I used to play with Phil at the Pink Elephant in Brooklyn many years ago..He always was a hard swingin' cat...I'm glad to see he is still around..So few of us are...
This old toad really played this song but I know he lied about who the composer was because he also took some lyrical solos from several of Charlie Parker's songs but any its get work!!! i Liked it
Oh Phil Woods always had it! I first heard him on an album titled "Rich vs. Roach," cut on the Mercury label (circa 1959). One could hear the sharp, quick wit unique to the alto sax blended with how Woods himself complemented the alto sax's very nature -- quick and fleeting, saucy, sassy: the unique personality of the Alto' came through. Stanley Turrentine also featured on that album. Wow.
Phil's sound was 'so' Jazz , and from thereon I knew I would keep my ears peeled to one Phil Woods.
Phil is the best alto player you will ever hear in your life.Get over the Bird hang up and open your ears to cats that can make the alto tell a story.Phil is my hero and has taught me so much about how the alto sax is to be played the right way.I so love him and his Jill and they are my dear friends and will be always. My favorite saxophonist is Phil Woods. I believe he is the best out there.

At 3:03, shortly after quoting "Groovin High," he quotes "Santa Claus is Coming to Town." This video, by the way, was shot in Tel Aviv, Israel.

Phil is the best alto player on the face of the earth. Although Robert is real close. He should be, he's probably the best student Phil ever had.
