The Q&A for this film at the Toronto Film Festival was quite interesting (especially compared with a lot of the fluff sessions one usually gets at such events). You can find it on my channel, or by viewing this one: =AbHPTWnz01A
I just saw the movie, was very dissapointed that they didn't talk about Tokyo. They just showed a few seconds here and there. The way Tokyo is designed makes the person feel so good, like in an adventure. Thats how I felt anyways and would've liked to know more about it.
Saw a clip of Detroit in the trailer. I'm very interested in what the documentary says about Motown, I'm currently an Architect/Civil Engineering student near Detroit and our school has programs that are constantly working on projects for the cities development. Still lots of progress to go, but really neat things are happening here!
@brunotvrs I haven't seen the film either. My comment was more general. I was getting at the fact that everything that is built, is designed by an engineer.
Saw the US NY Premiere. Fantastic finale to the trilogy. It takes all the awesome of modernism and looks at how it doesn't always work when applied to cities and, well, human well being. It's great.
@TheVarnster You could also say - everyone who 'thumbs up' this trailer is probably the type of person who is interested in architecture, urban planning and design on an intellectual level.
@TheVarnster Yet another person on the internet blindly and ignorantly making assumptions about something they don't agree with or dislike. Do you do this in real life too? If so, I feel very sorry for you. What an incredible waste of energy. Find a hobby friend. You might live past 35 without a serious brain aneurysm.

Such a unique approach! It's a film I am looking forward to seeing as soon as it comes to Cleveland, Ohio. I just had a feeling when I decided to back this film that it would be a winner!
Looks like visual poetry that will connect right with your gut about the importance of cities and design and beauty. Makes me proud to be a backer.
Gary...have you talked to Alan Hansen, Founding Chairman of the Loudoun County Design Cabinet -- a unique group of architects, planners, designers, and more who volunteer their time to make their community better from a thoughtful design perspective with mini-charettes. They also do an annual set of design awards: the Signatures of Loudoun.
"Everything has been designed." Wow, selective blindness. The opening shot shows a dramatic natural vista, upon which the city rests like a blanket of human habitation, an open fabric through which poke countless trees. Most cities are host to millions of people, not to mention wildlife. Is that designed?
Moreover, many built things are not designed in the way that designers like to think they are. They are made the old-fashioned way, straight from imagination to finished product.
@bgulanowski Um 'Imagination to finished product' is a fundamental approach to all design. The 'old-fashioned way' is still 'design'. When you hear the word 'design' I'm sure you instantly associate Adobe and other computer programs, which is not the case.
Also when they say 'everything has been designed' I'm sure they aren't referring to nature, as it's a film about our specie's relationship with urbanized cities/areas.
This made me really want to play Sim City.

Everyone who 'thumbs up' this trailer is probably the type of person who owns a Mac and gets a 'skinny latte' from Starbucks on the way to work

"When you walk down a street, everything you see has been designed" - love this thought - design is hiding in plain sight.
