Agreed with aryan1171. The garbage here in the states is unbearable to watch. You would have to have a extremely low mentality to consider it good in any shape or form. Without a doubt, Japan has the best programming in the world, unlike american television, Japanese programs are intellectually stimulating. There's no artificial reality/drama in Japan. Case in short: western entertainment makes us americans look stupid to the rest of the world. I just had to be born here... *sigh*

And Iv'e been through the anime, mangakas and novels. And its without question my favorite story to come out of Japan. Just because you may not find it great, doesn't mean others don't. For me, Haruhi and other Japanese programs are a hell of a lot more entertaining then anything I have seen here in the states.

@Taedrin Yea it's true, I play drums and know about guitars and basses the fingering is completely spot on. K-On! songs do the same in their animation. They put care and detail in it. Also for Angel Beats songs in that anime the creators performed it live, filmed it and animated over it putting in the fictional characters, so that everything would be correct.

In the book Haruhi sings 4 songs, during the first three the crowd is silent but when Haruhi says that her and Nagato are fill ins the crowd gets into it, then they sing the 4th.

I prefer it the anime way better.

I wish more and more people watched this anime since its the most interesting and enjoyable anime I've watched so far. And all I'm saying when referring to the light novels is that you understand Kyon's point of view and why all the little things that happen have a reason for it. Example: in the movie Haruhi says she swore never to drink alcohol again, you don't know why until you read the light novels
