  • I had to put on more clothes because of the shivers.

  • Just wondering, how many Radiohead closing tracks deal with death? I count three: Motion Picture Soundtrack, Videotape, and Separator.

  • chillls every single time.

  • In an interview with the Observer Music Magazine December 2007, Thom Yorke was asked if "Motion Picture Soundtrack," the last track on Kid A, ends with a suicide. The Radiohead vocalist replied: "No, 'Motion Picture Soundtrack' ends with little tweety angel noises, I seem to remember. [sings quietly] 'I will see you in the next life...' No, that could just be saying goodbye to someone dying. They don't have to be doing it themselves. You can read suicide into most things, can't you?"

  • I cry everytime.

  • This song is like a cross between The Beatles' A day in the Life and Pink Floyd's outside the wall

  • @aboxxinc this song is like something we can never understand

  • Comment removed

  • I think 6 people are crazy for sure

  • @duckotaco Context is everything, judge not lets ye be judged... ;D

  • @nazaxprime I thumbed down your comment.

  • @duckotaco Here, have a cookie.

  • One of the most beautiful pieces of music ever recorded.

  • Wow this song has some really great comments. This is such a beautiful song. It's a hauntingly beautiful and depressing song. And just when you think it's finally over. You get that little hopeful instrumental. I didn't care much for a lot of Kid A but when you end an album with something as powerful as this then it all just seems irrelevant. What a beautiful beautiful song.

  • I've listened to this album about 15 times, and I JUST found this song. OTL

  • See you in the next life...

  • Is this the only Radiohead song with a hidden track?

  • "Maybe I will see you in the next life" is one of the most powerful and emotionally resonant lyrics in musical history.

  • I sruggle to express just how perfectly this song is structured... that brief resurgance of music that follows the complete digital silence is undoubtedly the most uplifting sound ever recorded by a group of musicians. Beautifully optimistic ending for an otherwise relentlessly bleak masterpiece.

  • Rip darling Thom

  • @Drenex00 Thom isn't dead...

  • i wish this played in my dreams.

  • What a bunch of whiny bitches....

  • This is is going to get me through my father's funeral today. I know it.

  • life and death

  • I think that I just raped the play button. But not like all those comment that say the same; I just really, really raped it......and I'm doing it again.

  • Magnifique.

  • That silence is so effective, so peaceful.

God bless you Radiohead, Kid A will forever be my favourite album.

  • Best song off Kid A thats saying ALOT

  • so im new to the whole itunes thing, after searching: red hot chili peppers, metallica, alice in chains, ect, i came to realise that unlike all the other bands, i literally like almost every single radio head song :y

  • @werty302 Red Hot Chili Peppers is the only other band where I like literally every song, including B-Sides

  • LIGETI

  • my very own opinion about the whole record, its that .... its the whole process of dying, every song its a stage, and this final song its you last moment alive, and the big silence part at 3:16 its the moment where you die, and the gorgeous sounds at 4:17 its the moment where you finally reach peace

  • @Sup3rmassiveDeadStar I was wondering why there was such a long silence at the end of this song. Your interpretation makes sense to me.

  • @Sup3rmassiveDeadStar Wow. Enlightening.

  • karma police, paranoid android, no suprises, htdc, idioteque, all amazing but this is just something else

  • I think I'm crazy, maybe.

  • @skying90 Me too...

  • harp-tastic

  • 1. Open A new youtube tag

    2. search keane - hamburg song

    3. play both songs along

  • Theres nothing in the last 3 minutes.

  • @cagedbutterfly93 That's how the song is on the album. There is a lot of empty space on this song.

  • @perfectupper90 pretty funny if you ask me, but it is radiohead

  • never a truer song...

  • I like radiohead and don't wanna take my life, yay <3

  • @squeezeslemons well arent you fucking perfect

  • @Dudedog48 Nah I'm just not a depressed, suicidal dumb ass like most radiohead fans seem to be.

  • @squeezeslemons That is a pretty ignorant and inaccurate generalization. Good for you though.

  • (what this song means to me)

I gave all my love to this girl. She doesnt want me. So ill stop sending letters. and maybe i dont desreve love like in the movies, cheap sex and sad films is all i will ever get. Even so i cant help but feel. . . I think you're crazy. maybe.

  • @luisdarkangel WOW THAT IS GAY.

  • @luisdarkangel I got a response to that, I think it means this: Life.

  • Does the beginning remind anyone else of "Outside the Wall"?

  • @ANonExistentUser From pink floyd little kinda funny if you you ask me

  • this song is an example of silence being beautiful...the pauses between verses and the breath noise before the "i will see you..." make me feel this unfathomable feeling that's so beautiful

  • I love radiohead's songs, but why do they make me consider what songs should be played at my funeral? Is it because the music is so emotional or is it because the music can be depressing? Any one else?

  • @bfairdb2 Thats because Radiohead's music is beautifully depressing.

  • @JediMasterZao Well said.

  • This is the only song so beautiful, a music video would ruin it.

  • i think your crazy, maybe.

  • The feeling I get when this song ends is the same feeling I get when the credits roll for an amazing movie

  • I first heard this song at a very bad part in my life, I was wanting to end my life, and I heard this song and this song summed up my whole life up until that point, being fed white lies, but something about that part where Thom sings, "Stop sending letters" and the harps come in, I just burst into tears, it was so beautiful and so I've continued living, making myself better, dedicating it to making music, all thanks to this song. this song saved my life.

  • My theory is that the part starting at 4:30 is like, a preview for Amnesiac. Like, a "we're not done yet...". You can hear elements from Amnesiac during that part, an obvious one because the in-reverse-sounding-things from Like Spinning Plates.

  • @NumorWashington very clever catch. the reverse sound in Like Spinning Plates is actually I Will played backwards, just modified a bit.

  • @NumorWashington I always thought of Kid A as a first stages human life preview. It has love,depression...MPS is like a shifting point,a person being reborn after all those years he eventually realizes that everything is wrong and he needs to change it.That's when Packt Like Sardines kicks in

  • I asked my son he needs to play at my funeral these 3 songs:

No surprises, True Love Waits and Motion Picture Soundtrack (and then 4:18 I will go entering to heaven)

  • @ThomRadioheadYorke or hell.

  • I'm I the only one that listens to this before going to bed? I love this much, brings me to such a calm yet sorrowful state..

  • Back when my ex first liked me for a while, he sent me this song because we were both fans of Radiohead. One night it was raining and I tried to find him at Starbucks and waited there for him, playing and replaying this song in my headphones until he turned up. He always said it was a weird song to get together to. "I will see you in the next life"? Well, makes sense now.

This is one of those songs that can put me in the saddest mood of reverie possible.. I think you all know what I mean

  • I dont think Kid A is their best album at all. I like a couple albums way more than this.

    that being said

    I FUCKING LOVE THIS SONG

  • @chobitz7 Keep listening to it. I felt the same way until my third listen.

  • @Stiny114 Oh no I listen to this album a lot just because Its not my favorite does not mean it doesn't get listened to over and over. I really do not think there is a single radiohead album that is not a musical landmark or at least just all around jaw dropping My tastes just have me enjoying other albums more so. Also I did not listen to this when it was first released so the magic of hearing the sounds in this album is spoiled by everyone trying to copy it since on my ipod kid a play count: 37

  • Sometimes I find myself wishing Radiohead weren't so popular. They feel personal to me. It feels wrong that so many others share my enjoyment of their music. Selfish, I know.

  • @annedrodgyness What are you, 14?

  • @mskcouric Live and let live, sweetie. Don't let your insecurities turn into malice.

  • @annedrodgyness Pot kettle black.

  • @mskcouric I was offering well meaning advice. I apologise if it came across as malicious. x

  • @moozikaldoggy You should talk to a doctor about that.

  • This organ part is amazing. If i ever get married, im playing this.

  • Kid A and Motion Picture Soundtrack both have the line "little white lie"...just thought that was interesting.

  • so i finally listened to this album for the first time and I was impressed beyond my wildest expectations. with nearly everything but this. this song did more then that. I teared up a bit and after I heard it, i just replayed it, again...and again...and again....and again. m favorite Radiohead song and one of the most beautiful things ive ever had the pleasure to witness

  • I was looking for the effects of mixing red wine and sleeping pills and this is the only thing that came up.

  • @Jesskii88 red wine and sleeping pills was what killed Hendrix... its always wise to avoid mixing benzos with alcohol. =)

  • I love trying to fall asleep to this song, i'll doze off during the silence and that beautiful noise at the end wakes me back up<3

  • i want this song to be played at my funeral

  • @CutlerDabears Is it crazy that I was thinking the same thing, and like 3 weeks ago put this on my facebook saying the same thing?

  • @CutlerDabears

good to know others feel the same way

  • "I will see you in the next life!"

  • This song is the song that makes those dying moments of suicide the most sad and gratifying. I would know.

  • I think you're crazy.

    Maybe.

  • @Wiiiiiiilliam thats because your ears and brain just had sex

  • Amazing..

  • 4:30 : F**kin' orgasmic.

Excuse me; I'm off to take a shower now.

  • so beautiful it hurts. literally.

  • goosebumps.

  • i'm a huge radiohead fan. i could very well say this is my favourite of there songs.

    so perfect.

  • I always feel exhausted at the end of this song. In a good way though.

  • 4:30 <3

  • Definitely one of the most beautiful tracks I've ever heard, and a perfect end to an amazing album.

  • fair enough, but "one of the worst?" I'm speaking more to the initial song before the long silence, but I just think it is beautiful (I love especially how it opens up around 1:40 with the chime/harp-ish sounds), and in the context of the album i just find it wonderful so it's hard for me to believe that a fan would find it one of the worst! but hey, no disrespect.

  • @spemer12 ur patience is respected by me

  • this song is amazing, beautiful at its biggest sense.

  • One of their worst songs.

  • @KleWdSide joke?

  • @spemer12 No. It's one I could never get into. I think it's kinda dull & the gaps of silence were unnecessary.

  • TGIR

  • Youtube should block the dislike bar from this video. I would be so happy if they did..

  • The end is the swell of heaven

  • To me, from far away, the albun artwork looks like a bunch of members of the KKK. I'm glad it turned out to be mountains!

  • @cellosareawesome CANNOT BE UNSEEN.

  • It made me resemble the band Sigur Rós

  • @MrDanoneretroesponja Interesting, the transforming nature of this band. To turn someone into multiple people is indeed a feat!

  • In little I tough it was kkk members

  • i'm hearing kid c... needle in a haystack...

  • this is what i needed... muy bonito!!!

  • I'm convinced that the part entering at 4:18 isn't a hidden track. As a 'Motion Picture Soundtrack', it's something that would be put to a film, with a gap for a sequence that doesn't need music. If that part were solely a hidden track that wasn't part of the album as a whole, and just stuck on the end, there wouldn't be more silence at the end. I can't confirm that, but that's how I feel.

  • This is backwards. I like it. Unusual. They think i am crazy. They r right, i luv this song!!

  • @kadablanba they're all great

  • I have this album on vinyl. Worth every penny and trillions more.

  • Ronald Regan killed America.

  • @captainjack77 I really hope your joking....

With the way America is right now, you can''t really tell if someone is joking or is just fucking retarded.

  • @shadowfootball1 Now FDR, there's a president.

  • @captainjack77 Hell yeah, we just learned about him in US history. What a beast prez. Except TR was much more badass.

  • @Francois1000 I wasn't talking about his war strategies. Look at his proposed second bill of rights, you'll shit your pants. By the way, 30 and still in school huh? Well it's never late to get an education, good on you.

  • This song reminds me the movie Enter the void ( well the entire album )

  • i was going to look at porn but i came across this song first :)

  • @Georgelogan ...I just did, lol

  • @Georgelogan i'm doing both simultaneously.

  • @Georgelogan best comment eva

  • the silence at the end of this song is more powerful than most music made today.

  • This is the best thing in the entire world.

  • This song is just so great. I feel like this will be the last song I ever hear before I die.

  • Can't wait until Saturday

  • kid a is a masterpiece

  • King of Limbs, Radiohead's 8th album has just been released for pre-order, come out on Saturday, vinyl and cd copies with artwork book ship in May.

I pre-ordered it by reflex, no thought involved. :P

  • @MaxClarkso i did the same damn thing

  • @MaxClarkso Good luck with your shitty newspaper album and your mid-tier rinse repeat 30 minute radiohead LP. Hey, at least you're a "true fan". And Besides, those last few tracks aren't half bad.

  • Awww... this was the year 2000.

Innocent times, right before 9/11 and the downfall of the US economy... miss those times.

This was the last breath of innocence, guys. Beautiful.

  • @sp4eva1 the economy didn't crash for another 6-8 years....

  • @redhawk239 I said 9/11 AND the downfall of the US economy. I mean the whole awful decade of 00-09.

  • @sp4eva1 Well try to think how this decade we're in now can become a 'decade of innocence'.

  • @sp4eva1 uh yeah... because everything was innocent before that.

  • @OceanAndSilence Dude, I'm just saying.. look at where America is now. It's not as "powerful" and "confident" as it used to be.

Geez, I didn't know Radiohead fans could be such uptight bores.

America has taken a beating in the last decade. No one can deny that. We're not what we used to be.

  • @sp4eva1 well, I just don't understand why you're talking about 9/11. it has nothing to do with radiohead, or this song. everything changes, albeit cyclically. other nations have also taken a beating :/

but what would I know, really? simply put, I'm just an uptight bore.

  • @sp4eva1 dude of course we're not confident anymore good things dont last 4ever every empire must fall its just out turn buddie...when the ppl are no longer in control moral goes down, so in a few words we're screwed...and radiohead conveys feelings of decay in their powerful beautiful music

  • @agindisguise09 thanks. That's just what I mean. It also so happens, that I was a teen in the 90s, so growing up I had this "idealized" image of America, but it was also backed up with facts that we were powerful and confident-- but now, to coincide with my adulthood, this country has gone astray....

  • Ok I've had this album for over a year now, and unless I'm really deaf I can't hear anything after 5:12. Is there a particular reason for the minute and 45 seconds of silence?

  • I totally agree with MaxClarkso. I also feel that after The Bends they went the opposite direction compared to most of the other band who wanted to "stay relevant" to the industry. Enter: Ok Computer and they exceeded not only the fans expectations, but some of the same musicians that made that choice and faded away.

  • I love Radiohead, and I never fully understood why Sigur Ros was listed as a inspiration for Thom Yorke, until I heard this song. If your looking for a band that kind of sounds like this look them up.

  • @donoto9 Check out Mogwai as well.. they came before Sigur Ros.

  • @FLyAgaric421 I know of mogwai, but radiohead has open expressed being influenced by Sigur Ros

  • who else, without hesitation, considers this their favorite song? we should actually make the comments useful for once and share

  • Fuckin VeVo!!! You`re blockin videos that i`d like to enjoy. Maybe you pay money, but its not policy of Google. Burn!

  • try opening this same video in another tab like 15 seconds after the first one starts, it sounds pretty cool

  • silence for a hundred seconds. I felt a chill down my spine in anticipation for what was to come. Nothing sadly, though that is what makes Radiohead so great: unpredictable no matter what

  • Good lord.
