My rearend blew up

Unfortunately the intricate and small parts in these 'Gov'-Lock' type rear ends, while making them a very positive locking unit when needed, can lead to the headaches you have had to deal with. The 3/4 - ton units seem to hold up better. The 1/2 ton unit in a Sub really has it's work cut out when they lock and have to take up the weight of your truck.

@spikedpunk yep. eventually(if I keep the truck) I'll just swap in another rear end or rebuild this one. Was surprised to find out the cover still had the factory paper gasket.

@PissOnJapScrap Sort of. I got it back together and driving, but now it sounds like the pinion bearing is bad.

That really sucks that that happen. You need to put a spool in it now.

@PissOnJapScrap Yep. And my air compressor is down, so I'm stuck using hand tools.
