If there is no number, dont strum the strings. If there is an X dont strum the strings. If there is a 0, strum the strings.

the letters,starting at e go up those are your 6-1 strings going up, 6 being on the bottom and the number next to it is the fret starting from the top neck of the guitar if they are on top of each other its a chord..
