  • Unfortunately the intricate and small parts in these 'Gov'-Lock' type rear ends, while making them a very positive locking unit when needed, can lead to the headaches you have had to deal with. The 3/4 - ton units seem to hold up better. The 1/2 ton unit in a Sub really has it's work cut out when they lock and have to take up the weight of your truck.

  • @spikedpunk yep. eventually(if I keep the truck) I'll just swap in another rear end or rebuild this one. Was surprised to find out the cover still had the factory paper gasket.

  • That sucks, did you get her back together? (I did a thumbs up, but the situation is diffently not a thumbs up)

  • @mrRhwalden Yeah. I got it back together, but the backlash needs to be adjusted

  • @mrRhwalden Thankyou for the thumbs up

  • did you get any warning before this happend?

  • @MrBlueroads Nope. It made absolutely no noise.

  • @giberish9 i think mines abot to go.

  • @MrBlueroads Whats it doing?

  • @giberish9 a jerking motion. now im thinking it's the fuel pump or filter I hope.

  • Did you get it fixed yet?

  • @PissOnJapScrap Sort of. I got it back together and driving, but now it sounds like the pinion bearing is bad.

  • Ouch

  • That really sucks that that happen. You need to put a spool in it now.

  • @PissOnJapScrap Yep. And my air compressor is down, so I'm stuck using hand tools.

  • @giberish9 That sucks I feel bad for you.

  • @PissOnJapScrap I'll be ok. Fortunately I know a guy that collects scrap so only a matter of time before he stumbles across a compressor.
