  • one of the best kooks lesson I've seen for beginners and intermediate players thanks dude!

  • No, the capo is right.

  • @MlleDookie ur wrong, there is no capo when Luke plays it...mostly bar chords with a few open

  • Thanks bro... im learning now.. thanks

  • no capo

  • The Kooks tune down their guitar one semitone and then play a Bm shape. Which is the same chord as playing an Am with your Capo on the 1st fret. Therefore, the chords are correct if not played in the same way as the original.

He is also trying to teach beginners and not experts so using ones brain would be useful before posting.

  • you remind me of jack black!

you should dye your hair and grow a soulpatch

  • thats not how you play it !!!

  • u look like jack black

  • err... what?

  • nice lesson

  • Dont understand why ur using a capo on 1st fret? imo if u wanna learn a song u wanna learn it how Luke is playing it and he doesnt use a capo, its B G E for the verse...

  • Not really u jus want to be able to play it and since this is for beginners the chords are easier wen a kapo is used

  • that helped a lot man,

  • hey, thanks for the excellent the vid,

just one thing though, if you watch luke pritchard from the kooks play this song, he doesnt use a cappo, he just uses a Bm for the first chord....

    hope this helps

  • Great Video Buddy!

    Well taught!

  • ive been playin for a year and a bit and i just tought myself, obviously the downside to that is you learn chords without the cool fxs. your vids are making the world a better place

    u play it well xx

  • That Helps me loads

    Thanks

    CX

  • thanks excelente!!!!

  • Mu weno...

  • the capo makes it so you dont need the F Barre chord

  • no, it just moves up the pitch. you still need the barre.

  • yah aha i relaized i was a dumbass as soon as I said it

  • pass me the bottle, mr. jones.

  • Another example is people covering Naive. The original song has a complex chord progression with pull offs and the like. Its all good using open chords found on ultimate-guitar but i think to get that awesome sounds the actual chords need to be learnt. Hugh is an excellent guitarist and the music writed for Naive shows that. :-)

How about learning the intro for See The Sun??? Thats fun to play and again has 4 simple chords for the intro.

    :-)

  • i like imagining everyone infront of their computers playing guitar... Just like me :)

  • the rythum is amazing but carlturbo is definatly right about the chord progressions - oh well...

    still a sweet video tho

  • Thank you for the lessons!

I noticed a video of the Kooks playing Ooh La in the streets of France and they didn't use a capo.

Do you know what chords they used?

  • The proper way to play Ooh La is without a capo. To play it with a capo is easier but does nt sound half as good.

So the chords YOU want are

    Bm, G, Em, A.

You should be able to work out the song with that. Any more questions let me know. Sorry i cant concentrate while listening to this video. All im hearing is DOWN, UP, DOWN, DOWN, UP!!

Drop it down a gear fella.

  • Thanks man :)

but what order are the chords played?

  • Afternoon fella.

The progression is the same as in this video just with the proper chords. Bm, G, Em. Pre chorus and chorus you play an A aswell.

Listen to the song and you ll hear where the chords are played. There are only 4 at the end of the day. :-) Thats the best way to learn the song. Dont worry about these down, ups etc. No offence to this fella here but you dont wanna confuse things too much. Just listen to the song over and over again and you will get it sorted.

    :-)

  • Thank youuu! <3 im a beginner taking no lessons and find these lessons so so useful!

  • I have the exact same capo.

    haha.

  • Wow, nice - was so easy to play after seeing it being broken down :)

You should do some more Paramore tutorials, you're awesome!

  • Omg you rock :D

i love you dude...it was the first song i could play on the guitar...your are great and your lesson also..(sorry for my bad english) =)

  • great lesson, you rock :)

  • awesome dude! i just learned an incredible song thanks to you :P!

  • Great lesson, love your vids man

  • You're going to make guitar lessons? oh my god! you're a starter...

  • intermediate song? lol u try and write it. and your playing it wrong. brilliant help mate, guitar lessons for you my boy.....

  • Comment removed

  • thank you very much!!!!

  • ooh, usefull :) thanks alot!!

  • yeah you dont need to use a capo for this one lol (:

    oh well

  • theres no capo in this song. i've seen luke play it live and know it myself. it starts bm, g, em the chorus is g, bm, a, em, g/f

the chords i listed are a bit different and have variations in the song but it's way better then what's in this video.

  • i love yamaha guitars :p

  • wow man!

    that helped a lot

keep making videos like this :)

  • Jeez I find that rhythm really hard.

    Thanks, great vid!

  • sorry, i've selected the wrong rating, my mistake

  • Nice video dude. It's a little late in the evening to start playing, I'll start playing your lesson tomorrow --> keep up posting lessons, they are an inspiration. greetz from Belgium

  • Thanks Man ! This video really teached me many things. You are a good Guitar Teacher..can you do the same thing with See The Sun from The kooks?

  • These chords sound right to me, I don't know what Webanix is getting on about.

Thanks for posting this. It's about time I started using REAL chords and playing songs I like, this was my first step :D

  • which guitar are you using?

  • nice work dude : )

THANKS, and loving your guitaring lol

    keep singing ;p

  • great, thanks, saludos de argentina

  • forget that , nice vid :D

  • can be done without capo tbh , just change dont play the dminor play it as a bar chord but all fingers down

  • the strumming pattern is down up down and then you mute the strings really quickly takes a while to pick up just try it out and listen to the song as much as possible.

  • can u post the strumming pattern for the chorus???

  • great lesson man, i wasnt able to get the rhythm until i found this vid...thanks

  • u're awesome doing tutorials!!...please keep doing it!

  • ur so handsome i wish u were my guitar teacher

  • hey dude i love you thanks for the help

do you reckon you can doo whistle for the choir by the fratellies? please=]

  • man I consider myself still a beginner, but I just gotta go & buy me a capo tomorrow and I can play one of my favourite songs :) thank you so much, and I bet my friends are gonna thank you too :P (I hope my singing won't be too bad @ the next bbq-party ;) )

greetings and keep up that gr8 work

  • Well even though it's not the same as the original, that version's much easier! (for beginners)

Thank you very much, I was trying loads of different rhythms but they sounded like shit... great teacher =D

  • Great tutor for this song, i found it easier playing this song in a higher key....kinda gets rid of the need of the kapo. Still, your struming helped me loads dude, thanks !!!

  • I think it sounds right.

And I really like the way you explain it :)

  • Thank you very much, excellent lesson, you are cool :)

  • its not the way everyone else does it but it still sounds descent!!! soo shussshhh

  • sorry mister teacher, this is not the way The Kooks play it!

  • thankyou for this lesson, your detail in strumming pattern and playing has helped me learn this in under an hour.

    5 stars :)

  • its not the way luke plays this song, but its still a good way to play it and your a great teacher , i learned quite quickly ;)

  • Oohlala...Sorry but absolutely everything on this video is totally wrong... And this is not a question of capo or not capo : it's just that the chords are wrong, and the rythmic too.Whatever, the chords are wrong. Here are the right chords for the verse guys (I'm not using capo):

    E--0--2--0--0--2--0--0

    B--3--0--0--3--0--0--3

    G--4--0--0--4--0--0--4

    D--4--0--2--4--0--2--4

    A--2--1--2--2--1--2--2

    E-----2--0-----2--0---

(this is just chords without rythm, but "up/downs" on the video are totally wrong

  • sorry buddy but you are wrong. those are definitely not the chords. I've been playing this song for a long time and i've seen it played live. the video is correct

  • I've seen this song played live 3 times, but that is not the question. I know what i'm saying : the chords used in the video are wrong. Ok, it sounds not too too bad like that but you just have to listen to the song carefully to notice that the first chord - for example - is wrong. mkerrissey just played a minor chord. A minor chord has three notes : Am = A + C + E. But in the song (live or album version), you can hear another note : D. So it is not Am, it is Amadd9. Just one note more...

  • Notice that the base note of the chords has no importance in what i just said. I mean that there is a "add 9" color in the chord. For the base note, it depends of the version played (live or studio), but you don't need any capo in theses both versions. In live version it is a Bm add9 and in studio version it is a Cm add9.

That's for the first chord. The other chords of the verse are right in the video.

(I will stop here and not mention the wrong rythm used on the video !)

  • THANK YOU HAHA I'm fench,so first, I try to understand lol but the UPS and DOWNS helped me a lot lol but after that's hard because my hand is too small!!

I laughed a lot, thank you again, I must work now, to play it well...

    Bye bye =D

  • every video I watch of the kooks playing this song acoustic he doesn't use a capo. How can I play it like that??

  • dude, just play Bm, G# and Em for the versus and then the chorus is G#, Bm, A, Em thats the shit!

  • your videos are great

  • its good. but if you play

Bm, G, Em is it easier :)

  • Yeah thats right! ..

this vid is great if you just start playing

guitar! .. but Bm, G, Em are the real chords

for Ooh-la. sounds just like The kooks.

this sounds more .. amateur .. sorry for that but don't meen it bad.

Thanks for the vid man .. keep on playing!

  • yes of course dude :) do now Mr. Maker

  • are those chords with or without the capo?

  • which? if you want to the play the orginal, den play

Bm, G, Em its easier and sounds better ;)

  • and wat do you use instead of the G mkerrisey used?

  • you do it without an capp first step. then you play the song in Bm, G, and Em nothing else just a normal G on the guitar

  • o rite, thanks :)

  • you use "A"..

  • thanks....it sounded wrong without something there :D

  • I play it without the capo .. but that depends on your voice I think.. :)

    have fun ..

  • cool thanks :D

  • i love singin this lol thanx alot

  • thanks so much, this really helped :)

  • yea they dont use a capo.

    >:P

    THANK YOU!

    lmfao

    It sounded like you said

    "Please comment and RAPE"

  • VA A LAVORARE

  • Haha upchuck (:

    Really helpful thanks

  • awesome job good lesson.

what do the kooks use in place of D minor?

  • nice job i have leart this song very easily now thanks

  • stop saying what not

  • i agree what not

  • Haha, upchuck.

  • Really good - I learnt this by watching once!
