggs in a mostard sauce where she puts capers in and we have mashed potatoes with it. That is nice, but you never eat to many of them and not all alone!

I was babysitting some youngsters after school and when their mum returned she asked if I wanted to stay for supper and I never say no to FREE food so I did. we had pasta with a vegetable sauce and CAPERS. It was all nice apart from the capers which were really really salty and mank tasting, but the kids loved them and ate loads and so to demonstate my maturity I felt I had to eat all of them. It was one of the grossest things I've ever done!

@octaquan "Vegetarian" has a wide number of meanings. Usually someone who eats fish is a "Pescetarian". I've been a vegetarian my entire life. I've never eaten fish or shellfish, but I used to eat eggs when they were cooked into things (I've since stopped). I do eat cheese and butter, but only cheese which does not contain animal rennet. I don't drink milk, but only because of the taste. I will eat things cooked with milk. And seaweed is actually a number of different plants, not animals.
