this one is magnificent !!!! so beautiful and moving. love this comp of Billy. Classy rendition also by Monty. Gosh I love these guys. thx for sharing
Why do ignorant idiots like me only get to hear of such incredible musicians when they die??? I have loved the tiny part of this tune that they used for Barry Norman's programme for years but knew nothing of its wirter and performer. Brings a tear to my eye to hear the whole thing and to watch the modest, beautiful, ego-free way they play it.
Compare it with most of the trash we get fed today...
A sad day indeed in losing such a talent. Billy Taylor exemplified the love of his music and all his colleagues. He exemplified love itself. Farewell, dear man. Farewell.
An amazing life now over. Thank you, Dr Taylor, for enriching my life with your music, and for introducing us to so many other talented musicians on your show.
Thank You Billy Taylor. We will Tap Dance in tribute to You, Nina Simone and "I Wish I knew How It Would Feel to Be Free" this New Year's Day at The Bowery Poetry Club at 1st St and The Bowery in New York City. With love, admiration and inspiration
Truly missed! I'll be right here, thinking, how does it feel! really! RIP my brother....let us learn to give thanks, as we have opportunity! He MADE a Difference for me! Thank you! Amen
This is unbelievably brilliant, always raises a smile too, its incredible, utterly sublime. Not to get too carried away but you rarely see musical genius like this these days, love it :) Wish I could play half as good lol. Thanks for sharing dude :) never take it down :D
I can just about get words together to express the simple genius of this unison between two greats of the music world.Ive been looking out for some inspiration to get back into playing my piano and here it is tonight , its a moment of unique pleasure in music great balance and freedom across the keyboard.. Music exists for moments like this.. Thankyou for your time to upload this hidden treasure.
Yeah i agree with Ozzwooz, Religious types are always happy to assume that people are inspired to do amazing things by Their respective deities, but when bad shit occurs they are never willing to believe or accept that it was their god, what utter cunts
Religion has nothing to do with this, this is Those guys hard work, effort and to a very slim extent, their genes, stupid religious types would desecrate their hard work by saying that some invisible man/deity 'blessed' them, tossers
Ozz please excuse my comment. I have recently decided to look at the science side of religion. And I have now realized that being a christian was the biggest mistake in my life.
One of my most loved songs. I was listening to this on your channel a couple weeks ago and I followed the advertised link to tickets at Ronnie Scott's. I bought a pair and went to see Monty play last night! Amazing! Thanks for the link.
You can get a lead sheet of it (chords and melody). Most of this, if not, all of this is improvised so I don't think there's note for note sheet music.. unless someone transcribes it.
Thanks a lot for uploading this music.... <3

Dr.Taylor is a true gem. Possibly the nicest person I have ever met and very humble, which says a lot given his background, education and skill.

My thoughts exactly, having met Mr. Taylor on several occasions. His former bass player, Victor Gaskin, was equally humble and kind.
