The debate over the greatest actor of all time has always come between two men: Sir Laurence Olivier who represented classical acting and Marlon Brando who represented the Method. And they have all been fantastic performances, despite 'Nine' failing to make an impact (his own performance was exemplary). He's the greatest actor of our time, and one of the greatest of all time. Its best not to assume...I think DDL's got a good chance of success (his talent, Spielberg's competency, and a Kushner script) But movies are a funny thing--lots of things can go wrong. And they have all been fantastic performances, despite 'Nine' failing to make an impact (his own performance was exemplary). He's the greatest actor of our time, and one of the greatest of all time. Very humble, level-headed, and down-to-earth. Fantastic man!!

Dont jinx the man...Many people thought he'd win a 3rd Oscar for Nine (and that was a total failure). Many people thought Dicaprio would win his first Oscar for J.Edgar (and so far--the reviews have not been great.) Its best not to assume...I think DDL's got a good chance of success (his talent, Spielberg's competency, and a Kushner script) But movies are a funny thing--lots of things can go wrong. Let's just wish for a good performance.

This man is one of the BEST actors of all Time. He is so underrated IMO.. Just look at him here, so civilized , and then some of his many characters , like Bill the Butcher in Gangs of NY . Its like he transforms himself into the character completely. Absolutely amazingly talented man... I am in Awe of his skills.

If Mr. Depp plays more serious and noteworthy roles he may someday win an Oscar. Pirate captains in action-adventure films are neither serious nor noteworthy roles for Oscar consideration. Why does not Hollywood need to use talent from the United Kingdom for the the serious and challenging roles in films? The home grown talent is more suited for slapstick, formula comedy and the action-adventure genre.

He just goes with roles that attract him, not to the extent of Nicholas Cage who takes everything, but he doesn't narrow down his area of acting like Daniel. Many people hope he gets one eventually, but not until there's someone less deserving of it while he's nominated.
