it is funny that Mr.Professor asked if he works here, because he is a main character in the first show in the Tartakovsky era, which preceded the hanna-barbara era.
It seems surprising to me that almost every cartoon have a non-villain character who ended up as the most hated by the fandom than the villains themselves.
I just don't get it at all. Why is it that people need characters like Scrappy Doo so that they can point out their fingers and say "Oh my god! That was the most annoying person I've ever seen in a cartoon!"?
CN needs to follow Nick's example and make a Late-night Retro block or something for a little. Take one night away from Adult Swim and give it to the CARTOON CARTOONS. They deserve it. Hell, Adult Swim itself did a retro thing with the original logos and everything and it worked out awesome.
i dnt really understand wy people would hate on scrappy he showed way more heart than scooby ever did in almost all the mysteries ive ever seen of scooby doo scooby always runs away and jumps in shaggys arms almost never showing any courage and doesnt even solves the mystery yet somehow gets the credit for it yet everyone questions scrappy but doesnt question scooby i mean really people scrappy was a great addition to the gang and the show remains one of my favorites along with scrappy
In all the years I had watches Scooby-Doo... Scrappy never bothered me much. >.< I think people might of found him annoying, because he thought it could take on anything like a pompous punk. XD But in actuality, he could. XD He was a pretty tough pup with "PUPPY POWER!" XD
The cartoon channels obviously never knew the phrase "If it's not Broke, don't fix it." They took all the good shows... and replaced them with Garbage. Scrappy would not be pleased, just like alot of us aren't. Hell, Since Cartoon networks been ruined, if and when I have children, I'm looking for old VHS tapes or DVD's of the cartoons I watched when I was growing up so they can know the good shows, not the crappy ones.
@ILoveEmilee say what you like... but i still kinda like him... the only problem with him, to me, is that he always said "puppy power" way too much... yikes... and once in that one episode, i think it was scooby's birthday, in the scooby doo show, HE NEARLY GOT FRED ARRESTED with that "watch".... but hes cute, gotta admit that : )
A Complete Classic. If Scrappy saw all the newer cartoon star's of today like "Regular Show", 'Adventure Time, and Gumball the Cat, he'll really be tick off.
Scrappy got better. And he loved his uncle Scooby. So why would he want to kill him? That and Raja Gosnell practically ignored most of the 80s continuity. Really? So that's how it happened? Don't get me wrong, he's a good director and the characters were portrayed well by the cast but I much prefer the story of Scooby-Doo 2.

@superdude2194 technically if you consider what makes a cartoon great, CN's shows are comparatively the best, meaning their era lasted the second longest to Disney (Toon Disney at that time), with some shows that are still slightly fresh and/or enjoyable, not to mention that they are the only network to put there neck out for to create Boomerange for there old cartoons. @TherealRNO I am sorry, I understand that the character restrictions can cause word cramming. Please summerize your point and I will reread your previous comment with full understanding of your intensional message and give a more adequate responce. (I am not being snobish, I am practicing vocab usage as was as writing more expressively).
@DukeTravers: You said the Disney stuff was longest, followed by the CCF line up, but that's not true. Nickelodeon's surpassed CCF in longevity with its Nicktoons block, since there've been new ones from 1991 to the present. Rugrats & Spongebob are the longest-running, with the original Rugrats running from a 1990 pilot to somewhere in 2004 & the All Grown Up spinoff running from 2003-2006. As for Spongebob, he began in late 1998/early 1999 & is still going to this day.
@TherealRNO I am not sure what CCF is, but I will say the era of quality Television cartooning began in the mid-late 80s with Disney shows that REALLY raised the bar. (They aired their shows on ABC Originally; Who Knew?) and the era continued onto '04-'06 when most of the quality in cartooning begun to fall, the exceptions that broke the falling trend was Avatar, Phineas and Ferb (yes actually not that tasteless), a CN cartoon still has the Satire that made that era good; Disney has endured.
@DukeTravers: CCF aka Cartoon Cartoon Fridays, ya know the block on late-night Fridays that begot most of the 90s CN cartoons? I knew that the mouse aired stuff on ABC (ex: The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh), being born in 1984. Teen Titans, Justice League, All Grown Up (Rugrats tween spinoff), etc. are all good shows from the 00s. Invader ZIM too, as the Ren & Stimpy of its time in 2001, much like what CN would do with Billy & Mandy, but that more a personal preference, though.
@TherealRNO I know Cartoon Cartoon Fridays. I just didn't recognize the acronym. No, I wasn't guessing your age with the parenthsis in my last reply. It was a joke. the people I have this discussion with are kids from the late 90's and '00 who bag on Disney for being utterly devoid of creativity. Although, I too grown in the 90's, I actually grew up in the 90's, the 70's, and the golden age in cartooning (Popeye, Betty Boop, Mickey Mouse). I am labeled, 'cartoon lovin' freak' by teenage peers.
@DukeTravers: Well, the mouse house is denying fans the treasure of its legacy, leaving the DVDs & theme parks to carry on the tradition alone, whilst the TV station backs that mindless teen-pop BS that no one will remember in a couple of years. But I too am a lover of the classics, both cartoon & live-action.
@TherealRNO Take a closer look, EVERYBODY is denying their legecy (Nick is more, in my view; ask me and I'll tell you what). But everybody is also rose-tinting their childhood shows. What I mean to say is for us to complain that all new shows are automatically pitiful attempts at comedy is like our previous generation complaining about today's "laserbeam" violence and mature reference, w/out seeing Tom attacking Jerry with a firemans axe after smokeing a thick cigar that gave him a black face.
@DukeTravers: Nick has the 90s Are All That, which airs their classics from 10 pm to 2 am every night on TeenNick & also uploads material to the block's website. In the same way, CN airs the Cartoon Cartoons on Boomerang & will have an entire block dedicated to DC Comics' material--complete with a new Batman series, a new Green Lantern series, & the return of the Teen Titans--come later this year on its main station. Code Lyoko is also set to have its fifth season this year, too.
It's not mere nostalgia & you know it. It's a lull in quality, where children's shows talk down to their audience (which old Disney, anything by Jim Henson, self-aware shows like Animaniacs, etc. never did), most cartoons lack quality writing or are drawn crudely (or both)--with the only good ones being reinventions of former series (ex: the new MLP show)--live action being superficial, brain-numbing, previous generation-insulting BS done simply to whore out performers for easy cash.
@TherealRNO I agree with the first sentence, but not the second. Yes there are shows that do this and the number increased in the beginning of the decade. But it is an overstatement how bad things are. My Little Pony gets an award as much for being on a new channel with no past to haunt them as its writing and crisp animation. Sure it has a 90s cartoon writer, But so did Mighty Bee, times ten; the show got exactly what Spongebob lost so many years ago. But generational bais doesn't help her.
@TherealRNO I am posting a second reply due to comment restrictions, if you haven't read the other (previous) reply, please do so before cont.
So it may seem like teen pop watev now, but Disney is always been that way. Disney was first from the first to do this, 70s can give a HUGE nod right now and Disney did it better than that them. And for the record, some of the jokes are enjoyable, and are akin to the backstage of the muppets show. H/S Cliques? I've seen worst in Scooby doo.
"And for the record, some of the jokes are enjoyable, and are akin to the backstage of the muppets show."
You're utterly blind if you can compare the great genius of Jim Henson's homage to the vaudeville style of comedy to the poorly-written Family Guy style of insulting drivel that dare passes for humor these days.
@TherealRNO I will not disaggre with Jim henson's being a genius at all. What I say is his sense of humor was and has well inspired, character driven, pun-littered, self referencial, and sometimes even purposefully cheesy humor is a ostensible comparison. which makes sense being that the muppet show was aired on disney channel after abc (both Disney), and the eventual buying of the muppet name. it implies that they liked what the muppets had and didn't want it to die with that one generation.
God, wtf happened to cartoon network? It was everyone's favorite channel. Now, it's full of these pointless shows, like adventure time, or the misadventures of flapjack and chowder. Remember scooby doo? Or robot boy, or the power puff girls? And Ed edd and eddy? Maybe johnny bravo? I miss that. Now, I hope they know that pretty much no one watches there shows anymore. I wish the'd change back...
You know...watching this commercial was one of the few times I was truly afraid while watching Cartoon Network/CCF. I didn't even know what Scrappy was saying.
I feel sorry for Scrappy-Doo, he gave us great shows in the 80s only to be replaced with rubbish modern cartoons. I don't blame him for being so angry!
Death is too good for you-you deserve castration, penis removal, limb removal, eye removal, tongue removal, the burning of the inside of the nose and the puncturing of the eardrums, leaving you a sightless, scentless, cockless, ballsless deaf, mute invalid doomed to the prison of your own mind for the rest of your life, totally alone.
I feel for Scrappy , I really do. But technically he is barking at the wrong perpetrators of Cartoon Networks demise. If Scrappy could only meet Johnny Test , Ben10 , My Gym Partner is a Monkey , Total Drama Island , Adventure Time and all the reality shows that are on there he would die of shame.
People saying cartoons are shit these days are either ignorant or just don't like cartoons anymore. Symbionic Titan, Adventure Time, and Young Justice ALONE should keep you happy, let alone Regular Show, the upcoming Thundercats and Spidey cartoon, Avatar: Legend of Korra.. The new looney toons show...
THE LIST GOES ON AND ON, and yet modern nostalgia-driven derps think it doesn't get better than the 90's.
@CrunchyModem Well let me tell you Young Justice does makes me happy, the new spidey...not so much I mean how can you improve upon Spectacular perfection, I am willing to eat my words but with the guys from Ben 10 behind it right now I can doubt it. Legend of Korra, yeah a sequel to the most overrated cartoon evah it's what I need. I do not think modern cartoons suck I just do not adhere to your examples.
@CrunchyModem You have to admit though the 90s were an awesome time (besides the whole Rodney King Incident). I don't know, Regular show and Symbionic Titan just feel a bit too old for Cartoon Network to me and I guess I kind of like Adventure Time because it kind of reminds me of Ren and Stimpy. Anyways my point is that the "GOOD" shows don't show frequently enough. The amount of "What is this? Change the channel" outweighs the "Oh yeah! Awesome show!" by a long shot.
Cartoon Network is being taken over by lame superhero shows and live action shows, isn't it? I mean, "Dude, What Would Happen?", "Destroy, Build, Destroy". Those aren't cartoons. And they're beyond lame. XP Right?
@NaiTaiDai Hey don't diss the superheroes. Justice League and Teen Titans were awesome. The current superhero shows like Young Justice, Ben 10, and Generator Rex aren't so bad. Besides those only show maybe a few times a week.
i can just see every single cartoon cartoon character outside Cartoonnetwork Studios ranting just like Scrappy, and he'll be like 'I TOLD YOU ALL! HAHAHAHA!' whilst Ben 10, Chowder and all the other stupid things on the channel now walking by like 'wow. i'm glad we'll never end up like that.'
This video was made by the wrong company at the wrooonnnngggg timeeeee. Though CN is still kinda good, It lost it touch. Johnny test has a talking dog. Oh yeah. Real oringal. Rember the freaking friday stuff they used to air? That was f-ing awesome!!! Now we got bull crap, like mad. Though i like it, I don't want to see cartoon's witch is nothing but pardoy and bad spy vs spy amiton.
So cartoon network air this again, but with the new cartoon's!! Also... MAKE GOOD CARTOONS!!!! Nuff' said.
I remember teh good old days, back when The CN actually had cartoons on it, insted of this live action BULLSHIT DRECK that they'er trying to force-feed use today
Yes ppl! Scrappy deserves some credit! He helped Scooby Doo not be canceled in the 80s he added something to the gang! He was the typical cute annoying character in the group! Every cartoon has that!?!?! Scrappy should have at least gone in a good wat like staying behind with family gone on his own or just had a goin away episode! They should have never made Scappy the villian!
Well this generally fits with the context of how they didn't really like Scrappy to begin with. When he was first introduced, the Scooby cartoons jumped the shark from mystery shows to fighting comical supernatural forces with Scrappy being more of the protagonist than Scooby or the kids. The series suffered from the infamous "COS", using a new younger character to garner new ratings. He's quite similar to that irritating cutesy mascot character type in anime.
@JJ3792 But does he really deserve it? Yes, Scrappy helped bolster Scooby Doo's popularity back in the day he was introduced, and without him we may not have Scooby Doo at all today. Sadly, this is overshadowed for many of us to whom he comes across as an overly obnoxious little runt who tries picking fights that are entirely out of his league. His overall, relentlessly ineffectual presence in the field of being "let at 'em" to "splat 'em" just adds salt to the wound.
Cartoon network, what happened Please bring them back I loved the great shows like sheep in the big city, grim and evil (and the grim adventures the billy and mandy), The ols scooby doo show, courage the cowlardly dog, dexers laboratory, cow and chicken,ed edd n eddy, tom and jerry Do i need to say more!
Why is Scrappy acting like a bitch in this commercial?! Not only do those people not deserve it, but that doesn't look like him. If he was ranting like that to the new cartoons and the live action people in that manner, that is fine with me.
I don't know why people hate Scrappy so much =(. I was always a bit of a Scrappy fan. I mean really, I understand people not liking him, but was he really that bad =(?
@MarioLuigi25 Yes yes he was, well at least for me annoying somehow and that is why I love this commercial, but that is just me and my POV and to be honest I could be called distasteful, I did not found Sucker Punch as bad as critics said, Not a mind blowing movie but not as bad yet I hate RotK and Last Airbender deeply
@chaffXgrenade I agree that CN is garbage nowadays. But I think you missed the point of this ad, which is how GOOD it is that Scrappy-Doo isn't on there anymore. :)

DukeTravers 1 month ago
TherealRNO 1 month ago
@TherealRNO I know Cartoon Cartoon Fridays. I just didn't recognize the acronym. No, I wasn't guessing your age with the parenthsis in my last reply. It was a joke. the people I have this discussion with are kids from the late 90's and '00 who bag on Disney for being utterly devoid of creativity. Although, I too grown in the 90's, I actually grew up in the 90's, the 70's, and the golden age in cartooning (Popeye, Betty Boop, Mickey Mouse). I am labeled, 'cartoon lovin' freak' by teenage peers.
DukeTravers 1 month ago
@DukeTravers: Well, the mouse house is denying fans the treasure of its legacy, leaving the DVDs & theme parks to carry on the tradition alone, whilst the TV station backs that mindless teen-pop BS that no one will remember in a couple of years. But I too am a lover of the classics, both cartoon & live-action.
TherealRNO 1 month ago
@TherealRNO Take a closer look, EVERYBODY is denying their legecy (Nick is more, in my view; ask me and I'll tell you what). But everybody is also rose-tinting their childhood shows. What I mean to say is for us to complain that all new shows are automatically pitiful attempts at comedy is like our previous generation complaining about today's "laserbeam" violence and mature reference, w/out seeing Tom attacking Jerry with a firemans axe after smokeing a thick cigar that gave him a black face.
DukeTravers 1 month ago
@DukeTravers: Nick has the 90s Are All That, which airs their classics from 10 pm to 2 am every night on TeenNick & also uploads material to the block's website. In the same way, CN airs the Cartoon Cartoons on Boomerang & will have an entire block dedicated to DC Comics' material--complete with a new Batman series, a new Green Lantern series, & the return of the Teen Titans--come later this year on its main station. Code Lyoko is also set to have its fifth season this year, too.
TherealRNO 1 month ago
It's not mere nostalgia & you know it. It's a lull in quality, where children's shows talk down to their audience (which old Disney, anything by Jim Henson, self-aware shows like Animaniacs, etc. never did), most cartoons lack quality writing or are drawn crudely (or both)--with the only good ones being reinventions of former series (ex: the new MLP show)--live action being superficial, brain-numbing, previous generation-insulting BS done simply to whore out performers for easy cash.
TherealRNO 1 month ago
@TherealRNO I agree with the first sentence, but not the second. Yes there are shows that do this and the number increased in the beginning of the decade. But it is an overstatement how bad things are. My Little Pony gets an award as much for being on a new channel with no past to haunt them as its writing and crisp animation. Sure it has a 90s cartoon writer, But so did Mighty Bee, times ten; the show got exactly what Spongebob lost so many years ago. But generational bais doesn't help her.
DukeTravers 1 month ago
@TherealRNO I am posting a second reply due to comment restrictions, if you haven't read the other (previous) reply, please do so before cont.
So it may seem like teen pop watev now, but Disney is always been that way. Disney was first from the first to do this, 70s can give a HUGE nod right now and Disney did it better than that them. And for the record, some of the jokes are enjoyable, and are akin to the backstage of the muppets show. H/S Cliques? I've seen worst in Scooby doo.
DukeTravers 1 month ago
"And for the record, some of the jokes are enjoyable, and are akin to the backstage of the muppets show."
You're utterly blind if you can compare the great genius of Jim Henson's homage to the vaudeville style of comedy to the poorly-written Family Guy style of insulting drivel that dare passes for humor these days.
TherealRNO 1 month ago

CrunchyModem 11 months ago
@CrunchyModem Well said, comrade. Well said. In fact, I'm a fucking Regular Show AND Ren and Stimpy fan faggot!! :D
rptheory 11 months ago
@CrunchyModem Well let me tell you Young Justice does makes me happy, the new spidey...not so much I mean how can you improve upon Spectacular perfection, I am willing to eat my words but with the guys from Ben 10 behind it right now I can doubt it. Legend of Korra, yeah a sequel to the most overrated cartoon evah it's what I need. I do not think modern cartoons suck I just do not adhere to your examples.
DDevospartan 11 months ago

XP Right?
NaiTaiDai 11 months ago
@NaiTaiDai i know how you feel, it's called cartoon network, shouldn't it be for only cartoons?
eques101 11 months ago
@NaiTaiDai Hey don't diss the superheroes. Justice League and Teen Titans were awesome. The current superhero shows like Young Justice, Ben 10, and Generator Rex aren't so bad. Besides those only show maybe a few times a week.

Scrappy. Look how bad Cartoon Network is now. They don't even have a good logo.
ukhistorian 1 year ago 5
Well this generally fits with the context of how they didn't really like Scrappy to begin with. When he was first introduced, the Scooby cartoons jumped the shark from mystery shows to fighting comical supernatural forces with Scrappy being more of the protagonist than Scooby or the kids. The series suffered from the infamous "COS", using a new younger character to garner new ratings. He's quite similar to that irritating cutesy mascot character type in anime.

JJ3792 1 year ago
@JJ3792 But does he really deserve it? Yes, Scrappy helped bolster Scooby Doo's popularity back in the day he was introduced, and without him we may not have Scooby Doo at all today. Sadly, this is overshadowed for many of us to whom he comes across as an overly obnoxious little runt who tries picking fights that are entirely out of his league. His overall, relentlessly ineffectual presence in the field of being "let at 'em" to "splat 'em" just adds salt to the wound.
