hold down the power botton let it turn off the hold until u hear 2 quick beeps

Just do the fan test(hold the eject button switch the button in the back to off and then switch it back without taking ur finger off the eject button) then take a blowdryer to the back on high for 10 to 20 minutes- 6 inches awa from the back moving back and forth. take a regular fan and put it on the middle power (usually on 2 if ur fan has 3 buttons) and leave it running from 20 inches away from the back for 7 or 10 minutes. thats how you take out the dsk and fix the Yellow Light of Death.

It's not the virus, your PS3 has overheated and blown your fan. It happened to mine last year but I had insurance and I got another one.

The best thing was they give me the full money back that I paid for the console which was £515. when I went to buy another, PS3's were £249 and I bought a load of extras lol.

oh yeah there's supposed to be a failsafe to get ur disc out--flip off the back switch, hold the eject button, then turn the switch back on, but it didn't work with mine. i took the whole thing apart, and since i lacked the right screwdriver, ended up carefully tearing up the disc container to get it out.

hey buddy, first of all, if this is cod 6 that you lost ur ps3 to, ur not alone. the graphics and what not make the system really hot and cause hardware failure. if you want to have it work for about another 3 months, you can buy some thermal compound and a heat gun and take ur ps3 apart and apply thermal compound to the cpu and gpu, but it's not a permanent solution.

OK PEOPLE ... its called the Yellow Light Of Death (YLOD) and it can be fixed by watching manuals on youtube ... if your warrenty is still on then i HIGHLY suggest phoning Sony and Asking them to Repair it or send a new 1 but if the warrenty's OVER then watch some vids on youtube and ull soon be able to use it again !! actually i just took about a ps3 myself since the warranty is out so u gotta take it apart to get to the disc holder, Note i had to do this with my wii when i dropped it to get my zelda out, u just take it apart and the screws are under the ps3 sign so u gotta take the bottom screw out and there ya go have fun. thats all i can say.

EASIER SOLUTION if its a 40GB and has the FAN TEST option ... *ran by Holding Eject Turning it off at the back switch and turning it back on ... Therefore activatng you PS3 to do a fan test to get rid of all the dust and whilst its going LOUDLY press the Eject thing and BOOM YOU HAVE YOU GAME BACK .. thts what i did anywayz ._.
