@AGAG789 the guitarist could be a member of the Muppets..He can barely see through his haircurtain.. And the bassist looks like as if he ate something terrible..The musical theme is childish.. and so.. boring! That's all I'm saying.. writing..
@Pan3405 Muppets! of course! but who in their sane reason hasn't fantasized even once to become elmo's cookiemonster? Shit food is what makes you fly musically if you dont have coke at hand, diahrrea is the best of inspirations... Childish you say!? Haven't you ever headbanged to some extreme black metal band hard enough while taking a shit? Then you'll know the meaning of childish mister... by now why don't you listen to Art Metal? :)
@Pan3405 Why don't you watch porn? it seems to be suitable for ya. May I recommend African honeybeeporn? sometimes they use chocolate and molten marshmallows to daub their dicks with.. even live bees! yumyum
@Pan3405 Wow... really short attention span. You should check autism forums... maybe you got hidden musical talent? who knows? maybe deep within you're god's last piano midget... (no offense to Michel Petrucciani)
@Pan3405 Wow... you don't like honeyporn, you know petrucciani and you still can't grasp the simple genie of these men? I can tell you're a bit fucked up... however can you please tell me once and for all if you're spongebob??? or is it squidward? curiosity is killing me :(
@metalofdamasses It hasn't. It's a Warwick Jonas Hellborg signature bass. If you are interested in detailed inforrmation you can find it on the Warwick homepage. But be aware this thing is as damned expensive as it sounds ;-)
Oh yeah, Mattias Eklundh is pretty unique!I also like his t-shirt in this one haha. And how "master Hellborg" sits back and enjoys the other boys going crazy...
IA has some evolved techniques on guitar and doesnt use any effects. hes kinda like steve vai on steroids. im not gonna say he was as good as shawn though.
read some comment here about IA make me laught...he has a PERFECT technic AND musicality, he is one of the greatests...he just improvise in a different way, that's all...and also, he is as good as shawn, in his own style of course..
1 it doesn't exist such a thing as "perfect technic"
2-by far he is not one of the greatest (if you don't know who are the greatest here are some names) John mclaughlin,Pat metheny,Al Di Meola,Frank Gambale,Allan Holdsworth,George Benson
3-i don't know why even i bother writing to you when you think he is good as Shawn Lane
I have developed enough to hear who improvises and who is playing licks. Most people are like you they have pretty low standart and when they see someone that can play a little bit and they think he is very good. Please stay a music fan and make comments about things you can do.
you can tell the guitarist is new to improvising, but going from metal to jazz improv isn't easy. im sure he'll develop a lot playing with hellborg though. he has some interesting ideas.
Jonas Hellborg is the king. An absolute genius. I've even warmed to Mattias despite him hamming his way through this one. It's true, I'm sure Jonas will never again find another musician who had the sense of melody and refinement of Shawn Lane. However, he continues to make breath taking, beautiful music. Jonas is without a doubt one of the musisians who has changed my life.
eklundh is good enough i think, but nowhere near shawn of course, the fingerslidetechnique that shawn used on the latter recordings is almost impossible to do on a guitar with frets but he did it. his arthrisis made the stretches he used in the early nineties impossible during his later period unfortunately though,
Jonas Hellborg makes the best collaerations ever. I mean seriously, Mattias is one of the abstract metal shredders like Ron Thal, Buckethead, and Guthrie Govan, you'd think that someone like Jonas who has played with jazz legends like John McLaughlin and Shawn Lane might overlook that crowd of guitar players, but Jonas has an eye for talent and he keeps belting out unbeleivable tunes. Can't wait to buy "Art Metal"
the head of this song is a song by shakti. Its off a natural elements album. Its kinda understandable, hellborg used to play for mclaughlin 's mahavishnu orchestra
this is too much,my god , jonas is god, and matias adapted really good to fusion.

reading your comment make me understand (one more time) why some musicians are great...
reanimator9 2 years ago
fusion and jazz is not for everybody ok?
a fluid improvisation with some thought in it is harder that you think!
very few people alive today can do it...Holdsworth,Benson,Mclaughlin and few others
the rest are just playing licks together.
petar870602 2 years ago
I think you describe your own frustrations about improvisation, and you haven't any idea about what i think...
reanimator9 2 years ago
I read your comments and i know what you think.

it would better to open your ears lloooool
If what you have developped make you think that you can decide who REALLY improvise , then you have more developped arrogance than other thing.
You have to grow up
reanimator9 2 years ago
Search on youtube for Allan Holdsworth see what improvising is AND SHUT THE FUCK UP.STOP TALKING ABOUT THINGS YOU CAN'T DO AND DO NOT KNOW!
petar870602 2 years ago
I know Holdsworth. I know what is improvisation, and I talk about what I want.
you should learn to respect other point of view...

You completely misunderstood playing the guitar. Its about art and creating something not about who pulls the fastest shredding riffs out of his ass.

Solo part from "Razor flowers" (Freak kitchen) at 5:27
Solo part from "Seven days in june" (Freak kitchen) at 6:44
ps. it sucks that the video does'nt contain the drumsolo

is it because he almost seems hesitant when he's improvising? almost thinking too much?
Alejandro4891 2 years ago
yeah, if you watch you can see how he pauses to think about what to play next, but when improvising you just kind of have to let it flow out.

Hellborg should have went in a completely different direction after the passing of Shawn Lane, because honestly Eklundh can't cut it.
Lane, was not only technically brilliant, but he was a very lyrical player as well, which is something that not many players of his caliber are.
Rest in peace, Shawn Lane, there will NEVER be another you.

This comment has received too many negative votes show
I've met Jonas Hellborg and I can honestly say he is one of the most arrogant and ignorant musicians I have ever come across.
He is obsessed with the Indian style his instrument is so badly suited to, and has no regard for the opinions of others.
Mattias Ia Eklundh on the other hand is a brilliant guy, great teacher and very talented composer, and manages not to be a dick about it!
