  • could be your mobo drivers or settings are wrong, read one user took 1min15seconds to boot win7 at first then corrected the drivers and now 35 seconds boot time with clean install.

  • why is ur pc starting up so slow?????????????? i mean i have some random green drive windows 7 and it starts up like in 15 sec

  • @naveslaikss So did this one...It depends how you timed the 15 seconds, if you time mine from windows loading to windows finished loading then it was around 13-15 seconds. If you time it from POST to loading about 14 heavy duty design programs then it takes 1:03 which is not slow at all. I'v already explained why I have a long POST boot.

  • i got the vertex 3 and its worth every penny happy cutomer here and my laptop boots up in 13 seconds and not 40 maybe due to the i7 processor and 8gb memory running at 1600mhz

  • @srkoza1 So did this one...It depends how you timed the 15 seconds, if you time mine from windows loading to windows finished loading then it was around 13-15 seconds. • That ssd is fast but Ive seen ocz vertex 3 agilty more faster then yours.

    Hows that?

  • @oscar7610 Depends on the OS, the CPU, the motherboard the RAM, the programs being opened and permission settings etc etc..

  • @unb0xed Nah I mean I saw a lot of high end pc but the speed of the ssd is different (Ocz vertex)

  • holy...

  • Trying to explain to a friend that an SSD is about "speed", not "size". He's all like "I can get 4TB of space for the price of 1 SSD, what a rip-off". I'm like "Dude, you don't NEED 4TB, but you NEED the speed!". Argh! /sigh

  • @3Z3K13L08 Haha I know the feeling. I'm always preaching about SSD's, never had something change the performance as drastically as an SSD.

Tell him to get a 500GB HDD and a cheaper SSD,job done. =P. Although in all honesty I couldn't live without my 5TB I think if I had to choose between the two I'd be tempted to say the 5TB.

SLI 580's? Damn I feel spoilt having just one 580 haha! Nice rig dude.Nvidia just released the new 295.73 drivers if you didn't already know. Big improvements.

  • @unb0xed Tempted to add a 3rd 580, I actually have enough saved for 2 more xD. Might grab some studio monitors instead, my sound is the worst thing about my rig atm (running cheap $100 Creative's atm). I'll grab those drivers, thanks for the heads up! I just installed my new Intel 520 240GB yesterday, it beats my old Vertex 2 raid0 setup for sure.

  • @3Z3K13L08 Yeah I'd wait before you get another GPU I'm hearing rumours of some big changes from Nvidia and AMD this year. You know what my sound was one thing I left till last to upgrade, just got a new sound card for it last week, can't believe the difference it made, wasn't even all that expensive a sound card..might be worth looking at one of those to go with the studio monitors, if you don't already have one.

  • i know what my next upgrade is going to be :)

  • well you have an offset of about 2 seconds between the videos @ the start because during the post (until that point has nothing to do with HDD or SSD) the time between chenking the ram -> OK in the "SSD" Machine is 2 sec faster done than the "HDD" Machine.

Well in the end it doesn't matter at all but i want to say that just in case.

  • @CillitBang12388 Yeah well spotted, I probably did line them up slightly wrong it was late when I was editing. I didn't pay much attention to scientific precision to be honest, like you said it didn't really matter, lots of review websites do amazingly accurate tests I couldn't match at home without the information being inaccurate. I was just aiming to take away all the technical details and show people a more visual example of it's speed taking an everyday task to its most extreme vs a HDD.

  • @CillitBang12388 That probably is because of the hard drive spinning up at the beginning, so that could also be given to the SSDs speed

  • awesome! thanks a lot! ;)

  • I will never buy OCZ again. I recently had a Vertex 2 take a shit on me. The RMA process is slow and I am STILL waiting going on two weeks for my replacement.

  • could it be that uve got A pretty slow system ????

  • with my vertex 3 60gb my computer starts in about 30 seconds flat. mind you, i'm not starting photoshop and stuff with windows but still to load the OS, antivirus, and ATI CCC thats fast, especially when before it took around 3-4 minutes to do that.

  • Wow that was amazing!!! So much faster!!

  • That was awesome! So quick. I got the Vertex 60gb cant wait to try it out now :)

  • @eArtrash Cool I hope it all works out for you, be sure to check out the optimisation link in the description. :) p.s just a tip if your a gamer & use steam for games, install it to a storage drive. It won't let you download too anything but the drive its installed on, its a real pain when space is limited on the SSD.

  • @unb0xed holyshit is this actualy true? :O

  • @unb0xed I found the Corsair Force Series 3 120 GB - 600 MBps for a really good price of $120 but it seems to have low scores. Do you know if it's good. Also, I heard there was program or something that would allow you to install games on a different drives.

  • @KedViper Your best bet is to check out reviews online see how it performs against other SSD's for a similar price. Try to find an SSD with a high IOPS, the vertex 3 has 85K IOPS I think. Maybe a buyers guide will help you with what to look for when choosing one. Are you referring to steam games? I use a program called steam tool to transfer them after installation but steam sill only wants me to download and install on the drives its installed on. If you know a better solution let me know :)

  • @unb0xed I think this will work.

    watch?v=TIVNLPz3wfI

  • @KedViper Hey, nice find thanks. I think this is what the steam tool does, except it automates the process so its just a simple click and wait job.

  • Your softwares (Photoshop, adobe after effects ...) was saved on HDD or SDD ?

  • @cistawad Everything opened on the video was installed on the SSD including the OS.

  • @unb0xed ty :)

  • @unb0xed What motherboard do you have? My BIOS go faster (Maximus IV extreme Z)

  • @M3aaaqHD I should hope it does with a motherboard that price. I have the GA-MA790FXT-UD5P. Does exactly what I need. Just out of interest, what kind of features do you get that make it worth the extra cost on the Maximus IV extreme?

  • @unb0xed No reason really, the site that i was buying the pc from only had it and i had extra money to spend..

  • HOLY JESUS THAT IS FAST

  • Very good job , thanks for the useful clip , I am heading for an OCZ VIII

  • OMG, even with a SSD your pc is slow... with a SSD usally a pc starts up within 20 seconds....

  • @theintunity Booting up all of those programs in under a minute is hardly slow. - I'v already explained why the bios takes longer than normal, it has nothing to do with the SSD.

  • @unb0xed aah ok... then it's good :D

  • @theintunity Retard much? Didn't see all the software he was using on his startup?

  • @JukiBelak So what... I saw a dude starting his pc up with a OCZ revodrive 60 GB within 17 seconds and he started 53 programs at startup... so it isn't retarded... I expected more of this SSD for a OCZ vertex... You dont have any intelligence between SSD"s so dont talk like me that oud loud...

  • @theintunity Revodrive IS PCI-E, vertex is SATA 3 - huge difference

  • @JukiBelak No , yo can find some results on tweaker . net , there are also Revodrives for Sata-600's , i have a laptop with sata-600 and it will probably work perfectly, also my chipset is compatible for it....

  • Excelent.

  • what monitor are you using?

  • @azizn02 Dell SP2309W.

  • @unb0xed cant i put ssd and hdd together in cpu?

  • marvell sux at storage speed

  • you have the longest POST time i've seen.

  • @xtechbiz It is very long, I have to use a beta version of the bios for the hex core to run, and the SSD runs off an external card using its own bios adding even more to the time, though it really isn't a problem when it boots in 34 seconds even with all those programs fighting for resources.

  • As does the man to boot to windows most of the programs Adobe CS5 Suite to see it?

  • The vertex 3 is 10 times faster than a HD, considering the BIOS time

  • Fail test ... you must stop the time when windows load and not the bios!

  • @paszag The results will be the same with or with out the bios included it makes no difference, especially as this is not a boot up time test, its a stress test.

  • @unb0xed But look ... some BIOS load slowly or faster!

  • Yeah nice, it loads fast as hell, but HDD will have a veeeeery much long lifetime.

SDD average lifetime is 10 years (if you dont use it), but normally it will die in 1 year, I saw this happen in a lot of laptops.

  • That's weird i just did the same test on a Samsung SpinPoint 250GB HDD, GeForce 8600 GT, 1.5Gb RAM , Intel Celeron 2.6Ghz processor, Winx 64, and it took me 3 minutes and half in order to open the Autodesk program from POSTING.

  • @akumashingo I think I missed your point? What do you mean from posting? 'Autodesk program' as in one program? Which programs did you run?

  • @unb0xed I mean 3D Max Studio 2012

  • @akumashingo It only takes 58 seconds to boot until Windows 7 is fully loaded and it takes another 2 and half minutes in order to load completely autodesk 3D Max Studio 2012. Removing other programs who loads at the startup, it's a shame that i don't have any camera in order to explain myself better, sorry.

  • @akumashingo I bet you could do it in half that with an SSD in that case as you will be able to squeeze even more performance out of your existing gear. 3Ds max is a pain to load too, even on the SSD it took longer than the other programs.

  • 1 person fails at life..and computers

  • you can change the settings so it loads faster than that.

  • Hey I have the Vertex too. Are you experiencing random freezes often like me?

  • @FOXMAN09 Hey,

That is strange I have not had that problem from the SSD, however I did have that problem when my storage HDD kept spinning down after being idle, if you have a HDD storage, you may want to check your sleep settings in the power plans on your computer.

  • @unb0xed Actually that might be the problem because I have been experiencing freezing with the green seagate which is known to spin down very often. How do I turn off sleep mode for storage HDDs because I already turned it off for my SSD but I can't find where to turn sleep mode off for the other one.

  • @FOXMAN09 I also have the green seagate hard drives so it could well be those. This is how I solved the problem:

Control Panel > System and Security > Power Options > Then click " Change plan Settings" next to the power plan you have active.Once you do you should be on a page with "turn off display put, computer to sleep" ect, under this in blue should be "Change advanced power settings" > scroll down look for "Hard Disk" - Turn off after and change to"Never". Let me know if this helps.

  • @unb0xed Hm ya I did that before so this applies to all the drives and not just the VERTEX/boot drive? I also had it plugged into a SATA 3 port which I actually read yesterday can give the drive issues so I just changed it back to SATA 2 and no freezes yet today. Although it did freeze before on SATA 2 as well but not two to three times a day like SATA 3 was probably causing. If it freezes again I'll unplug the storage hard drives for a day or two and see if a freeze occurs.

  • @FOXMAN09 Okay, double check you have the correct power-plan active ( caught me out once caused the issue to happen again). I have also managed to export my current power-plan for you to import, its a long shot but at least we know you have the same settings as me then. You may need to follow a tutorial to import it but its not to difficult. I will message you with a link to my power plan and a video tutorial for importing.

  • Ok. now i'm using this ssd card. 250 gb. with asus p8p67-deluxe and core i7-2600. 16gb 1600mhz..... man.......... it's fast.... fast..... fasttttttttttttttt.... hauhauhauhauhaua

Not every time... but.. sometimes, i copy and paste 1gb file and the new one appears at the same time. no progress bar appears.

But if i have read the reviews before buy it, i have bought 2 120gb drives and use it as raid-0. Double Faster !!!

  • lol, if this PC was a man, he would kill you

:D VERY BRILLIANT, I like your comparison, in fact i will buy my SSD 3 in a few a hours because of you,

    Thanks Bro.

  • @drvirus1001 No problem! Don't forget to check the link in the description to help optimise your system for it. I feel like I should be getting paid by Ocz with how many people have said this haha. Thanks for the feed back, good luck with your setup.

  • your genius, for including the spec of the test setup unlike some other people.

  • Very good.. BUT... The first 18 seconds are the bios boot. So... The difference between the disks are more dramatic....

    This disk is awesome.

  • @MosheInformatica Good point. Wish I had this drive already >.< Maybe I shallst go buy...

  • Watching this, my jaw DROPPED at the load speeds of the SSD.

    Must. Get. Vertex. Now.

  • a speed trial and stress test combined into one. I LIKE IT

  • This is what I love so much about my Vertex 3, it's not just fast in transfer speed, but also access time is like... Non-existant. I can start Photoshopping right away when I get in Windows. With a HDD it's as if Windows suffers some sort of 'sleep-drunk' effect. I guess that's gone with pretty much any SSD, but the Vertex 3 simply blows away any other device. (Only the Max. IOPS version is a tad faster I read, but wonder if this can be noticed.)

  • I think it's too close to call a winner.

  • Great video m8 - love the timer and comments: Clean with no nonsense...Good job! :)

  • @retrab Haha, thanks I'm glad you pointed that out,4 years on a design courses has me spending ages making sure its right haha, at least I know now it was worth while.

  • Great demo... I'm planning on buying the same SSD.

  • What motherboard do you have? i was considering a 60gb vertex 3 but after reading about marvell controllers not going over 400mb im considering getting vertex 2 instead

  • @trignite I had to use a PCI card to support 6Gb/s sata, I was faced with the same choice, but chose the vertex 3 just based on the fact it had the latest sandforce controller design. If you do chose a 60gb vertex 3 bear in mind it has slower read and write speeds than the 120 gb model. (Max Read: up to 535MB/s Max Write: up to 480MB/s). But also remember its all marketing waffle and your unlikely to hit exactly those speeds, mine is running on a Marvell controller. Hope this helps :)

  • @unb0xed thanks i think im going to get a 60gb vertex 3 and run it in sata 2 until i get a new motherboard (waiting for X79 chipset)

  • Guys thanks for the video, I'm about to replace my ageing custom built amd X2 4200+. It had a 74gb raptor in it. My new rig will be z z68 i7 2600k, not sure on mobo or ram yet but I'll definitely be getting an ocz vertex 3 to put windows 7 on.

  • @leerees one thing I will say is my WD raptor 74gb has served me well, it's been switched on permenantly for the last 5 years and not 1 disk error, ever. I'll definitely be buying another WD drive for data storage to complement my new vertex 3

  • I hope for the good of your computer you don't have to deal with a RMA wtih OCZ directly. I do not understand why so many people different computer tech levels and mentallities would in such a massive quantity have issues with OCZ ssd's failing completely ( not talking about idiots that try to use S.M.A.R.T. to scan for errors.lol) It makes no sense. Mushkin callisto deluxe here. np since christmas 2010. I'd rather pick this Vertex 3 over a crucial sata III rip off any day but not dependable.

  • Wow, I've been watching a lot of these SSD vs HDD videos and this really shows the immense performance benefits in comparison due to all those adobe applications loading from boot, great video; can't wait to get mine next week. Thanks for the great video!

  • @RoktAggramar No problem I'm glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching :).

  • yep, gonna buy one now.

  • wtf 8 minutes?

  • I see no reason to buy an SSD since I just set my PC to hibernate, therefore I just saved alot of money on one easy trick! :D

  • @Jorgen29 Phahaha, you should really educate yourself before you make a comment like that my friend.

  • @unb0xed Did little unb0xed get mad because I just spared alot of money by being smarter than him? woha ;o

  • @TheMr297

O my god. Unb0xed you really have NO idea.......ever heard of harddisk latency.

And yes....i also had to laugh at so much dumbnes............HAHA

  • @TheMr297 Thus your motherbord supports sata 3?

  • @unb0xed do you have any programs running from the storage drive that you didnt want to install directly onto the ssd? I'm considering getting a 128gb ssd and a 500gb WD Caviar Black for various .iso's for my virtual machine and games to save some space on the ssd. I have 9 other Caviar Green drives for movies and videos, so if a relatively fast hard drive will somewhat keep up with the ssd, i'll use that for my virtual machine crap.

  • @seetherfan1328 Hi,

Since the video I installed a raid 0 and a raid 1 giving me around 5TB of usable HDD space, this is where the majority of my programs are installed, only the programs I use often, and the OS are on the SSD. It's a really neat solution and has helped secure my data as if I lose a drive I can rebuild the data to a new one.

You will no doubt be needing extra storage if your anything like me I filled my 120gb up with in a week. Thanks for watching, good luck with your setup

  • @unb0xed I'm considering doing that so i can have more storage for programs i dont want to install directly on my SSD, but if the 500GB drive hinders performance, i guess i'll opt for the 256GB ssd. Plus, with the 500GB HDD (Sata3 6Gb/s), I'll have more room to install programs, like yourself, that wont fit on the SSD. What to do, what to do. lol

  • @seetherfan1328 If you're really concerned about performance from your HDD , have you looked into a raid 0 setup as an option? My storage drives are actually just 5200 RPM, as individuals they are pretty weak. But my raid 0 gave me a big jump in speed. Programs load pretty quick even on the HDD, though I won't lie I have ran into an issue with one of the drives, I think it falls to sleep or something, then spins up jamming the system a few seconds. I need to look into it. Good luck deciding!

  • @unb0xed If you have the WD Caviar Green drives, they do spin down when idle for so long, my 9 storage drives are all Green drives, and possibly Seagate and other brands do the same thing. That's why it lags when it spins back up. Mine lag like that when i access my bluray movie drive from my HTPC. I dont want to use RAID with any drive I have in conjunction with my SSD for fear that it might fuck up one day, plus I only have 2 6Gb/s sata ports and one is for the SSD :)

  • @seetherfan1328 Haha, here is the down side to having so many drives you see, no idea which one is going to sleep. I have set the drives to stay on when the computers idle, but only inside windows it's self. Maybe I have over looked a setting. I'm pretty sure its only just decided to start doing it though, I can even hear it spin back up while it lags. Ah well at least I know its all backed up if it goes tits up haha.

  • @Jorgen297 well siad

  • @Jorgen297 You just showed us that youre retarded. Hibernation process makes an image of the operating memory and saves it to the !HDD! and when you later turn back on your PC the image from the !HDD! is being restored to the operating memory. You make some 5-10GB read/write traffic to the hard drive when hibernating so your HDD is the most important part for the speed of the process called hibernation. Go read some books before proposing your foolish advices.

  • My beautiful PC wont be complete till I get one, but ehh man is broke get me?? Haha, so I'll have to wait a while till either the cash comes in the the gb = £! That may be a long wait..!

  • holy sh*t man we have the same pc exactly ...i mean the same specs (exeps cpu)i think same screen with same speakers and hard disk with ssd of course and at last we did the same upgrade...U ARE MY CLONE MAN..or whatever...

  • @pyrgos97 Haha, that's crazy! Considering the amount of choice on the custom pc market and how long it took me researching each upgrade, it must have been pretty slim odds. What CPU do you have?

  • @unb0xed same with the upgrades...cpu i5 760 cause i didnt need more power for my work...so i bought tow of them last month with a controller of sata 3 cause when i bought my motherboard sata 3 didnt exist...so now i have a problem with my controller and it isn't working and i dont knew the reason AND...the guarantee dosnt support the damage.im now gonna buy one from America cause in my country its unavailable.Anyway i see u have an i phone like me or im wrong?

  • @pyrgos97 Ouch, that's unlucky, I have a controller to seems to work pretty well good luck fixing yours. Haha, your right I'm guilty of owning an apple device. I can't stand Apples adverts or computers but they still have an edge when it comes to mobile tech.

  • @unb0xed so whats that mysterious apple device.is it an i pad?

  • @pyrgos97 Nah your right it is the iPhone :). I'm tempted to get an iPad tbh, keep finding my self wanting to use one.

  • @unb0xed anyway man im searching to buy a new controller now do u think that this controllers is completely compatible with my msi p55 gd 55 motherboard? i have asked many people and none knows...i hope u do

  • @unb0xed youtube sucks ill send u the link with pm :)

  • @unb0xed Was that 1TB HDD 7200RPM?

  • @tazss159 Yeah it was.

  • @unb0xed 7200RPM, right?

  • But will it blend?

  • @costescuandrei1975 Yeah I had the same problem.Restarting the computer is like restarting my phone now. The ssd has to be one of the best parts I have purchased it makes such a massive difference.

  • @unb0xed get a RAID.

Then compare the price and the state of the drives after 1-2-3 years.

  • @unb0xed woah! 2048p? are you sure? coz the best resolution I knew off thus far was 2500*1600 or something like that which is what you call "1600p"... Anyway, I guess I'll need to upgrade my video card if I jump on the HD+ bandwagon...

  • @Galal0110 1080p+ yeah your right. My fault I should have read more than one forum ;).Still, never mind what fancy title you want to give the res, it still looks a hell of a lot more crisp in 2048x1152 than when I run a game in 1080p.Good luck choosing one :).

  • @unb0xed yea definitely the glossy screen + the extra horizontal pixels make it look super sharp and crisp and the colours more vibrant. I'm really digging this glossy screen thing and ill be my first priority in choosing my next monitor. thnx for the nice little chat :) good luck

  • @unb0xed - the SP2309W has a resolution of 2048x1152 so not 2048p... its juts a 16:9 resolution for certain 23" panels, different from the 16:10 1900x1200 that used to be common on 24" panels (lots are going with 1920x1080 now as they use the same panels for TVs)

  • @cheesumzoku Well spotted! I should have known that, shame on me. Thanks for the info. It certainly feels like a jump though it looks so much nicer than 1080p! Maybe 2K and 4K are the next in line haha.

  • @unb0xed thnx alot mate! im definitely checkin' them out! As i told u, I love glossy screens but never used one b4 so did u encounter any viewing problems with them screens? like room lighting reflecting to much on it thus limiting your view? thnx again for the fast reply :)

  • Dude please tell me which monitor is that in the video!! it looks awesome plus i love glossy monitors!! plz reply :)

  • WOW! I'm happy that I put this SSD on my Laptop order :D

  • Lol u r crazy! i had never seen befor all adobe and autodesk stuff launched togheder!

  • WAW!!

  • This is sex!.. mines on order now! :D

  • This is weird,...

Of course an SSD is much faster, but Benchmarking my own Caviar Black (64MB, 1TB) give me far better results?!

  • @Kill0rbAg Do you mean you already have an SSD installed and its not reading as fast? If so be sure to use a Benchmark software that supports SSD, I think OCZ recommend one on the OCZ v3 page. Based on what I have been reading in forums HDD tests on an SSD do not give such accurate readings as they are built to test HDD, they can also degrade SSD performance. I will post in a second comment the text from OCZ with info on benchmarking. I Hope this helps.

  • @Kill0rbAg

    OCZ small print:

Rated speeds may vary slightly depending on the benchmark used, drivers, windows version, bios version and file size. We recommend using ATTO, IOMeter, and PC Mark Vantage for benchmarking SSDs and to achieve maximum rated specifications

  • Pretty cool video dude! I'm in the middle of researching SSD drives to add to my gaming system and I was looking for videos that compare the performance difference between a HDD and SSD. The speed differences is pretty inpressive so you've convinced me to go with a OCZ 120G Vertex 3. Again great Video!!

  • @sarojz I'm glad you enjoyed it! I posted a link to a good website with helpful info from OCZ about SSDs that might be of help in your research. And just in-case you didn't know already, its worth noting that, you may achieve better performance on an Intel controller rather than a Marvell like the one I'm using, according to a review I read online. I posted a link to that on my comments discussing it. Hope this helps, cheers for the feedback.

  • @cigarjohn42 Hi, thanks for your input. Its a shame you had to be the first thumbs down. I would have liked to compare to another drive however, as I am not a professional reviewer I do not get drives sent to me for comparison, and although I would like to, I can't afford to purchase drives just for comparison. But thanks for watching.

  • Wait,if i buy a Vertex 2 SSD 180GB...whenever i put it inside the computer and format it,will it have 172GB or 112GB WITHOUT WINDOWS IN IT???..because else it's kinda POINTLESS...i mean,my 1TB WD Caviar Blue says it's max capacity is 932GB,that's a LOT...so for the 180GB V2 SSD would be kinda the same or..?

Also,if i ever buy it i want my actual HDD as Storage..do i have to keep IDE enable on the BIOS?,coz that would save some time..AHCI doesnt detects? my WD with XP in it

  • @DV2TF Hi,

I'm not entirely sure what your asking, but from what I understand your asking how much usable space you will get from a drive marketed to be 180GB? I can't really say for sure that it will be a certain size, but I will post a comment below this one with OCZ's small print which might help explain the reason for the different sizes.

  • @DV2TF OCZ small sprint :

Consumers may see a discrepancy between reported capacity and actual capacity; the storage industry standard is to display capacity in decimal. However, the operating system usually calculates capacity in binary format, causing traditional HDD and SSD to show a lower capacity in Windows. In the case of SSDs, some of the capacity is reserved for formatting and redundancy for wear leveling.

  • @unb0xed ok,how about the 2 simultaneous drives on IDE or AHCI?

  • @DV2TF As for your second question, I don't have enough knowledge about how this would work on other systems to be able to say yes or no, however my system is running IDE enabled, instead of ACHI. However my SSD is on a PCI expansion card which has an extra BIOS screen so it may be running ACHI but I have no idea to be perfectly honest.

I will post a link to a useful guide from OCZ in the description I think it has more detailed information on BIOS

Thanks for watching I hope this helps.

  • @unb0xed How many RPM was the HDD?

  • Great video, I can't believe the speed of this ssd. I was first thinking of buying the Corsair F120 but I'll definitely buy the Vertex 3

  • @TheEvoss YOU already know that, other people might not... stupid troll.

  • @TheEvoss This was not a scientific experiment only a demo of the kind of improvement you can make with an SSD upgrade, but if you would like to see a comparison between other SSD's spend some time looking for professional reviews there are some really great websites with lots of detailed information and comparisons. Wasting your time venting your frustration on my video is useless.

  • @unb0xed

yeah these demos been plenty since SSD start

  • @unb0xed

    am not saying is useless

  • hi guys, i have a gigabyte assassin motherboard...im thinking about getting this drive however i believe it has a marvel controller on it...will this ssd work at full performance with it ? or do i need to purchase a intel controller ? sorry im a huge noob when it comes to ssds' ? any help would be greatly apprecaited

  • @imarimar Hi, did you check out the page recommended by yapchagi? guru3d.com/article/ocz-vertex-3-pro-review/13 If the link does not work search on the website for the vertex 3 pro review, it has some really useful info about it. It would seem, from what I read in the post that it makes a huge difference running it on an Intel controller. However the one in the video is using a marvel controller. Hope this helps.

  • nice, waited many years to jump into ssd. maybe this is the one.

  • I have had a look around. Its a big difference on the write speeds as you say. But I would have to swap out my motherboard and likely my CPU aswell to benefit from the Intel chip.

I doubt they have any Intel chips on an AMD motherboard lol! Definitely something to consider when building a new computer from scratch though.

    Cheers for the information.

  • Search on the internet. There's some benchmarks comparing Vertex 3 running SATA III between Marvell controller and the new Intel controller. The difference is huge!

Marvell controller is bottlenecking the Vertex 3. You won't get max speed as it is suppose to be (550 mb/s).

  • Are you using your onboard SATA III port? Is it Marvell controller? OCZ recommends that we use the new intel SATA III controller instead.

  • @yapchagi Why what does the marvell do to the Vertex 3 in performance?

  • @yapchagi Yeah I have SATA 2 on my motherboard, had to use a Rocket 620a SATA 6Gb/s non-RAID controller card to add the SSD, adds a whole new screen to the bios, which is on the video at 0:12. Do you know what kind of advantage the Intel controller would have?

I had to find one which will work in PCI-E x1 because my graphics cards take up both x16 slots.

I still get speeds of around 300MB/s so its still utilising SATA III

    Cheers for watching.
