  • Great Song, Shit Guitar!

  • 1988 was the year when the earth stopped to see two guitar gods and honor one of the greatest icons of will power and fight for equality of the races.

    Congratulations Dire Straits.

    Congratulations Eric Clapton

  • os cara manda muito

  • The 2 best guitar players on the planet.

  • You know you're a badass when you're pulling off licks at sixteenths of a second and your face shows zero expression 8:28

  • As for Clapton having to play rhythm guitar, I think Eric's done alright for himself. He probably doesn't need to shove for the spotlight at a friend's show. I would imagine that playing alongside Clapton is intimidating enough, so it's a credit to Knoffler that he has slowhand up there with him in the first place, as I imagine most people would be wary of being shown up at their own gig, with their own material. Both these guys deserve our respect.

  • That was unbelievable .......Mark wrote and sang the song so he should play lead .......I'm sure Clapton loved just playing period ......not where or what he'd being playing .....So many greats, they all own the level of greatness..... ty for the vid

  • Mark Knopfler has put Clapton to play base guitar oO

    Can't believe!

  • @BRVNL I'm pretty sure that's called rythm guitar

  • Two guitar gods on stage playing together. It's awesome. I wish I could have been at that concert to see it live.

  • No, it's Chris White on the sax.

  • Is that Mit Romney on the sax??

  • @ArikBulldog No, Pink Floyd did.

  • Incidentally, none of these artists get wrapped up in whose better so why should we

  • They're both good, listen to the words, it's not about being "known" or making it, it's about playing "like anything" and swinging with the sultans, let the music breathe just enjoy it

  • legendary shit man both of them. Art is eternal and absolutes that draw falsely dichotomous choices are FU**ING RETARDED! It is all a matter of taste and beautiful in it's own right.

Nothing is better or best it just is what it is....and these two guys are creative and cool.

  • its not a RECORD or SOMETHING? i want this version in MP3

  • Lunch break from 6:30 to 7:20, these guys are just soo classic.

  • adoro a mark es mi idolo de la guitarra es el mejor wooooooo larga vida a el

  • Who is the better guitarist???? I 'd love this song!!!

  • Not to belittle Eric Clapton, who's only failure is writing good songs, he's only good for backup guitarist compared to the great Mark Knopfler. When Mark plays he portrays what's in his mind, heart and spirit, his skill allows him to do that.

  • @Cyberat0 lol you obviously know nothing about Clapton then, Clapton is arguably the best guitarist that has ever lived. Knopfler is damn good i agree but there is a reason people called Clapton God. As for his song writing ability, i would like to see you or anyone you know do it better.

  • @JTrut19 imo knopfler is better than clapton. song writting ability ? clapton copied almost all blues tracks he could found and don't forget he stole cocaine and after midnight to jj cale. Listen to any clapton's solo it's pure blues whereas knopfler is more creative check brothers in arms tunnel of love telegraph road

  • @kahlan4182 you sir are a fool

  • @kahlan4182 That's stupid. I love both Mark and Eric, but what you wrote is stupid. They are both legends and any kind of comparison of them two is stupid. Oh, and, you wrote some of Mark's songs, but what about "Tears in heaven"?

  • @wlattkouzd read again sugar i said in my opinion

  • @kahlan4182 Inspiration and stealing are two different words. So what if he plays the blues and knoplfer doesn't. Clapton wrote songs like Tears in Heaven and Layla, which are beautiful in their own right.

  • eric is a legend!!! ok he steel some song but he play,s it with his owne sound :)

  • lo siento Misters, no sé ingles y ha pesar de ello me encanta. Un pato (cuac, cuac)

  • this is awsome!

  • Best version

  • @DeathToNewbie are you sure? better than ALCHEMY LIVE?

  • @skyscraper7474 Never.Alchemy is the Best.

  • Clapton is letting the others have fun. Just it.

  • ma è travaglio?

  • magic knopfler

  • This the reserved version....peer pressure!

  • Why is Clapton playing rhytm ?!

  • @IsotopeC12 Because it's dire straits' song probably, Mark's a great guitarist

  • @cheel83 Yes I know, for me he is in the same class as Clapton, but it was strange for me Clapton not to play any kind of solo.

  • @IsotopeC12

    Because Knopfler's on lead!

  • wow geldof is a great guitarist

  • Make Clapton play rythym guitar - challenging.

  • mggeels I, hope be as good father than yours with ours sixties music and more

  • @TomPauley Yeah mate, it most certainly is.:) But so are Sultans of Swing, Tunnel of Love, Telegraph Road, Romeo and Juliet, Once Upon A Time in the West...and many, many more. (love them all, especially the live versions.:D)

  • SUPERB - THE EXCELENCE MAN OF THE GUITAR

  • Strange how good music can make up for bad fashion. I'm hardly even noticing the shoulder pads over the godly tunes

  • Mark Knopfler is the only person I've heard in my entire life who can make a guitar sing in Italian.

  • eric clapton norris!

  • Genial....

  • why isn't clapton soloing

  • @ksjl123 because mark knopfler is there. plus its a dire straits song

  • @Thakar98 and ksjl123: out of pure respect towards Mark's incredible playing. He COULD fire out, but he doesn't want to (and doesn't need to), because this is Mark's song and Mark's music. Man, his "Chet Atkins as Mariachi" style makes me cry...

  • @ksjl123 coz this isnt his song?

  • without a shadow of dought best 2 guitarists of my generation

  • Dire Straits, comò sempre MATOU A PAU!

  • Is that a clean guitar sound?

  • like a boss

  • Solo after 05:00 make tears flow.

  • Dude, the sax is fucking awesome

  • @plaft21 True man... I mean, Sultans of swing is definitely a GUITAR song, yet that sax and piano part is just as touching and beautiful as the rest of the song... it's just... perfect, it doesn't make you say "hey, shut up, I wanna hear the guitar", but rather "OMG..."

  • love the extra chords

  • Mark looks bored.

  • @jmdb1994 wouldnt you be, playing that song 900000000000 times a year

  • @DuendeUrbano2 It's an eargasm so? Lol

  • his rhythm guitarist is GOD!

  • @bullgoosesmegma it's eric clapton

  • @bullgoosesmegma , the rhythl guitarist is CLAPTON

  • @vladpablo you must be a hell of a guitarplayer that clapton is playing the rhythmchords for you!

  • Not many people had Eric Clapton as a background guitarist.

  • @ArikBulldog its called a rhythm guitarist......and he said it was an honor to play with the band that has sold more albums in england than anyone.....DIRE STRAITS

  • @domanski1000 DIRE STRAITS has sold more albums in england than anyone? are you sure? didn't know that.

  • Mark is Guitar George!!!!!

  • Can anyone identify Knopfler's guitar brand for me?

  • @turydragon Pensa Custom MK II

  • wow

  • 5:54 clapton envys Mark

  • Clapton + Knopfler = Best duo ever

  • Knopfer is No 1!!!

  • Effortless.

  • So, so happy my father raised me with the music of legends such as Clapton and Knopfler. I would have been a Gaga or Katy Perry kid otherwise... Thanks for your amazing taste in music dad!

  • @mggeels Do the same to your kids man, someday they'll thank you with tears in the eyes XD.

  • @mggeels wtf? if u really like this music u'd have liked it even if ur dad didnt raised u with it, so dont say bullshits

  • @EchidnaVideos -- No, moron. @mggeels was exposed to this music early on because of his/her father, and, therefore, developed a taste for it from a young age.

If, for example, your father/mother/parents would have continuously played {insert artist/genre} music, you'd have grown up listening to it from an young age and developed a taste for it. You could, still, have heard other artists later and, maybe even grown to like them [more than those you heard when you were young].

  • @EchidnaVideos (@mggeels) -- Of course, sometimes that can be useful. I can listen to crap music, and, usually, not throw up; it's because I was raised around mostly-terrible music. Fortunately, I have the internet - the internet rescued me. (Thank you, Internet!:)

  • @sierra087 that was i meant, why the fuck did u need to offend me? i was raised with music that now i can't even talk about, but i discovered by myself some artists and music genres and i started to like 'em, just this

  • @EchidnaVideos -- Why did you react to @mggeels' comment with a "wtf?" and told him "dont [sic] say bullshits [sic]"?

Same reason [for me]...pretty much. :-)

  • @sierra087 yes you're right but u called me a moron and it turned out i meant exactly what u said (cause i also discovered music by internet).

"You could, still, have heard other artists later and, maybe even grown to like them [more than those you heard when you were young]." I just wanted to say that if u REALLY like a kind of music today, u'd have liked it even if ur father didnt raised u with it

  • @mggeels fuck katy perry i agree with you,,,,,,,,but Lady Gaga, dude shes a kick ass jazz musican ?????

  • Again, with the classics!

  • (..) a band izz blowinnnng (a)_Dixie..double four-time - i just love that

  • on loop to eternity! still wont bore me down!

  • Eric Clapton reminds me of Chuck Norris xD

  • who plays the sax ?

  • @lautern1996 That's Chris White, great player, one of the bests.

  • Curtindo Mark Knopler e Eric Clapton...Demais...

  • 11 people ought to have used a condom

  • 11 justin bieber fans clicked on the wrong thumbnail lmao

  • bet if you gave both mark and eric a song to each come up with a solo seperatly... how close would those solos be? thats what i think. theyre styles are so close, and the nickname of "slowhand" could easily fit either. clapton has, and will always have that style in which he carries himself that is truely unique, knophler..his playing style and sound will always be truley unique. saw clapton in 86, dire in 89..they both had the place on there feet..

  • And screw you guy's, he's fae Scotland XD

  • Trés trés trés bon son

  • WwwwoooooowwwwwwwwWWWWWW!!

  • Do not compare Mark and Eric. God and Jesus don't compete to see who is more important.

  • What is the guitar he plays here?? Suhr?

    Looks very good!

  • @MartyCannava Pensa custom guitar

  • 06:47 Clapton: Mark, can i make a solo?

    Knopfler: ¿?

    Clapton: Yeah... a little.

    Knoplfer: Let me see... No.

    XD

  • Epic.

  • (l)

  • Perfect!
